VINTAGE JEROBOAM THISTLE OLD SCOTCH WHISKEY STONEWARE JUG ADVERTISING EXCELLENT
Jug Measures about 7.5" tall without the cork and dates to around 1900 or earlier. There is an early addition of felt to the bottom to prevent scratching on furniture. It could easily be removed. But I would leave it. This is a gorgeous piece. I have been buying and selling on eBay for years and have perfect feedback. I don't do returns unless I have made a mistake. Antique J. C. Schnell's Whiskey Jug Stoneware Ohio Salt Glaze Advertising
This whiskey jug is from the J.C. Schnell& Co. liquor store of Cincinnati Ohio. It is circa 1880-1900 Standing 8 1/2 inches tall. The jug is marked"J. C. Schnell's Sour Mash Kiln Dried Grain Whisky. Within the incised lettering is the Maltese cross. There are two small chips to the rim as shown in the pictures, and no other cracks or damage. The brown spot on the front is a kiln burn, where another jug rubbed against this one during firing. This is a really cool old advertising jug, and displays very well, with the old vintage cork included. Please see all the pics, as they show things in detail. This jug comes from an old collection that has not seen the light of day in over 30 years.

Illinois that is pictured on page 30 of Monmouth-Western Stoneware by Jim Martin and Bette Cooper. That being said: The way Armour is written is different. Since this jug or cruet is unmarked, I can only speculate as to the manufacturer. The upper part of this cruet or jug is tan. The lower part is white. Up for auction I have a nice old whiskey jug from the Triaca Co. Wholesale Dealers of Wines and Liquors. Located on S W Cor Light& Pratt Sts Baltimore Md USA. This jug stands 8-1/2 inches tall. The base is 5-1/2 inches across and the jug weighs a little over 3-1/2 pounds. The top and handle are in good condition. Some roughage and imperfections thru out. There is a chip on the base and what appears to be some hairlines at the base. There are very tight and almost looks more like heavy crazing. Auction for the Triaca jug only. Mint. Peoria Pottery advertising jug. It says" BEARDSLEY& BURGH. ROCK ISLAND, ILL" on its' front. I have two good pics of the advertising here. The bottom is marked"PEORIA POTTERY. I got a couple of fairly good photos of the bottom. The Peoria Pottery mark is a bit light. The jug is mint. The only thing is a area on the right side that shows that it had something touch its' side before being glazed during manufacturing. I only report this to be completely accurate. The glaze is a very heavy. Dark brown glaze with some reddish brown showing through in places like the lip and the advertising. It is a bit more than 10" in height and is about 7 1/4" in diameter. The building was originally Hugh O'Neill's Dry Goods Store, and was designed by Mortimer C. Merritt in the neo-Greco style. It was built to four stories in two stages ... morebetween 1887 and 1890, to allow the existing O'Neill store to continue operating during construction, with the addition of a fifth floor in 1895, created by raising the pediment. The gilded corner domes of this cast-iron-fronted building were restored c.2000. On the death of Hugh O'Neill in 1902, his heirs were unable to continue running the business, which was sold and merged in 1907 with the Adams Dry Goods Store immediately to the north at 675 Sixth Avenue. The combined business did not succeed and, like all the department stores in the Ladies' Mile, was gone by the advent of World War I. The building was converted to manufacturing lofts, and, c.1969, was again converted into offices. As of 2014, the building is owned by ElAd Properties, and was converted into condominiums in 2005. In great antique condition with 2 minor chips on the shoulder rim which only adds to it's charm. There are a few bits of extra stoneware blobs. No cracks noted. Please view all photos. Vintage stoneware advertising jug. Says Hazel Pure Food Co. Chicago-New York. I think this is made by Red Wing. But I'm not certain. There is no makers mark anywhere, and the research info. out there is very skimpy. Measures 10 1/2" high. 7 1/4" diameter. Single handle at the top. 1" diameter at the top. Weighs 6 lbs. 11 oz. Holds 1 gal, or a bit more to the very top. Overall very good condition. No major cracks that I can find. There are a few minor chip. And some crazing, but it is watertight, nothing leaked out when I filled it.

Excellent Antique ES&B Advertising Stoneware Whisky Jug Hayner Lock Box 290 Ohio
This is a fantastic antique stoneware jug. Marked ES&B on the bottom with crisp, bold cobalt advertising on the front for Hayner Lock Box 290 of Dayton, Ohio and shiny, even glaze. It holds about a gallon. The condition is excellent, there are absolutely no cracks and only one tiny flake missing from the bottom edge, shown in the photos. It has light crazing all over the glaze, giving it a charming vintage look. It measures about 6 5/8" W x 11" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

The item for sale is a hard to find small antique stoneware Western Stoneware jug in good overall condition. This piece is original. The jug has ho chips or breaks. There is a seam separation where the top section meets the base section(see pics) This does not go through and the piece does not leak even under pressure. This stoneware jug is approximately 8" high with a 6" diameter base. There are several spots on the spout& one on the handle where the glaze has worn or been chipped off. There are also several imperfections in the stoneware& spots where the glaze wasn't fully applied. The majority of that is shown in the pictures. I don't see any hairlines or major chips& when tapped with a knuckle the jug sounds solid. A google search showed an Atwater& Carter Grocers doing business in Newark. NJ in the late 1800's with a different Broad St address. Absolutely No International Shipping! Please pay within 4 days after the auction ends. TF McDonough 1 gallon stoneware advertising jug Scranton Pa
I live in a Victorian house and found this jug in the basement. It was painted red but I noticed some of the paint was chipping away and letters were peeking out underneath. I stripped the paint from it and did research on it but I couldn't find anything other than it was a store in West Scranton PA. There are still tiny remnants of the paint stuck in the deeper pores. Pictures are included. The jug doesn't have any chips. It is two-toned from the firing process. There is a superficial crack on the handles and around the neck that I think also happened in the firing process. I believe this is a one gallon jug, it's 8 1/2" tall, 5 1/2 across approx and 18" in diameter around the thickest part. If you have any questions or require more photos please feel free to ask. Offered here without reserve is this one gallon(9 1/2" tall. 5 1/2" diameter at the base) saltglaze stoneware jug that, while it has no cobalt advertising, has incised advertising for a Mr Tempi whose shop was at the corner at Shawmut and Milton streets in Boston. Here is a terrific old Red Wing Kansas City Advertising Jug. It is one gallon capacity and approximately 8 1/2" tall and 7" inches wide. It is not marked. But I am confident that it was made in Red Wing(per the glaze, shape and clay color) The stamped label is very clear and bold. The factory flaws have been described in the previous"condition section" There doesn't appear to be any after manufacture damage. The pictures provide a very good representation of this item. A couple of glaze skips. Crazing comensurate with age. One very small chip along the outside of the mouthpiece(see listing and photos please for greater detail) Script is clear and bright; shows almost no wear. 2 Glaze skips. Both about the size of the one pictured. Crazing is most notable on the bottom 1/3 of the jug as well as on the underside. One very small. Shallow chip along the outside rim of the mouthpiece(approx. 1/8" Any slight chips on the underside are under the glaze coat. 1/2" cut mark" under the glaze coat along the side brown area(see photo) I was able to find a"Charles& Co.
