This old handmade brown stoneware sidearm whiskey jug is a well taken care of vintage item from an earlier era. It shows very little wear. The stopper is much newer. Antique Primitive Beehive Stoneware Crock Jug with Bail Handle / Moonshine Jug
This is an antique primitive beehive crock jug that belonged to my Mom. It appears to be very old but does not have any markings on the bottom. The handle is bent. But appears to be the original handle. There are a few spots where the glaze did not stick to the crock when it was glazed. There is a dark spot near the top of the jug. There are also a few chips around the top and bottom edges. The jug is about 10 1/2" tall and 25" around at the widest point. PayPal only please. Shipping only within the U.S. The cost of the shipping that I have listed is for parcel post to the farthest zone from me. I will adjust the shipping cost lower if you live in a closer zone to me. Beehive crock.....amazing......with antique fingerprints
We are selling off some of our crock collection to make a little extra cash.so we are pricing low compared to similar crocks. This is an awesome beehive crock. With a few nicks here and there and a weird circle cut into the crock.but it seems to have been there for a long time. Vintage Brown/Tan Stoneware Crock Whiskey Moonshine Jug -w/Wire Handle - Beehive
This is an unusual whiskey/moonshine jug with the wire and wood handle. It is about 9 1/2" to top of jug and is almost 7" across the bottom. This is an old jug and the wire handles are bent. The chip on the top is just glaze deep and the one on the bottom is not bad. Considering the life these had it is a wonder they survived. Not sure how much it holds. Maybe 2 gals or less. Old Cobalt ? 3 Gallon Stoneware ? Beehive Salt Glaze ? Crock Jug
I know NOTHING about stoneware. In fact. I don't even know if it qualifies as stoneware, but here goes- 14 1/4 inches high with a 10 inch diameter bottom. There are no markings on the jug except the number 3(three) in blue and I assume that to be the volume of the jug- although the more I look at it, I'm thinking it could be the letter B. There is a definite crack in the finger handle and that is all there appears to be- doesn't look like it ever broke off- shows no sign of repair. It has been in our possession at least 40 years- it was purchased in Washington state(Spokane, if I remember correctly) but we have the place for sale and will be moving into a ground floor apartment with no outbuildings so it must go. Of particular interest is the brown"mottling" on the top and handle- we've never attempted to clean it ... moreso we have no idea if it will come off- original plug never been out. Vintage 1 GALLON Handle JUG Brown Glaze Pottery Moonshine Crock Beehive
My parents bought this jug at a rural farm estate sale decades ago. I measured myself and it held approx. one gallon plus two cups of water. No leaks. It stands approx. 9.5" tall, with a 7.5" diameter at the base. I believe the shape is known as"beehive" but I'm not sure.I am NOT an expert on this sort of item! I have examined it carefully and can find no damage other than that associated with many years of normal use. As you can see in the pictures, the bottom surface is quite rubbed, and the underside of the handle is missing the glazed surface. But I see NO cracks and actual chips; there are places where the surface is uneven but I think that was part of the hand made process. There are also small surface bubbles. No maker marks that I can see. I will package carefully with lots of wrapping and foam noodles. Shipping ... morewill be via USPS with tracking and insurance. After listing. I saw the cost of Priority shipping outside my postal zone and it is very expensive! I am now adding a standard shipping option, which will also include tracking and insurance.

Up for you consideration today I have a large 5 gallon Salt Glazed Crock THIS JUG IS WATERTIGHT NO cracks or breaks two chips one large at the bottom about the size of a nickel or a bit larger one small that was done before firing and it glazed over these can be seen in the last two pictures It was painted with about 30 layers of paint and I used a natural orange stripper to remove the paint you can see remnants of paint chips in some of the pictures they will not be present when it arrives I took the pictures directly after the stripping was finished to show a friend and had not cleaned it completely It took me 2 months to remove all of the paint with the natural stripper and lots of elbow grease it was a labor of love!
