BEAUTIFUL 1 GALLON ANTIQUE STONEWARE/COBALT JUG featuring a handsome cobalt design. Jug is approximately 12" tall and the base diameter measures 7" There are no marker's marks. The handle is in great shape. There is. However, a chip out of the jug lip(see photo) It is quite smooth so it has probably been there for many years. There are a few small chips on the front(see photos) Again, they are smooth and appear quite old. There is a very thin and tight hairline 5" crack at the back of the jug which extends on to base of the jug- about 3" The jug appears quite stable and these imperfections do not distract from its charm and beauty. I am not an expert and selling in"as-is" condition. I am downsizing and have to let go of some of my treasures. Happy bidding! No minimum.

Up for auction. Is a good shelf jug very nice front. The handle is missing, the top has been re glued back on and a large sealed crack in the back. The white glaze on this jug indicates that it was not manufactured before 1895 and it is possible that it could have been manufactured as late as 1906. This features a tan salt glaze finish with a slight"orange peel" surface. It also features a cobalt blue slip trail in a bull's eye floral design. It is incised with the maker's name. S.L. Pewtress& Co. Fair Haven, Conn. They operated from 71 Chatham Street in the Fair Haven district of New Haven, Conn. from 1868 to 1887. This jug dates to about 1870. This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. For your consideration is a one gallon cone top shoulder jug. Made of stoneware. Debossed into the bottom it says: THE BUCKEYE POTTERY CO MACOMB ILL The writing is glazed over, but I could see 0 punctuation. This company existed 1882-1941. I assume this jug was one of the first pieces this company manufactured that had white glaze, because the turkey eye dripping leads me to believe it was fired right after salt glazed items were fired. The height is almost 10 1/2" and the bottom is approximately 7" in diameter. There are 0 cracks, however there is a very minor(probably insignificant) chip.

Vintage stoneware advertising jug. Says Hazel Pure Food Co. Chicago-New York. I think this is made by Red Wing. But I'm not certain. There is no makers mark anywhere, and the research info. out there is very skimpy. Measures 10 1/2" high. 7 1/4" diameter. Single handle at the top. 1" diameter at the top. Weighs 6 lbs. 11 oz. Holds 1 gal, or a bit more to the very top. Overall very good condition. No major cracks that I can find. There are a few minor chip. And some crazing, but it is watertight, nothing leaked out when I filled it.

Vintage Or Antique 8" Glazed Stoneware Jug With Round Top-Grayish-Beige-1/2 Gal?
Offered is this vintage or antique glazed stoneware jug with a round top. I describe the color as a sort of grayish-beige. But the color varies a bit on different parts of the jug. It stands about 8" high and is approx. 5 1/2" across on the bottom. It has a cork in so I could not measure the capacity without removing and probably damaging the cork. But I would guess 1/2 gallon or maybe 2 1/2 or 3 quarts? The jug is in very good condition. I see no cracks. But there are a couple of chips at the top on the"neck" see last photo) a thin shallow line across the top that is not a crack but what looks like a mark made when it was manufactured and a small blob of white paint that may be able to be removed with careful attention As you might expect. Old Earthenware Glazed 1 gal Moonshine - Whiskey JUG / CROCK - Pebbled Stoneware
From a M id S outh E state. Old Stoneware Salt-Glazed 1 gallon Whiskey/ Moonshine JUG Crock. Measures 10 1/2" height x 7" diameter; weighs almost 6 pounds empty. Two-tone base colors; brown upper 1/3 of jug and a tan bottom 2/3rd's. The flash of the camera in photos#5 and#6 really brought out the beautiful variants of color in the brown area not noticeable under normal room lighting conditions. The brown flecks in the tan area are noticeable as is the rough pebbled surface. Which from my research appears to be rather rare. I find no cracks or breaks. I find 2 small chips on the upper rim of the tan area. I find no brand marks. Has a wooden cork. A great decorative item. Selling a 1 gallon salt glaze stoneware jug made by Peter Herrmann of Baltimore. The jug stands 12 inches tall. The piece has the impressed P. Herrmann 1G mark. As shown in the pictures. There is a small glazed over chip on the rim and one small chip on the base. The is no other damage to the stoneware jug. Email me if you have any questions. I ship out mostly on Saturdays.
