Small alkaline or salt glazed, primitive antique crock. 6 1/4 inches high, about 3 inch top diameter, about 4 1/4 inch bottom diameter. ... moreLooks to be just under 5 inches around(diameter) in the middle. Nice luster, looks different in every kind of light. Glaze is nicely variegated- study photos to get the feel and look of this relatively heavy piece(for its size) Does not appear to be missing a lid- the way the opening was made, I do not believe this ever had a lid, at least not a ceramic one that would have been incorporated into the clay design when the piece was hand thrown. Looks like this crock could originate from the Catawba Valley Pottery, but just my opinion. Glaze& form reminds me a little bit of Pewabic Pottery pieces, but not iridescent. Not much wear given its age- glaze has rubbed off in a few small spots around the rim(see photo) but no serious chips or cracks. Bottom is unmarked. All sales are final- no returns. The Jug is stamped with OTTMAN BRO'S& CO over FORT EDWARD. NY over a compact tight cluster hand slipped blue scroll coil spray dotted leafy floral cluster typical of slip cup decoration(slip is liquid clay) The decorations sits well mid front to the jug and shows nicely in overall balanced scheme ... moreto the viewer, this one had some thought exercised during manufacture as so many other finds are simply routine, unimaginative, and in some cases, downright hurried and sloppy! The platform neck is well formed and strong, and loop strap rear single handle is tight, easy grip, highly looped, and attached firmly no issues. This is a clean nice stoneware example for anyone's proud display collection. Unmarked to capacity, I would say it is best equivalent to just about 1 1/2 gallon size. Condition Report: One very tiny stone ping above coil spray. Triangular shaped stone ping on right side upper shoulder from which emanates a line of vertical glaze drip. Overall pleasing light grey coloration with a small Texas-state shaped beige blotch to left side midway. This is smooth. Just a kiln color aberration in the manufacture. No kiss marks. Clean sound bottom with tiny felt pad dots to prevent scratching. No fry to cobalt, No hairlines. No repairs. Just HONEST old piece that has sat last 30+ years in a collection in the area in which is was made. Offered here new debut at antique show field trader price-where the buyers descend upon my booth like locusts hungry to purchase Fine Wares

Antique Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Whiskey Jug
This is listing is for an Antique Brown Salt Glazed Hand Thrown? Pottery Whiskey Jug. I do not know when this jug was made or where it came from. The sticker on the front of it says" Made in Tennessee By Moonshiners" Again I have no idea if that is original to the jug or not. Jug appears to be in good shape with only one major flaw being on the side opposite of the handle what appears to be where a light gouge or something that once on there has been broken off. The jug is approx 8" high and has a corn cob stopper. The photos in this listing is the actual jug you are bidding on. This item will ship with Insurance! Items are from a smoke free home and have been described to the best of my knowledge of them. All items are sold As-Is so be sure to ask any and all questions before bidding. I will only ship within the U.S. and price ... morequoted for shipping is shipping and handling unless otherwise specified. Item will be shipped with the utmost care. Thanks for looking at my listing!

Antique - Crabbie, Boston - Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug
This is a salt glazed stoneware jug. Most likely from the late 19th Century. It is marked M& R.S. Crabbie, 26 Elm Street, Boston. It measures 9 1/4" high and 6" across the widest point. It does have a tight crack on the bottom and partly up the side. It doesn't show from the front so it's still a very decorative piece.

Antique Flow Blue Design Salt Glazed Stoneware Bottle, Hand Thrown
An incredible 5 1/2" tall flat neck bottle. The blue color swirling around this piece is wonderful. There are some glazing flaws on the shoulder and neck. You can see evidence of it being hand thrown on the interior of the neck. It is unsigned. But is European in origin. In the same box were items from England, Belgium, France and the Netherlands. I JUST purchased this item from ebay- you can see the original item listing here: you'll need to scroll to the bottom of the page) The item is GORGEOUS and exactly as described. If not better. I'm in LOVE with it, however, due to unforeseen circumstances I need to sell it, along with several other things, to repair the transmission in the only car my family has. I have a first year college student who commutes to and from college daily and we share a car- the transmission just blew ... moreand its over 3thousand to fix it! Sadly, i'm forced to sell many beloved items so my daughter has a car to get to and from college in. Hard times really suck! sorry. ranting) This piece will not dissapoint- its awesome. I have not gotten it appraised. But I believe its worth a good amount. Even if you are not a collector, its a gorgeous piece to have on display. Perfect to have on a table with a single flower in it! Ships within the continental US only- no international shipping. Enjoy!

PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE~1-GAL. SALT-GLAZED STONEWARE MOONSHINE JUG w/Applied Handle
This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. So bid with confidence and please contact us with any questions. Antique 1860s Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug OL& AK Ballard Burlington VT 2 Gallon This listing is for a wonderful antique O.L. A.K. Ballard Stoneware Jug. This is a 2-gallon salt glazed jug that measures about 14" inches tall and 8 1/4" inches across the base. Based on our research. These two Ballard brothers were making stoneware in Burlington, Vermont between 1859 and 1867. The jug is in good overall condition with a few small chips ... morearound the rim and the bottom edge. There is also a 1/4" inch hole drilled in the back near the bottom, and another 1/2" inch drilled hole on the very bottom. We are not sure why this was done. Please see the photos below and contact us with any questions. We have a low opening bid price, so don't miss your chance to win! The three Ballard brothers. Orrin L, Alfred K, and Hiram N. worked briefly in Burlington before taking over the old Thompson& Co. pottery in Gardiner, Maine in 1854. In Burlington they used the incised mark BALLARD& BROTHERS/BURLINGTON, VT. They operated the Gardiner facility for about a year and produced wares with the incised mark BALLARD& BROTHERS/GARDINER ME. Following this experience the two brothers moved to Portland, Maine, where in 1855 they established a pottery at 100 Green Street. The 1856 Portland directory lists them at that address and describes the as“Manufacturers and Wholesaler Dealers of Stone Ware of every description, which they offer to the trade on the most reasonable terms. Orrin and Alfred moved back to Burlington and made pottery together from 1859 to 1867. Their mark was O.L. A.K. BALLARD/BURLINGTON, VT. Biddi

EARLY ANTIQUE CIRCA 17TH/18TH CENTURY SALT GLAZED STONEWARE ONE-HANDLED JUG
This early antique salt-glazed stoneware one-handled jug is circa 17th/18th century. Salt glaze pottery is stoneware with a glaze of glossy. Translucent, and slightly orange-peel texture, which was formed by throwing common salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. This primitive jug has a beautiful early pear-shaped form. And a nice mottled natural/yellowish color. The jug measures ~8 3/8" tall x 2" diameter at the base. Considering its age. The jug is in good condition overall. There are a couple of small chips at the neck, and a hairline crack, but no major repairs or restoration that I can see. The blemish in the front of the jug was possibly formed during the firing process, from maybe touching another jug. The form. Color, and surface are great. This jug shows good honest wear from years ... moreof use, and has nice character. Thanks for looking, and any shipping cost overcharge will be promptly refunded.

Descriptions in this listing can be subjective. What looks"excellent" to me might only be"very good" to you. Etc. PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE SALT GLAZED STONEWARE ONE-HANDLED JUG, GREAT COLOR AND FORM
This primitive antique salt-glazed stoneware one-handled jug is circa 18th century. The form is a beautiful pear shape. Typical for this period. The color is a wonderful yellowish mottled color. The true color of the jug is definitely more mellow, and not as bright yellow as the pictures show. There is nice raised ring decoration around the neck. The jug measures ~8" tall x 5" wide at the widest point. And it has a 3" diameter base. Considering its age, the jug is in good condition overall. There are no major chips. There are some surface cracks, but the jug is very, very stable. Since I am not an expert in this field, I cannot say for sure whether or not this jug has been restored, so I ask that you please zoom in on all of the pictures for detailed closeups to help you decide. This jug shows good honest wear from many years ... moreof use. And its simple form and great color just add to its character. Thank you for looking, and any shipping cost overage will be promptly refunded.

Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Jug Dark Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Wide Mouth!!
Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug This is a rare opportunity to own a very old 3 Gallon salt glazed stoneware handled jug with a wide mouth in a very dark brown. I'm estimating 1800's. But it may be older-look at the pictures and judge for yourself. It has a primitive"3" near the top. No other marks. The top is slightly darker than the bottom. 14-1/2 inches high and has a 9-1/2" diameter. The mouth is almost 4" across. Condition: Very good given it's age. Handle is intact and solid. No chips around the mouth and only minor chips around the top edge of the body. The top has some lighter color in a very few small spots-may be paint drips or an old attempt to touch it up. Regardless, it only adds to the patina of the jug. The bottom has some damage as can be seen from the last 3 photos, ... morebut it appears to be age related. There is the start of a hairline crack near the bottom, but the jug appears to be solid and should be around for a very long time-see last photo. See high resolution photos for more! This is a great old jug and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's home! Please note that I will be having a knee replacement soon so that this listing and all my others will be ending during the second week of October. If not before, and I do not know when they will resume. If you see something you like and have been watching, I suggest you bid soon.

ANTIQUE 1/2 GAL WINE STONEWARE JUG SALT GLAZED W/ COBALT INCISED FISH DECORATION
THIS IS ONE OF THREE 1/2 GALLON JUGS I WILL BE LISTING CONSECUTIVELY! BE SURE TO CHECK THEM ALL OUT! I will not combine shipping on stoneware. It is just too dangerous! Shipping will be $18 per jug. The three jugs will be followed by a piece of blue stencil decorated Iowa Stoneware! Please feel free to email me with any questions! I don't know the maker but do know I have never seen anything like this one! The front is stamped WINE and underneath that are a series of incised fish an some sort of plant alternating all the way around. Years ago I saw a crock with this incised decoration but it had no markings other than that(and was crazy expensive) This jug has a great somewhat ovoid shape. The WINE stamp stands out even better in person. There is some sort of stone ping to the lower left of the word WINE that did lead to a hairline crack ... moredrifting across the front. It does not get any closer than 1 inch to the cobalt band with the fish and WINE stamp. Everything is pictured. It is truly a fantastic piece of stoneware! It has been sitting in my dining room since I purchased it. If it were not for an unexpected expense this jug would stay permanently in my dining room! Don't miss out on this rarity! I have always overlooked a little damage of the piece is rare and unusual enough. I do believe this jug qualifies! See the pictures!

Antique Salt Glazed Stoneware Pottery Jug Crock 1 Gallon 1800s Primitive Whiskey
Antique Jug This auction is for a really nice and very rare antique stoneware jug or crock that has a really nice salt glaze finish. The jug is rather narrow and it’s a very early model. But there are no markings minus what looks like a letter G stamped in the back. The jug measures about 11" tall and it has a very unusual pinched handle design that I’ve never seen. Really nice piece and in excellent condition with no damage. There is a very shallow chip at the mouth but it might just have been manufactured as such– it looks like it’s always been there. Great piece and guaranteed old! I charge a 5.1% sales tax to all Wisconsin residents- sorry. It's mandatory! Thanks for bidding! Shipping rules: If you happen to win more than one auction and live in the United States I will GREATLY discount shipping. Obviously.
