This nicely glazed wide-mouthed Moonshine Whiskey Jug is free of any blemishes and has no identifying markings underneath. The finish is in excellent condition and makes for a nice display piece. Age is unknown. But item has been displayed in in our smoke-free home for more than 30 years. And it was considered antique when we found it. It measures approximately 9 3/4 iinches tall with a 5 1/4 inch base. It's a 2 quart size with glazing inside.and is a grayish.brownish color. It has some small chips on the rim and a chip on the base which measures about 1 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. There is no makers mark.nor is there any moonshine left in it!

Very nice brown glaze. There is a glazed over dent on the top of one side and some glazed over pits. There is glazed defect on the handle. See photos. There is 3-111 marks at the bottom back of jug. Antique Jug This jug looks to hold about 1 gallon of fluid. It is 11.5 inches tall and 8 inches in diameter. It does not have any identifying marks that I can see. I found this in an old. Overgrown shed at an estate sale. This jug was on a shelf next to a few other jugs labeled"Whiskey" this was the best looking one of them all. This jug is in great condition for its age; it does not have any cracks. And it does not have any major chips. It has only one small shallow chip on the top edge, please see the picture. This is an old stoneware/ceramic jug/crock that has been in storage for a lot of years. Could it have been used for whiskey or moonshine? It is a tannish gray at the bottom with brown at the top. No markings on it and no cork. Does have the usual blemishes that come with something this primitive and has a small chip at the bottom(could have been original) I'm not a good judge- this is probably about a one gallon size. Up for sale a Jugtown gray salt glazed squat handled moonshine jug. Bought at an estate auction in South Central Pennsylvania. This item is in Excellent condition and includes a unique corn cob cork. Started in 1917 in North Carolina Jugtown Pottery is finely made and extremely collectible. The jug measures 4.5 inches in diameter and is 5 inches in height to the top of the cork. This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. Scarce old black jug made by using black iron oxide. The photos. Taken outdoors, don't really show that this is a true black. This stands just under 9" tall and is approx. 6" across at it's widest point. This has a great sparkle from the salt glaze. It just wouldn't photograph. No chips or cracks. The spots in the photos are firing flaws. There is two scrapes. About 1" and 2" long on one side, that occurred before firing. There are glaze drips towards the bottom. KENTUCKY FARM FIND 1/2 GALLON SIZE BOURBON WHISKEY MOONSHINE HAND TURNED GREAT FORM AND FINISH. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE STONEWARE JUG offered as acquired from estate. I discovered this piece a few years back in a barn in Henry County. Kentucky, and am offering it just as found- magnificent old piece with great form. Has subtly defined ribs from turning. Applied handle, and I really like the shape on this one; shoulders do not flare in a pronounced way, so you ... moreget more of a minie ball shape than a beehive. If it was good enough for a moonshiner, it's good enough for me! Jug holds 8 cups(1/2 gallon) of fluid comfortably to shoulders. Or 9 if the guy filling it up really likes you. Stands almost 10 inches tall and is about 5 1/4 inches diameter at base. Condition is difficult to describe with these pieces, as you expect some normal imperfections in the original glaze, and there may be a few original slips in the paint or pinpoint wear, but there are no notable chips, cracks, dings or repairs of any kind. One area around side/base join looks a bit jinxy, but this is obviously the original craftsmanship and not damage. There is one bit of a nick in the handle, but it is under the original paint and glaze. So it's original. There are plenty of photos from every angle, so check all of them out: This is a nice one here, with real character and collectible value- have at it! Up for bid is an Antique. Whiskey stoneware/crock Jug. This jug has a very unusual but beautiful brown speckled patina in the part that usually would be cream color. The jug is 11" tall and the base is 7" in diameter. The jug is marked with the potters initial"E" Due to age and use there are some imperfections. There are some snail tracks in the glaze located near the handle and around the handle(pictures 6-8) Couple of small chips on the handle(picture 9& 10) and an area in the body of the jug that looks like a flaw in the clay or a hairline crack. The jug has a few chips and imperfections typical of this type of stoneware. It has its own individuality. The brown part on top has an interesting pattern where the salt was thrown on for the glaze. Antique Glazed Brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug Circa 1880 -Rare small size
Up for sale is a rare size Antique glazed dark brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug circa 1880-1900. This jug measures 6 3/8" tall from the top of the handle to the base. The base measures 5" across. This was meant to be filled for individual daily use. LOL. It was difficult to get the accurate color to reflect in the pictures because of lighting and camera flash but this jug is not 2 toned. It is one solid dark brown. When it was in the kiln it was too close to another jug which is the reason for the area on the side which measures about 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall. There is another spot where the jug must have"dinged" with another by all appearances that happened during the making process. The clip is perfect as is the handle. Two-tone base colors; brown upper 1/3 of jug and a tan bottom 2/3rd's. The flash of the camera in photos#5 and#6 really brought out the beautiful variants of color in the brown area not noticeable under normal room lighting conditions. The brown flecks in the tan area are noticeable as is the rough pebbled surface. Which from my research appears to be rather rare. I find no cracks or breaks. I find 2 small chips on the upper rim of the tan area. I find no brand marks. Has a wooden cork. A great decorative item. Small Antique Stoneware Two-tone Whiskey/Moonshine Jug (Nice "Glazed" Shine)
I found this in my Grandfather's Collection. It has been stored in his attic for years. I think it is a whiskey/moonshiner jug. As far as I know it's an antique and because of that. It isn't 100% perfect. It has some flaws as shown. Please use your own judgement as you view the pictures. I tried to upload many different views. It has some wear. And what appears to be chips or nicks on the body of the jug. I cleaned the outside before I listed it, but the inside might need some more cleaning, not sure. Please view all 12 pictures for more details on the condition. Top part looks like it was glazed because it has a nice shine to it. Some camera flash glare shown in the pictures though. LARGE ANTIQUE GLAZED STONEWARE MOONSHINE BEEHIVE SHAPED JUG 1 GALLON
Offered here is an old glazed stoneware moonshine jug in excellent vintage condition. There are a few small shallow old chips around the bottom as well as the common manufacturing defects common with pottery of this era. The applied handle has a distinct thumbprint indentation on one side. It is 10" tall and 7 1/2 across the base. With an applied handle for easy lifting!
