Antique Jug This jug looks to hold about 1 gallon of fluid. It is 11.5 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter. It does not have any identifying marks that I can see. I found this in an old. Overgrown shed at an estate sale. This jug was on a shelf next to a few other jugs labeled"Whiskey" this was the best looking one of them all. This jug is in great condition for its age; it does not have any cracks. And it does not have any major chips. It has only one small shallow chip on the top edge, please see the picture. There are interesting imperfections in this jug from it being hand made. They can be seen in the pictures showing the bottom and base of the jug. This is an antique 2-gallon Bangor Stone Ware Co. salt-glazed stoneware jug. C. 1880-1917. It is stamped in cobalt blue with the number 2 above"Bangor Stone Ware Co, Bangor Maine" Two drops of glaze from the manufacturing process. As well as several light brown drops from the manufacturing process, can be seen in photographs#1 and#2. A small, shallow surface flake on the outside of the lip near the handle can be seen in photograph#4, along with a few insignificant surface hairlines. An additional surface hairline on the outside of the lip can be seen in photograph#5. A 3-1/4" long surface hairline can be seen in photograph#6. A very small chip on the base can be seen in photograph#8. The photographs show that the jug is in good overall condition. Old Stoneware Glazed Crock/Jug for Whiskey or Moonshine Maybe?
This is an old stoneware/ceramic jug/crock that has been in storage for a lot of years. Could it have been used for whiskey or moonshine? It is a tannish gray at the bottom with brown at the top. No markings on it and no cork. Does have the usual blemishes that come with something this primitive and has a small chip at the bottom(could have been original) I'm not a good judge- this is probably about a one gallon size. Vintage 1930's/1940's or earlier large jug crock with cork. It measures 12" tall with a 6 1/2" outside diameter at base. The capacity looks like 1- 1 1/2 gallons. It is a heavy thick wall salt glaze glazed stoneware stone ware pottery jug with a cup style side handle near the top. The crock is in very good condition. It is glazed brown on the top half and tan on the bottom half. The exterior bottom is glazed in the center area and unglazed around the rim showing the stoneware. There is a remnants of a loose cork left. The crock displays beautifully and shows normal use wear as pictured. This is a very well made heavy. Thick walled jug. It is sold as is. $16.00 postage.

This is a great vintage find. It came from an"of a 89 year old woman. She said it was her fathers and mothers. The jug is in wonderful condition. There is only one small chip on it. It is on the side of the mouth(see picture 4) There has NOT been any repairs. There are no cracks on the jug. Just that one small chip. I measures 9 1/2" X 8" some surface scratches nothing dramatic. The one gallon jug is made of stoneware and with brown glazed also has the original corncob stopper. I have not tried to clean it. I always leave that to the new owner. This is a AS IS sale. Old Primitive Farmhouse Glazed Stoneware Pottery Crock Jug/w Wood Handle NICE GREETINGS! For your consideration: A beautiful glazed stoneware earthenware pottery jug! Looks to be about a 1 gallon container. Possibly a water, molasses or syrup jug. This jug is in very good condition with no cracks or chipping. Details can be seen in the photos. It measures approximately 10" tall, 24" wide around the middle and 6 1/2" wide across the bottom. Comes with the original cork firmly in place, though looks as though a part of it has been broken off. Also has a nice iron and wood handle in great condition. The iron has a bit of rust, but I find it adds to the rustic charm. There are no identifying markings on this piece, but there are a few things we can tell you about it. Great very large(13.5" tall. 9.5" across) gray/cream colored primitive country crock jug in excellent condition. Cork has worked its way inside and I can't retrieve it. Not sure of age- it has no maker's marks on it. Bottom has one small place that could be a chip or could simply be part of the way it was made, but it cannot be seen when the jug is sitting upright(I've taken a picture of it) Great collectible piece and would look fabulous in any country or primitive setting! Early Stoneware Salt Glazed Speckled Whiskey Moonshine Jug Crock
Up for bid is an Antique. Whiskey stoneware/crock Jug. This jug has a very unusual but beautiful brown speckled patina in the part that usually would be cream color. The jug is 11" tall and the base is 7" in diameter. The jug is marked with the potters initial"E" Due to age and use there are some imperfections. There are some snail tracks in the glaze located near the handle and around the handle(pictures 6-8) Couple of small chips on the handle(picture 9& 10) and an area in the body of the jug that looks like a flaw in the clay or a hairline crack. Also, a small one near the base of the jug(picture 11& 12) Jug is quite heavy and weighs almost 7 pounds! All items are offered and sold in“AS IS” condition. What you are viewing is an amazing antique 9 1/2in tall salt glazed stoneware crock from the mid- late 1800s. Piece comes complete with museum catalog# and may have come from a museum collection.
