Bottom Marked Stoneware Cone Top One Gallon Jug by Buckeye Pottery
For your consideration is a vintage stoneware jug made by the BUCKEYE POTTERY of MACOMB ILLINOIS. This jug is a one gallon size and is the cone top style. I do not know much about this company. What I do know is this company was formed in 1882 and was sold in 1941; I beleive this jug to have been manufactured during the first decade of the twentieth century. In 1882, the technology to use this type of glaze had not been invented. The companies that I have studied got the technology to use this type of glaze between 1894 and 1901. From the table to the shoulder is approximately 7" This jug has a total height of approximately 10 3/4" The bottom is slightly over 7" in diameter. This jug has a crack on the cone, not far from the handle. It has a chip on the shoulder and another chip on the lip. This company was founded in 1877 and existed until 1906; in 1906 it merged with Minnesota Stoneware Co. also located in Red Wing, Minn. and formed Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. This jug was manufactured 1885-1906. This jug was manufactured using a two piece mold and the handle was hand applied after the jug was formed. It is glazed with a shiny brown glaze. We have for your viewing and bidding pleasure a collectible small antique stoneware jug. It is in a rather unusual and uncommon size. We believe it to be pint sized. It is in the old style and shape called the beehive design. On the bottom it is incised or marked with the name MACOMB POTTERY CO. The jug is in good condition with no breaks or chips. At the very bottom of the handle there is a small lined stress thin age crack. From the bottom of the base to where the cork starts it is about 5 ¼” high. Across the base it is 3” and it is 3 ½” across the widest bulged out area. We are listing the above described at least 100 year old antique jug at a no reserve selling price. For your consideration is a one gallon. Common style jug, made by Minnesota Stoneware Co. of Red Wing, Minnesota. This company existed from 1883 to 1906; in 1906 it merged with Red Wing Stoneware Company to form Red Wing Union Stoneware Company. The embossed writing on the bottom is 1/2 of an inch tall and says: MINNESOTA STONEWARE CO RED WING; however due to sloppiness during manufacturing, some of this writing is indecipherable. The handle was attached by hand and was attached at an angle; this and other manufacturing defects make this jug unique. This jug was touching another piece of stoneware during firing and when the two pieces were separated, the other piece got off with some of this jug's glaze from the handle and side. I assume this jug was one of the first pieces this company manufactured that had white glaze, because the turkey eye dripping leads me to believe it was fired right after salt glazed items were fired. The height is almost 10 1/2" and the bottom is approximately 7" in diameter. There are 0 cracks, however there is a very minor(probably insignificant) chip.

First off thank you for viewing my item. I would like to apologize ahead of time for my lack of knowledge about this piece- I am not very knowledgeable in the area of stoneware crocks/jugs. This is an estate cleanout item and it appeared to have some age so I held onto it.Anyways I have tried to take many quality photos to best accurately describe what we have here and the overall condition. Here's what I do know.The jug measures approx. 10 1/4' tall and is just over 7' in diameter at the bottom. There is an"F" engrave at the bottom of jug just under blue floral design. There are 3"roundish" areas at the top rounded edges of the jug where it has lost its sheen and is more dull with what looks to be rust stain or tarnish. I'm guessing this was sitting on something or rubbing on something in these areas.you ... moreshould be able to see what I'm trying to describe in the photos. There are no cracks I can see and only a few small chips around the base. Handle and spout both look VERY nice- not chipped at all. It weighs 13 ounces. I purchased this miniature jug at an Estate Sale and I don't know how old it is but it does look like it has some age to it. It looks like there is a cork stuck inside the jug along with some small pieces of paper/foil. I don't see any chips or cracks and I can see a little bit of crazing near the bottom. The lower part of the jug looks ... morelike a tan color and the upper area is a dark brown color. The tan color looks like it has some swirls of lighter tan colors. I lightly cleaned the jug with a little bit of water on a cloth. It does look like it could use a good cleaning. There is a little bit of a pink color on the section between the brown and tan colored areas; I don't know if it is a stain or not. This little Whiskey Jug will make a nice display piece! ANTIQUE 2 GAL. OVOID STONEWARE JUG-COBALT BLUE ACCENTS-MARKED “GOODWIN WEBSTER”
This is a lovely Antique 2 Gallon“Ovoid” Stoneware Jug featuring Cobalt Blue Accents around the Handle and Neck. The jug is clearly marked in front by the maker“GOODWIN WEBSTER” Horace Goodwin and Mack Webster operated the pottery in Hartford. Connecticut from 1831-1840. The ovoid jug is beautifully shaped standing 13” high and measuring 9” across its bulbous center from which it tapers upward to its 1-3/4” diameter neck and downward to 5” across its base. The jug has a period stoneware Gray/Tan color and features a wonderful Saltmarsh Glaze. The short somewhat off kilter neck has 2 decorative incised rings and the handle is similarly decorated its entire length with 3 incised lines, the deepest of which is at the center with a lesser one on either side. There is 1 tight hairline near the bottom and 2 old small chips along the edge of the ... morebase which can’t be seen when placed upright. The handle is noticeably chipped to one side of the incised decoration from long ago adding further to the character of the ovoid. There is no staining or discoloration. The jug has a 1/2” drilled hole near the base and must have been used as a lamp at one time and could again if desired. This is truly a lovely Antique 2 Gallon“Ovoid” Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Blue Accents marked“GOODWIN WEBSTER” which makes a striking display.

It is marked on the bottom with the impressed Davenport over an anchor mark which was used from 1810 to 1825. The hunting scene sprigs are very sharp. And at 6.5 inches tall and wide, this is a very impressive looking pitcher. Measuring 11.5 inches tall by 7 inches wide this striking. Excellent-condition, stoneware 1-gallon jug is marked"Providence Pub Market Co. Providence R.I. Which after some research. The only information we could find was an inspection report for the Company back in 1912. They passed safety and fire inspections with flying colors back then. Nice earth-tone color marked with blue ink. a portion of the label was not stamped when the jug was made. it's not chipped off, scraped off, or worn off. it was never there. There is a small ding/flake toward the bottom of the jug, as I have noted in the pic, however it does not detract from a great display and is quite common in antique stoneware.If you're into antique stoneware jugs that are MARKED. McDade 2 Gallon Jug Antique Stoneware Pottery Marked number 2
About McDade Pottery: January 26 1893 On this day in 1893. Robert L. Williams produced the first piece of ware in the new McDade Pottery plant. The plant was the successor to a"jug shop" begun in 1853 in the vicinity of what is now Bastrop State Park. It was moved to McDade in the late 1870s, and Williams, who was experienced in ceramic processes and recognized the potential for McDade clay, bought the business in 1890. He built a new plant that covered three acres, complete with two brick beehive kilns, clay-grinding equipment, and a railroad siding. He continued the potter's-wheel turning of specialty items and the production of food-storage vessels and housewares, but also added new products. English 1815-1835 Angels with Banner marked relief molded stoneware jug
We are listing this 1815-1835 English relief molded stoneware jug which is marked on the bottom with the raised Angels with Banner pad(also called the Angels pad) from that period. Impressed with the number 102(some experts have speculated that this mark may have been used by the H. R. Daniel partnership) On page 106 of the book An Illustrated Guide to British Jugs there is a picture and discussion of this mark. The jug is decorated with floral designs, is almost 4.5 inches tall, and is almost 6 inches at its widest point. The jug itself is in excellent condition, however the handle has been cracked across the middle and reglued(see the closeup picture) The handle is quite stable, the jug displays well, and this is a rarely seen mark from 200 years ago. We are listing this very rare English 1815-1830 white stoneware jug sprigged with very uncommon blue figures(see the close up pictures) It is marked on the bottom with a blue rectangular pad impressed with the number 115. A smaller version of the same jug is pictured and described on page 109 of the book An Illustrated Guide to British Jugs(which also notes that at this time few examples have been recorded) The listed jug is 7.5 inches tall. 7.5 inches at its widest point, and in very good condition. Excellent early 1800s marked WEDGWOOD blue and white stoneware hunt jug
We are listing this very nice early 1800s blue and white Wedgwood stoneware hunt jug. It is marked on the bottom with WEDGWOOD and a letter D at an angle above it. The early 1800s style hunt scene is very detailed and multi-layered and covers the whole jug. The jug also has the pinched rim at the spout which was in fashion in the early 1800s. It is slightly less than 5 inches tall. More than 4 inches at its widest point, and in excellent condition for a 200 year old piece of stoneware. There is a tiny flake of blue glaze missing under the rim on one side of the spout, and there are tiny separation lines at the front mold line and under the base of the handle. Bottom Marked One Gal. Minnesota Stoneware Red Wing Shoulder Jug w/ White Glaze
For your consideration is a one gallon shoulder jug made by Minnesota Stoneware Co. of Red Wing. Minnesota. The writing on the bottom says: MINNESOTA STONEWARE Co RED WING MINN. This company was founded in Red Wing, Minn. in 1883 and existed until 1906. In 1906, it merged with Red Wing Stoneware Co. and the new company became known as Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. The glaze indicates this jug was manufactured 1895-1906. This jug has a total height of 11" From the table to the shoulder is 7 1/4" and the bottom is 6 7/8" in diameter. There are 0 cracks, however on the shoulder are three minor chips and on the bottom edge, are some minor chips. Please carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description.

Antique Red Wing Minnesota Stoneware Marked 1 Gallon Wide Mouth Brown Whisky Jug
This is a nice antique bottom marked Red Wing/ Minnesota Stoneware wide mouth whisky jug with dark brown glaze in good. Clean condition. There are absolutely no cracks, but there is a chip on the handle that was repaired with a hard clay-like material, shown close-up in the photos. The glaze is shiny and even with a few very light scuffs and scratches. It measures 8" H x 7 3/4" in diameter. It will be packed securely and insured during shipping.

Listed is a antique brown stoneware beehive shaped jug that could have been used for whiskey or moonshine. It does not have cork. Jug is in very good condition and has a sidearm handle. Jug measures approx. 6 1/4"H and 5" across bottom. It is maker marked. Clark or Mark with some numbers and came from family estate in Shreveport La. This would make a beautiful display piece.
