Antique J. C. Schnell's Whiskey Jug Stoneware Ohio Salt Glaze Advertising
This whiskey jug is from the J.C. Schnell& Co. liquor store of Cincinnati Ohio. It is circa 1880-1900 Standing 8 1/2 inches tall. The jug is marked"J. C. Schnell's Sour Mash Kiln Dried Grain Whisky. Within the incised lettering is the Maltese cross. There are two small chips to the rim as shown in the pictures, and no other cracks or damage. The brown spot on the front is a kiln burn, where another jug rubbed against this one during firing. This is a really cool old advertising jug, and displays very well, with the old vintage cork included. Please see all the pics, as they show things in detail. This jug comes from an old collection that has not seen the light of day in over 30 years.

Very rare 1/2 gallon stoneware shoulder jug from the short-lived merger(1 year only 1906-07) of the Hugh O'Neill Dry Goods Store and the Adams Dry Goods Store located at 655 and 675 6th Ave. NYC. The building was originally Hugh O'Neill's Dry Goods Store, and was designed by Mortimer C. Merritt in the neo-Greco style. It was built to four stories in two stages ... morebetween 1887 and 1890, to allow the existing O'Neill store to continue operating during construction, with the addition of a fifth floor in 1895, created by raising the pediment. The gilded corner domes of this cast-iron-fronted building were restored c.2000. On the death of Hugh O'Neill in 1902, his heirs were unable to continue running the business, which was sold and merged in 1907 with the Adams Dry Goods Store immediately to the north at 675 Sixth Avenue. The combined business did not succeed and, like all the department stores in the Ladies' Mile, was gone by the advent of World War I. Excellent Antique ES&B Advertising Stoneware Whisky Jug Hayner Lock Box 290 Ohio
This is a fantastic antique stoneware jug. Marked ES&B on the bottom with crisp, bold cobalt advertising on the front for Hayner Lock Box 290 of Dayton, Ohio and shiny, even glaze. It holds about a gallon. The condition is excellent, there are absolutely no cracks and only one tiny flake missing from the bottom edge, shown in the photos. It has light crazing all over the glaze, giving it a charming vintage look. It measures about 6 5/8" W x 11" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

The item for sale is a hard to find small antique stoneware Western Stoneware jug in good overall condition. This piece is original. The jug has ho chips or breaks. There is a seam separation where the top section meets the base section(see pics) This does not go through and the piece does not leak even under pressure. A couple of glaze skips. Crazing comensurate with age. One very small chip along the outside of the mouthpiece(see listing and photos please for greater detail) Script is clear and bright; shows almost no wear. 2 Glaze skips. Both about the size of the one pictured. Crazing is most notable on the bottom 1/3 of the jug as well as on the underside. One very small. Shallow chip along the outside rim of the mouthpiece(approx. 1/8" Any slight chips on the underside are under the glaze coat. 1/2" cut mark" under the glaze coat along the side brown area(see photo) I was able to find a"Charles& Co.
