The glazed finish is in very nice conditions and shows no tiny"spider web" cracking. The body has no cracks, large or small, that we can see. This stoneware jug measures about 8 inches high and about 5 inches wide. It is very old and most likely predates 1964 because it is stamped"Federal Law Forbids Sale or Re-use of this bottle" which was required on bottles after prohibition and until the law requiring the notice was repealed in 1964. There is crazing but. In my opinion, it gives the jug some personality. There is the tiniest rough spot around the mouth and bottom of the jug. I show several photos of the mouth and bottom. This is an unusual whiskey/moonshine jug with the wire and wood handle. It is about 9 1/2" to top of jug and is almost 7" across the bottom. This is an old jug and the wire handles are bent. The chip on the top is just glaze deep and the one on the bottom is not bad. Considering the life these had it is a wonder they survived. Not sure how much it holds. Maybe 2 gals or less. There are no markings on this jug. There is a chip on the bottom and on the neck. Near the handle, see photos. The fourth photo shows a closeup of the top rim which may appear as a chip, however, after close examination, this defect was made in the making of this jug. Stands 9 1/2" tall. The diameter is 5 1/2" across the bottom. There is crazing under the glaze on the bottom portion and a number of poc marks, very crudely made.

We love our old jugs down here in the south and as bad as I hate to say it this one rivals any of them. The neck is thick as well as the throat. The handle is thick as well. We were always told to not GRAB IT BY THE HANDLE! This one you won't have to worry about because this ole boy was made to with stand a lot of handling. He stands 12" tall and is 7 1/2" across the bottom. The stamp looks to read D L or E L FARRAR. IBERVILLE PQ which we think would be QUEBEC. What little we could find from history of the company would date this jug in the mid 1800's and most likely made in Vermont or New York. The stamp is not real clear on the two initials but it appears to be D L or E L. I have a vintage glazed moonshine jug. It is in great shape no cracks in it. The cork is still partially in it as you can see in picture. It comes with a plastic vintage old grandad pour spout. The spout opens at the end for pouring as you can see in pictures also. There in a slight dip in the pottery but that was from when it was made it is not a chip look at pictures. The bottom is a little bit dirty. Again Please look at pictures before bidding. It's about 7 inches tall without the pour spout.
