For sale is an antique Bee-Hive Shape Stoneware Crock Jug. Made by Red Wing Stoneware from what I can find. Is marked"Brennerberg Vineyards The Jacob Brenner Wine Co Wine Growers Doniphan Kansas" I am relisting this due to it having a flaw/repair that I did not catch the first time. Has had a hole made in the bottom(possibly to make a lamp) Then patched, then the bottom painted to conceal flaw. Paint matches the color of the glaze. You can not tell by looking at the bottom. Using a flashlight to look through the top, the patched hole looks to be 2" x 2" or 3" or 3" Hard to tell by looking through the small top. Good Condition, no chips or cracks. Some minor scratches. Size not marked, appears to be a 2 gallon jug. Obviously display the same, but wanted to clearly point out the issue. Unmarked, but undoubtedly a signature piece from the Edmands& Co. manufactory, just north of Boston. Edward and Thomas Edmands operated this pottery in Charlestown, 1852-1868. There is a small chip and general wear on the base, and professional restoration to the handle; otherwise mint. This Keeper will display quite prominently in any Antique Stoneware collection. 19th Century Brown Utilitarian Pottery
Hand-Made Ceramic Jug This is a very old hand'spun' piece of domestic pottery. It's fairly small. About 6" so maybe it was made for cream? There is nothing fancy about it at all. There are some inclusions in the pottery, under the glaze but that is very common with the older, home made pieces. They didn't make them to be pretty-they made them to be functional. Check out the image of the bottom of the pitcher. That's my favorite part about the pitcher! You can see how the color was added. Kind of splashed on! The crock measures 6-7/8 inches tall and the base is 5- 5/8 inches in diameter. There are a couple of minor nicks on the underneath side of the lid. Missing glaze and small nicks on the lid where the bail handle latches down, and some crazing. And approx. 3 1/2" wide, 6" from the front to the end of the handle. This jug has beautiful multi-color drip glaze. The interior sides are also glazed. He has a frothy mug on his left knee which he holds with both hands. He has an angry look on his face! There is no makers mark on the bottom. There may be a purple stamp or initials on the inner part of the hat(the area has a rough surface) although I can't make it out. It is quite heavy.almost 2 lbs! He is in very good condition. FABULOUS antique 1842 Jones and Walley, Gipsey pitcher jug, Witches Jug, Parian
This wonderful jug is from a Jones and Walley design of 1842 and is labeled as shown on the bottom.This art pottery pitcher dates to the period between 1842 to 1845. It is stoneware and was produced by Jones& Walley Pottery of Cobridge England in the Staffordshire area. The pitcher has a documentary cartouche on the base which says"Published July 1. 1842 by Jones& Walley Cobridge" It also has the word"Gipsey" This pattern has sometimes been referred to as"The Witch Pitcher" because it has elaborate detailed images. Referred to as'relief molded" depicting a woman wearing a pointed cap like a witch's, stirring a large pot over a fire. She and a companion are deep in a forest, which is detailed with tree trunks, twisted branches, and leaves. The opposite side of the pitcher shows a family, also ... moredeep in a forest in a shelter. The father is watching over a young child and a woman caring for a baby. The family dog lies at her feet. The base of the pitcher is made up of twisted tree roots which wrap around and then swoop upward to form a large tree trunk in front which swells into the pitcher's spout. This spout is covered with finely detailed leaves and the pitcher gives the impression of a tree sheltering these two groups of people. Very Old Brown & White Molasses Or Whiskey Pottery Jug
Here is a molasses jug made out of pottery that was used back in the day to store Moonshine. I can't say this one had moonshine in it. Jug stands a tad over 11 inches tall and is 7 inches across the base. Does have two chips which is common with these jugs to have some chipping from lots of use. One chip is on one side of the handle and the other one is on the bottom near the edge. You should be able to see them in the pictures. As you can see it displays well. Description: This 19 th century stoneware jug is approx. 7 5/8” high x 6 ½” wide with a 2 ¼” wide mouth. The jug holds approx. 10 cups of liquid to the rim. It was hand thrown and glazed in a chocolate brown. There are no maker’s marks but has the characteristics of an early primitive glazed piece. It was purchased at the Brimfield Antique Market many years ago. The piece has a tight 7/8” line on the lip. A 3/16” chip to the base along with typical flakes and firing pops. This jug was wrapped up in the bottom of an old box with old seashells, oceanic pottery pieces and some New Guinea Made items like part of a mask(all sold) I think it is terracotta? Hubby thinks it was found in the ocean with the other items but I think it could be an aquarium decoration? I think It's too small to have a useful primitive item? I guess it could have been used for medicine, powder, face paint, sap or something? I believe it is hollow but the inside is plugged by something. It measures approx. 6.5"high. 5"Widest, bottom base is 3 1/4, spout is off center and sticks out 2 1/4" Curly handle is 3 3/8" long. There are no makers marks. No cracks. Early J. Fisher Lyons NY Jug 2 Gallon Cobalt Script Design Stoneware Antique
This 2 gallon jug came from an auction in Vermont. It has the cobalt script design with the number 2 and the imprint J. Fisher Lyons. NY. This is the mark of Jacob Fisher who ran the pottery in Lyons, N.Y. from 1872 through 1902. The jug measures 13 1/2" high and 9" in diameter at the base. It is in good condition for it's age, no cracks. There are two chips on the spout, see the 7th and 8th pictures. There is some wear, use and surface marks. The base has a surface chip/rub spot, see the 11th picture. The jug is a tan color.

Amsterdam- Liquors" in a document on the Web titled"International Exhibition" dated 1876. Has wear with age includes surface markings and residue. The handle to the jug had broken off at some point in time as you can see by the cracks at top and bottom of handle. Despite this. The handle feels very secure and in place. There are a couple of chip marks at the bottom of the jug. Needs to be cleaned as I've made no attempt to do so. Please look closely at my pictures as I do consider them part of my description. This is a lovely piece of very old Majolica. It is in very good condition. Typical of Majolica is has flaws. There is a small one- and what looks like a very find hair line crack- but it does not go through to front. There would appear to be something like an initial on the bottom. Early Victorian Charles Meigh Relief-Molded Jug
This amazing robin’s egg blue Charles Meigh jug in waisted shape and large scrolling handle was done at the height of the Staffordshire relief jug era; that is. In the 1840s. The swept spout has a signature Charles Meigh mask underneath which adds much decorative appeal. The principle motifs are monkeys dressed in capes and jackets. With Indian headdresses and feathers in the caps. They seem to be preoccupied playing card games and smoking their pipes. There are leaves that swirl around the top third of the jug. While fish scales dominate the background where the monkeys are playing. The bottom edge of the jug has shells in relief to further enhance the design. The top of the jug is deeply scalloped, culminating in the raised spout. This is a beautiful quality piece, and one that would enhance any collection. Up for auction is a 1850's Edmands& Co. 2 gallon cobalt blue decorated speckled bird on branch stoneware jug. This image is of a lovely speckled bird perched on a branch. The specks on the bird and the leaves are heavily raised dots of cobalt blue. There are some large cracks to the body(as shown in photos) Also a chip on the handle and a couple of small chips to the bottom of this jug. However, this does not take away from this rare image, still in such great condition. Edmands& Co. was in Charlestown, Mass. Edward and Thomas Edmands ran the pottery company from 1852- 1868. Beautiful antique piece has a very high gloss and an unusual tone I have never seen one with this multi tones of color and super high gloss gives the appearance of different shades of browns and tones that are lovely. see photos. Moonshine or whiskey was in storage for a very long time but is in fantastic condition very thick pottery or stoneware not sure. Have had offers before finally decided to sell. it has been used as a book end the past 12 years since it was found in a family storage barn. Im sure it was there at least 40 years. probably much longer than that but i can only say for sure all my life of 40 years. Looks like a wiskey jug, weaved pattern look, this is from the Atlantic Mold company, on the bottom it is roughly signed by Goode and numbered 2940, I can only assume this was the person that perhaps glazed it? I have looked it over really well, I cannot see any chips, no cracks, no hairline fractures, nothing, this appears perfect, other than the felt on the bottom is a bit worn, that's it! Some may call this Yellow ware? Not sure, the color is some where between yellow, orangy and tanish brownish? Nice weave! LOL) This stands aprox. 9 1/2" tall and is aprox. 4 1/2" wide.
