An original, antique, circa first half of the 19th century, ovoid stoneware jug which measures approximately 12" tall and which carries the impressed ... morepotters mark I. Seymour Troy. Jug has a very unusual lip treatment which I have not seen of a piece made by this potter previously. Condition - excellent with no crack or restoration just one old tiny nick on the top of the lip and one at the base edge both mentioned for complete accuracy. A very odd piece by this early famous Troy new York stoneware potter.

From F.H. Cowden’s Pottery of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania comes this hand crafted 1 gallon ovoid shaped primitive salt glazed jug. The floral spray was handpainted ... morein the earlier darker cobalt blue typical of the glaze used 1860-1863, before Cowden took Isaac Wilcox as partner during the Civil War. No cracks/hairlines/restoration noted. 3 chips noted to outer spout, easily seen in photos. Floral blue glaze shows burst bubbles/blanches from the firing process (see photos.) 1 area, seen in photos, of lower petal glaze loss from process. Potter’s marks noted on the body. Blue glaze also highlights the handle terminals. A few drip marks noted from candle wax during use (I opted not to remove.) Dimensions: 11” height; 7” width at belly; 6” width at base; 5lbs 3oz weight.

Bottom Marked Stoneware Cone Top One Gallon Jug by Buckeye Pottery
For your consideration is a vintage stoneware jug made by the BUCKEYE POTTERY of MACOMB ILLINOIS. This jug is a one gallon size and is the cone top style. I do not know much about this company. What I do know is this company was formed in 1882 and was sold in 1941; I beleive this jug to have been manufactured during the first decade of the twentieth century. In 1882, the technology to use this type of glaze had not been invented. The companies that I have studied got the technology to use this type of glaze between 1894 and 1901. From the table to the shoulder is approximately 7" This jug has a total height of approximately 10 3/4" The bottom is slightly over 7" in diameter. Bottom Marked 1 Gal. Stoneware Cone Top Jug by Buckeye Pottery Macomb, Illinois
For your consideration is a one gallon cone top shoulder jug. Made of stoneware. Debossed into the bottom it says: THE BUCKEYE POTTERY CO MACOMB ILL The writing is glazed over, but I could see 0 punctuation. This company existed 1882-1941. The height is almost 10 1/2" and the bottom is approximately 7" in diameter. There are 0 cracks, however there is a very minor(probably insignificant) chip.

6" Pint? Stoneware Jug Marked USA Whiskey Wine Micro-Brew Marbles Money Storage
Tp point out an errorhat most sellers feel. Nothing marked USA is determined from that mark, only by exact side-by-side comparrisons can one be associated with an exact company.from oldantiquepottery dot info USA Pottery Mark Some Information If you are familiar at all with pottery. You will notice a large number of pieces that are marked with only"USA" There is not a USA Pottery Company that produced these wares. For a sufficient explanation of why pieces are marked like this. Lets start in the 1800's. Back then, most pottery was created to be used in everyday life by an individual that probably lived near you. The makers rarely marked these pieces because beyond their usefulness, the items weren't much to look at. imagine an old, brown stoneware crock) As pottery techniques matured around the turn of the century, many ... morelarger potteries were formed. think industrialization) Many produced artistic works that the creator would want recognition for his efforts. Anyway, every company had their own rules about marking their wares. Marks would sometimes include company name, logo/ symbol, an artist signature, mold number, initials, country, state, city, what they had for lunch, etc. etc. Many companies would include no mark at all. Or, they opted for a simple paper/ foil sticker instead. The stickers rarely stayed on the pieces long, and they'd wind up unmarked. Around the time of WW I, many businesses felt a patriotic need to include USA on their goods. This may have been also due to their exporting items overseas. Later on around WWII(I think? the US government passed a law that all imported goods had to be marked with their country of origin. Some American companies saw this and decided that they no longer needed to include USA mark, because the imports would be stamped"Japan" China" or whatever and people would know an unmarked piece was made here. Other companies continued to use the USA mark. Others continued to use it, on some types of pottery. Other businesses decided to use

Antique Stoneware Jug- Blue Flower- Engraved/Marked F
First off thank you for viewing my item. I would like to apologize ahead of time for my lack of knowledge about this piece- I am not very knowledgeable in the area of stoneware crocks/jugs. This is an estate cleanout item and it appeared to have some age so I held onto it.Anyways I have tried to take many quality photos to best accurately describe what we have here and the overall condition. Here's what I do know. The jug measures approx. 10 1/4' tall and is just over 7' in diameter at the bottom. There is an"F" engrave at the bottom of jug just under blue floral design. There are 3"roundish" areas at the top rounded edges of the jug where it has lost its sheen and is more dull with what looks to be rust stain or tarnish. I'm guessing this was sitting on something or rubbing on something in these areas.you ... moreshould be able to see what I'm trying to describe in the photos. There are no cracks I can see and only a few small chips around the base. Handle and spout both look VERY nice- not chipped at all. Please feel free to ask any questions if I may have left something out.

It weighs 13 ounces. I purchased this miniature jug at an Estate Sale and I don't know how old it is but it does look like it has some age to it. It looks like there is a cork stuck inside the jug along with some small pieces of paper/foil. I don't see any chips or cracks and I can see a little bit of crazing near the bottom. The lower part of the jug looks ... morelike a tan color and the upper area is a dark brown color. The tan color looks like it has some swirls of lighter tan colors. I lightly cleaned the jug with a little bit of water on a cloth. It does look like it could use a good cleaning. There is a little bit of a pink color on the section between the brown and tan colored areas; I don't know if it is a stain or not. This little Whiskey Jug will make a nice display piece! MUST SEE NM "OLD TIME" STONEWARE JUG W/ CORK, UNK YEAR/MAKER, MARKED A7 @ HANDLE
I AM SELL THIS BEAUTIFUL STONEWARE CROCK JUG. I don't know much about this beautiful near mint crock jug with cork. There are some very minor chipping around the edge. I think this will make a great addition to anyone's crock ware collection! The only markings I found are an A7 located by the ring handle. I don't know if this is really old or a reproduction. If it is really valuable or not. I am sorry if I offend anyone with me writing in"Hillbilly" under the style, I didn't mean it to be hurtful. There is a small ding/flake toward the bottom of the jug, as I have noted in the pic, however it does not detract from a great display and is quite common in antique stoneware. If you're into antique stoneware jugs that are MARKED. This puppy is for you. look n' see. Pics speak for themselves!

McDade 2 Gallon Jug Antique Stoneware Pottery Marked number 2
About McDade Pottery: January 26 1893 On this day in 1893. Robert L. Williams produced the first piece of ware in the new McDade Pottery plant. The plant was the successor to a"jug shop" begun in 1853 in the vicinity of what is now Bastrop State Park. It was moved to McDade in the late 1870s, and Williams, who was experienced in ceramic processes and recognized the potential for McDade clay, bought the business in 1890. He built a new plant that covered three acres, complete with two brick beehive kilns, clay-grinding equipment, and a railroad siding. He continued the potter's-wheel turning of specialty items and the production of food-storage vessels and housewares, but also added new products. Cited From tshaonline) This piece of McDade pottery is in excellent shape. I purchased this piece out of a shop in Bellville Texas ... moreand I've had it displayed since. I am moving my collection in another direction. There are no cracks and the piece is great to admire.

We are listing this 1815-1835 English relief molded stoneware jug which is marked on the bottom with the raised Angels with Banner pad(also called the Angels pad) from that period. Daniel partnership) On page 106 of the book An Illustrated Guide to British Jugs there is a picture and discussion of this mark. The jug is decorated with floral designs, is almost 4.5 inches tall, and is almost 6 inches at its widest point. The jug itself is in excellent condition, however the handle has been cracked across the middle and reglued(see the closeup picture) The handle is quite stable, the jug displays well, and this is a rarely seen mark from 200 years ago. VTG Buchan Poison Decanter / Jug ~ Stoneware ~ Scotland ~ Marked / Numbered
Vintage Buchan Poison Decanter Jug w/Stopper ~ Stoneware ~ Marked/ Numbered ~ Made in Scotland Description: Up for sale is a very unique stoneware Poison Decanter/ Jug with a stopper. There are several markings on the bottom. But, some are hard to read or seem incomplete. It is marked Finest Stoneware, Made in Scotland, 180/26, P. I am not familiar with the company stamp/ logo; however, I believe that it is Buchan. Portobello. There is an area close to the bottom edge with a faint blue marking, it almost looks like initials. But I can't be for sure. It measures approximately 9 1/2" tall with the stopper. 7 1/4" tall without the stopper. 2 1/2" length of stopper. 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" bottom base. 15 1/2" around the widest area of the jug. Overall, it is in very good condition with a few issues. The bottom does ... morehave some table top wear. There is some discoloration on the inside lip. The stopper has a small rough rub area pointed out in a photo and it seems to be missing the cork that went around the stopper, so the stopper fits loosely inside the jug. It is a beautiful decanter/ jug. Please note: Photos do no always reflect the true colors. P lease checkout all of the photos(12) I have provided as they serve as a visual description.
