This company existed from 1883 to 1906; ... morein 1906 it merged with Red Wing Stoneware Company to form Red Wing Union Stoneware Company. The embossed writing on the bottom is 1/2 of an inch tall and says: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO RED WING; however due to sloppiness during manufacturing, some of this writing is indecipherable. The handle was attached by hand and was attached at an angle; this and other manufacturing defects make this jug unique. This jug was touching another piece of stoneware during firing and when the two pieces were separated, the other piece got off with some of this jug's glaze from the handle and side. This jug is 8 3/4" tall and the bottom is 7 3/4" in diameter. This jug has 0 cracks and 0 chips, however it does have some glaze skips and the previously mentioned manufacturing defects. Check out my other listings as I combine shipping when practical. This saves the buyer money. The buyer is assured this MINNESOTA STONEWARE jug will be well packaged and shipped promptly. For sale is a circa early 1900's R.H. MACY'S NEW YORK stoneware jug. The Jug is Brown on the top and White on the bottom. It measures approximately 101/2" in height and 7" in width. The pottery has a glaze finish. There are two small chips at the top portion of the jug opening as well as a small glaze line in the same area. there is also a 2/1/2" brown line which I cannot identify in the white part of the jug. The item up for auction is a very unique piece of pottery. It is brown at the base and fades into a warm cream at the drip design top. Gorgeous! Circa 1930's ESTATE FIND! This piece of pottery has an interesting unique design to it. There are 3 half circle cut outs around the sides of the base of the piece. This gives it a very artistic and vintage feel. Very Old Brown & White Molasses Or Whiskey Pottery Jug
Here is a molasses jug made out of pottery that was used back in the day to store Moonshine. I can't say this one had moonshine in it. Jug stands a tad over 11 inches tall and is 7 inches across the base. Does have two chips which is common with these jugs to have some chipping from lots of use. One chip is on one side of the handle and the other one is on the bottom near the edge. You should be able to see them in the pictures. As you can see it displays well. Vintage Stoneware Crock Jug - 2 Tone Brown/Tan & Off White
Vintage stoneware crock jug. The jug is a 2 tone brown/tan and off white. The jug is approximately 11" tall and 6 1/2" in diameter(measured on bottom) tape measure shown in photos as well. The jug is not perfect and does have some wear but just adds to the character of the piece. I tried to capture all main wear in the attached photos. There are some chips along bottom edge. An area of crazing on one side, a couple stoneware imperfections on one side in the brown area(doesn't look to be chips- looks to be be from when made) I have found no cracks. This is a nice stoneware crock that was evidently used for canning. It is 15 inches tall. And 12 inches in diameter. It holds 5 gallons. It does show a crack on the bottom, but it doesn't leak. The top opening is almost 3-1/2 inches across. This type is very rare and hard to find. Other 5 gallon jugs have small top openings like a whiskey bottle or are completely open and shaped like a can. Most recently. This was full of straw, and held artificial flowers, but it would make a GREAT cookie jar! Please look at all of the pictures. The number 5 is in blue near the upper portion white portion with little blue feathery or fleur-de-lis symbold on either side of the 5. Unsure who the manufacturer of this jug is. But it's a heavy one. Top and handle are dark brown, has a narrow unglazed ledge, white on the lower part. Purchased 27 years ago at an antique auction, kept inside since. It is marked on the bottom with the impressed Davenport over an anchor mark which was used from 1810 to 1825. The hunting scene sprigs are very sharp. And at 6.5 inches tall and wide, this is a very impressive looking pitcher. Early 1800s very interestingly sprigged little brown and white stoneware jug
We are listing this very interestingly sprigged early 1800s brown and white stoneware jug- see the close up pictures for the quality of these sprigs(the jug is unmarked except for a small impressed letter x on the bottom) The front sprig is a procession of putti and a lion. One side sprig is Toby Philpot, and the other side sprig is a young boy with his dog- a unique combination of classical and contemporary 1800 themes. Very nice little early 1800s brown and white glazed and sprigged stoneware jug
We are listing this very nice little early 1800s brown and white stoneware jug which is nicely sprigged with a scene of three Georgian children playing with an animal on the front. And two different scenes of two classical women standing at an alter on the sides. In addition to the sprigging the jug features a very nice foliate terminal handle and engine turning around the base(largely filled in with glaze) The jug is less than 3 inches tall, less than 4 inches at its widest point, and in excellent condition. Cute little early 1800s Georgian brown & white glazed stoneware hunt jug
We are listing this cute little early 1800s Georgian brown and white glazed stoneware jug. Which is sprigged all around with a hunting scene. The jug is unmarked, but in addition to the hunt sprigging, there is a band of leaves sprigged below the rim(with a row of beading above that) The jug is 3.25 inches tall, 4.5 inches at its widest point, and in good condition. There is a piece of tree sprigging missing, the usual separation lines in the sprigging, and a few little spots of missing brown glaze. Still, it is a cute little 200 year old jug. Fantastic early 1800s Georgian brown and white sprigged felspathic stoneware jug
We are listing this extremely nice early 1800s Georgian white felspathic stoneware jug with very detailed white classical/mythological sprigs applied over a dark brown background. Although the jug is unmarked(as most of these felspathic jugs are) The quality of the finish and the details of the sprigging indicates this was produced by a pottery on the level of Wedgwood or Spode(I would add Turner as well, but their jugs did not usually feature the handle style of this jug) The large front sprig features four putti with a ram(one of the putti is unique to my knowledge) and the two side sprigs are different classical mythology scenes. In addition, the handle and the spout are nicely decorated, and there is a band of engine turning between the sprigging and the base. The jug is 5.25 inches tall, 6.25 inches at its widest point, and in very good ... morecondition for a 200 year old piece of pottery. There is a tiny flake on each side of the spout, a thin separation line under the top join of the handle, some faint hairlines on the bottom of the jug, and some of the usual minor separation lines in the sprigging.
