Extremely Scarce 1890's Utah Liquor Co. STONEWARE 1/4 Gallon CANTEEN JUG BOTTLE
Special thanks to David Emett for contacting me to correct the information of the size of this rare canteen. Pretty sure with the photos you have listed that this jug is a quarter gallon rather that a half gallon. I am not aware of anyone who has actually measured the capacity of the canteens but for over 40 years this size is considered the quart. I already have a set but my two half gallons could be upgraded. Your jug is an exceptional example of this rare piece. The rarity of the quart has held but several other half gallon examples have surfaced. The quart usually brings a higher price than the half. The gallon is still the toughest to get. David Emett Extremely Scarce 1890's Utah Liquor Co. 1/4 Gallon stoneware canteen with the original handle. No cracks or chips. This canteen is in amazing condition. This canteen shaped stoneware ... more1/2 gallon jug is a very rare piece with 10 or less known to exist. Made by the Whites Pottery. Utica, New York factory for the Utah Liquor Company. 4 GALLON RED WING TARGET WITH TAIL JUG
Up for auction is this very impressive 4 gallon Red Wing jug. Believed to be Redwing. Redwing was known for their target with tail designs, use of turkey droppings, and their beehive shapes. You can see examples of this in Warmon’s Red Wing Pottery, identification and price guide byb Mark F Moran As is with all antiques. Especially Stoneware, there will be flaws. Most are because people don’t treat them right, some are factory. This jug sat in my bedroom for years and was treated with care, but through the years someone has not. I will list everything that I could find wrong with this jug. There is a hairline crack that goes all around the handle. This comes from picking up and carrying antique stoneware by the handle. You have to look closely to see it but it is there. I encourage anyone who purchases the jug or any other to not use the ... morehandle. There is a chip at the base of the jug measuring 1.5 by 1 inches. This was done in the firing because it is glazed over. So this is a factory flaw These are the only two flaws I can find. The cobalt blue 4 with target and tail are in great condition. The jug is very impressive. Statistics: the jug weight approx. 27lbs, The jug stands 15 inches tall The jug has a cercumferance of 35.25 inches at the top and 32.75 inches at the bottom All in all this is an outstanding example of early American history. It is time for me to rotate my items so this is your opportunity to increase yours. I am also listing this exact jug only in a 3 gallon size. So please take the time to check it out. Both of these would make a great start to a 1 thru 6 gallon collection. Please ask any questions you may have so there won’t be any misunderstandings after you purchase. Thank you Shep& jen Powered by The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.

Antique ENORMOUS 4 Gallon Stoneware Jug Crock Pickle HEAVY w/COVER Handles
Antique ENORMOUS 4 Gallon Stoneware Jug Crock Pickle HEAVY w/COVER Handles. 11" tall with 10" top opening diameter. You should know: Ebay is not just a hobby for me. It is how I support my family and I take my work and the satisfaction of my customers very seriously. I scour New England buying items at auctions. Estate sales(sometimes even yard sales) and from individuals looking to downsize. I keep some items for myself(we live in a 200 year old Colonial here in New Englan d) and I sell the rest. It's an incredibly enjoyable way to make a living and I love it! I price my items to sell as I am not a collector and I am not trying to make a killing- just trying to make a living.
