Primitive Antique Ovoid Stoneware Jug Blue Cobalt Floral Garden Collectible
Primitive Antique Stoneware Jug Old estate find in New England. This is a nice wide Ovoid Shape Stoneware Jug with blue cobalt decoration. applied handle and early glaze. The jug is in good condition but the handle was broken at one time and repaired. It was broken up at the top and at the lower end- see pictures. I think a better repair could be done. There are some glazing flaws and marks from when it was made. Even with the handle crack it is still in good primitive antique condition. Displays nicely. Jug measures about 13" tall. It is a large serpent handle jug that measures a full 12" tall x 11" across at it widest and is 8" deep. It is decorated on either side with a different scene from Shakespeare's play MERCHANT OF VENICE. I have no idea what factory made this piece. Up for your bidding consideration is a vintage stoneware jug made in the USA. On the front in gold is a crest with words that appear to be Latin. Under the crest it says in gold Spring'71. It is approximately 10" tall and 5 1/4" across the bottom. There are no chips. Cracks, or signs of repair. There are a few scuff marks on the bottom, the cork has a chip out of it, and on the brown stoneware there is tape residue and on the tape it apparently said 100. 1800s Redware Jug - Dark Albany Slip Glaze - Incised Flower Decoration + Bonus
This auction is for a redware jug that dates to the 1800s. The jug is approx. 8 1/2" tall and has a flower. Possibly a magnolia, incised into the jug. The Albany slip glaze is dark brown and the first photo which was taken without the flash show a better representation of the true color. The other photos were taken with the flash and show the damage areas and imperfections better. There are several chips in the spout area, an old repair to cracks in the applied handle and numerous imperfections. All in all the jug, which was made to be used in it's day, is in fair condition and still displays nicely. Also included as a bonus is a smaller redware jug which dates to the 1800s and has the same dark brown glaze. The jug measures 4 1/2" tall and has a large chip to the spout. Several hairline cracks, but no damage that I could see ... moreto the applied handle. The little jug with it's imperfections is still very solid and makes a great companion piece to the larger jug. In the 50's. My mother and her friends began asking farmers permission to look through barns for ceramic jugs, which were thought to have no value at that time. This is one of the jugs she found and for years kept Philodondren vines in water in it. It is 6-1/2" tall; x 4-7/8" at widest part. The spout opening is 7/8" Considering it's history, it is amazing that it is in such good condition. Pot-Belly Crock Jug - Southwest Style
You are viewing a very nice little Vintage Potbelly Style pottery jug. This jug is more of a true deep golden yellow than it appears in the photos. Closer to the 2nd photo in tone, but a very rich golden yellow color, a true Southwest color. This is a fairly small. But not at all miniature size jug, with a nicely round shape. It has no cracks or chips, only a bit of scuffing from sitting on a table or shelf, the normal marks you would expect in a vintage piece of pottery. There is a marking on the bottom. Which I tried to show in the 3rd photo, which looks like the number 175. This jug measures about 5" across the thickest part and stands about 5" tall. This is a very cute and nice jug. This piece was gotten at an estate sale. The FRENCH MADE CRUET IS 12" TALL INCLUDING THE ELEGANT CORK. The design is very Delft looking with the ships. Blue delft glaze and Windmills. The cruet has no smell and cork seals tightly. Cork shows a little wear on the bottom but still seals the cruet. There are no chips, nicks or cracks in this piece. It is a lovely French collectible or could be used as a decor piece or for pouring olive oil or wine.

A glazed. Two-tone Puzzle Jug, unmarked but likely English; the applied sprigs around the midsection are consistent with those from the Doulton Lambeth pottery. There are five scenes; three depicting drinking and general merriment, a windmill and a tree. Antique Taylor Tunnicliffe & Co. Portrait Earthenware Ewer
This fantastic ewer was created by Taylor Tunnecliffe& Co. circa 1875-1898. It has a unique transfer ware design on either side of period drinking men and a jester. There is even a maiden delivering the wine. The pitcher measures 7 1/2 inches tall and 4 1/2 through its bulbous belly. The ewer is made of earthenware and there is light crazing throughout. There is a touch of glaze wear inside the lip where there was once probably a cork and the tiniest flea bite pin prick along the edge. It is marked on the base with the companies logo. It is really a unique item and reminds me of Royal Doultons Dickensware.

Unusual Antique or Vintage Stoneware Jug With Rope Netting And Wooden Tag
Here is a an old( I do not know the age) rope netted stoneware mug with a hidden blue design under one side of the cover. I cannot make out the design or the possible word over it. Perhaps a manufacturer name. The netting is tight and cannot be pushed over to see it. It has some tears and stains and no cap but I had never seen one like this and thought it was a great decorative object. I know nothing about jugs and bought this in Asheville. NC a while back and used it for a nautical decor display. It is approximately 8 1/2" high and the bottom circumference is 7" round. A really great unusual decorator piece or for a collector of jugs. Here isha a very nice old RARE& HARD TO FIND example of a WHEELING WEST VIRGINIA MERCHANTS COBALT DECORATED JUG.The"W" is missing but it has been determined that it dates too late to be a VIRGINIA JUG; The jug measures 2 gallons with five blue lateral lines that accent the script. M REILLY- 1309&1311 MAIN STREET- WHEELING VA The jug is tall measuring 14 inches in height with a boulbous almost ovoid shape. TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE PHOTOS. There are spider hairlines. Mostly to the left of the script. There is a neat tobacco spit mark about 4 inches from the top as well. The bottom also has hairlines. I think they are all freeze lines It is solid, in that it is all together but it does not have a good ring like it should have. These problems do not, in my opinion, overshadow the fact that it is RARE AS CAN BE. Where are you ... moregoing to find one? Buyer pays $20 domestic shipping and handling. International S&H will be more. You may have seen this jug listed a few weeks ago. It was sold but returned to me by the original buyer. Up for Auction is an Antique Brown Ceramic Jug with a Unique Glazing Style.8 Inches Tall The jug glazing is rather unique. As you can see in the photos. T here's a band of no glazing around the top of the jug. Also. The glazing doesn't cover the jug completely. These unglazed areas might be mistaken for damaged areas, such as the mouth of the jug. It looks as though it's chipped, but there's just no glaze on it. You see that"style" all over the jug surface. There are a few minor chips on the jug. One is in the band where there is no glazing, it's about 1/4" wide. The other few chips are tiny. And are on the rim of the base, the largest being 1/8" I just noticed a tiny"ding" on the mouth of the jug. This is an antique 2-gallon Bangor Stone Ware Co. salt-glazed stoneware jug. C. 1880-1917. It is stamped in cobalt blue with the number 2 above"Bangor Stone Ware Co, Bangor Maine" Two drops of glaze from the manufacturing process. As well as several light brown drops from the manufacturing process, can be seen in photographs#1 and#2. A small, shallow surface flake on the outside of the lip near the handle can be seen in photograph#4, along with a few insignificant surface hairlines. An additional surface hairline on the outside of the lip can be seen in photograph#5. A 3-1/4" long surface hairline can be seen in photograph#6. A very small chip on the base can be seen in photograph#8. The photographs show that the jug is in good overall condition.
