You are bidding on a vtg/antique Glen Garry Old Highland Whiskey stoneware jug produced by Port Dundas Pottery(Glasgow. Scotland) somewheres between 1878 and when the factory closed in 1930. From the makers mark we are fairly certain this piece dates to about 1901-1919. Around 1920-1930 Port Dundas Pottery begain marking their stoneware with just the words"Made in Scotland" pic 12) Although Port Dundas was in business since 1828, it wasn't until 1878 when they were the first to introduce transfer printing, onto stoneware and advertised they could stamp bottles in color(In this case black) This would have been with a hand held rubber stamp, taken from an etched copper plate. This stoneware jug is in exceptional condition for its age. No chips. Cracks, or repairs. The original cork is missing. The black transfer graphics are still ... morevery clear and crisp. For your consideration is an estate find. It is a 1 QT. size Antique Stoneware Pottery Two tone Whisky Jug or Crock with a finger handle. It measures about 9" tall x 5 1/2" in diameter It has no cracks or chips on the spout or the handle. there are three small(very small) chips around the top flat edge. The rest of the jug looks to be near perfect. It does not have a cork. I am not sure of the age. But someone more versed in old crocks and jugs may be able to provide me with more information. Nice old one gallon whiskey shoulder jug from Western Stoneware Co. in Monmouth. IL. It has been used and shows some wear mainly around the bottom. There is a surface crack around the bottom(pic. 4) but the jug doesn't leak. The bottom edge has a couple of chips, see pics. 5-6. There are a couple of spots where the brown shiny glaze wasn't applied uniformly at the factory. I do not have a cork for this jug. Shipping allows for double boxing. We are pleased to offer a I.W. Harper Whiskey stoneware jug from Nelson County. Kentucky. The jug once contained whiskey from the Bernheim Distilling Co. of Louisville, KY. It features brown lettering on Cream Color and there is crazing throughout. It touts the fact that the whiskey was awarded by the World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exp/1884-1885/New Orleans. I have read that the"I W" initials were borrowed from Isaac's own name. I do not know if this is original as I've never seen another of these bottles to actually have a stopper. Making this jug more'complete' than most. Paired with a very old pewter drinking mug with curved handle. Glass base and embossed design on sides. It has been repaired along the upper rim but is still fully functioning. Antique 5 Gallon Brown Glazed Top Tennessee Stoneware Pottery Whisky Beehive Jug
This is a fantastic antique two-toned brown and natural glazed stoneware whisky jug from Tennessee that is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It is beautiful all over with the rich. Even, shiny, brown glaze on the top and the even natural toned glaze on the bottom that is covered with natural crazing from age(shown in the last photo) giving it a charming vintage look. There is some light scuffing and scratching on the surface, but no other obvious damage. I haven't tried to fill it, but it is the same size as other 5 gallon jugs I have and it is definitely larger than a 3 gallon, so I believe it holds 5 gallons. It measures 11" W x 18" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

It has the common Albany slip glaze that is hand applied to the top above the shoulder and the classic bristol glaze below the shoulder. This jug was probably slip cast in a mold circa 1890-1920 and holds about 2 gallons. These type jugs were sold primarily to be used as water or vinegar jugs. It is not signed. The jug is in very good antique condition with some minor chips on the high sharp edges(see photos) No cracks. It is very heavy weighing about 12 pounds. The jug will hold fluid and does not leak. Very interesting heavy thick walled glazed stoneware jug with applied handle. AKA whisky moonshine shoulder jug. It measures 11" tall and 7" wide at base. It has age discoloration. Crazing and makers imperfections on it but it is solid with no cracks or chunks missing. Really nice patina. I have owned it for 10 years and wood cork and cotton rag was in when I got it.
