This early little jewel has a deep brown albany slip glaze that shows the rings going round and round the jug from the hand turned spinning wheel. When you look closely you can see the potters fingerprint inside the handle where it was held as it was dipped into the albany slip finish. It's topped with what could be the original cork. As you can see in the picture of the handle there are two small chips inside it. That's all! Everything else is perfect! Antique Vintage Primitive 2 Tone Salt Glaze Stoneware Jug/Lamp Hand Painted
This is a wonderful old brown top salt glazed whiskey jug measuring approximately 11 inches tall and a diameter of approximately 7 inches. The jug has no cracks but does have a few chips. 4 around the ledge of the jug, 2 of which are not that noticeable because they are located almost right on the ledge and blend in very well. The other two are just below the ledge(see picture 3) This jug also has a small hole drilled at the bottom of the back side for an electric cord(see picture 3) to be used as a lamp. The front side of the jug has an hand painted apple motif. Some of the paint has rubbed off but again does not in any way take away from the beauty of this jug and in fact would be expected for the age. The handle is perfect and the jug has had no repairs. There are some manufacturers defects(see picture 4) the most apparent which looks ... morelike a dent. I think it enhances the charm of this old jug. A beautiful jug for any collector or for decorative purposes.

Antique Douglass Clay Products Co Anomaly 1 Gallon Water Jug-Rare
This is an antique Douglass Clay Product Co 1 gallon water jug. The Douglass Clay Product Co in Los Angeles. CA operated from 1903-1910 when it was bought out by another company, but they continued to make vessels after this time, but apparently under that company's name. The clay products in the LA area were so good due to the exceptionally fine clay found in Southern California. This one has a logo for Douglass that we have not seen anywhere else. The jug also has anomalies that occurred in the manufacturing of the jug, making it doubly unique. There is a small hole in side of jug that someone tried to tape over. I have not removed this tape. There is a chip on top rim, several small chips in bottom edge, few chips on bottom and some coloring is coming off the top rim. The handle has a few small chips. Is this genuine antique 19thc Stoneware Jug covered with a deep dark layer of Albany Brown Slip Glaze and fitted with a Pour Lip Spout for your liquid refreshment, did anyone say Moonshine? This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Stoneware Jug stands 10" tall and measures 7 7/8" across the base diameter formed in a slight gumdrop shape with well formed loop strap handle flowing right into a pointed pour lip spout neck fitted with an old cork that moves in and out freely at will. Slight dishing of neck to catch drips(lest you shall waste any good liquid refreshment to spillage! Scale weight is a rock solid heavy ... morefive pounds! Slight lighter brown kiss mark haze near bottom due to uneven firing in the making. Very thick chocolate brown overglaze with no flaking or fry anywhere coats the exterior with a plain bottom. Unsigned, and no capacity mark, but I would call this a goodly one gallon size. This turn of the century Mitchell Bros. Ltd. jug is quite hefty with black graphics over a cream/ off-white background with 2 applied handles in tan. There are no cracks but a chip under glaze shown in photo#9 which should be considered a pottery flaw. This item is in good"as found" condition considering the age and use with minimal if any crazing. Any flaws in paint or glaze should be considered a manufacturing flaw and not damage. this is a rare antique handmade stoneware pottery crock from mid to late 1800's it is completely made by hand out of thick. Heavy stoneware with extremely thick walls. it has and exquisite salt glaze finish. With beautifully painted cobalt stylized figural detailing. it has a dual handle and a large mouth. It is near museum quality, not one chip on the whole crock, which is EXTREMELY RARE any imperfections on the crock were done in the creation process. Like any discoloration. crocks of this age and quality hardly ever come to market. it measures 12 1/2 inches in diameter x 13 inches tall and has a wonderful patina from age. i believe it is a 5 to 6 gallon crock.very heavy piece. there are a couple very very tiny hairline cracks as shown in the last pic. This jug came from my in-laws house in upstate NY. My husband is 50 and he said it was always there. I be lieve it is stoneware with a salt glaze finish. But I a m NO expert. I can onl y describe it as best as I can. It is marked ALBANY. N.Y. in blue. There was a l so something above th at in blue that appears to have been sanded of and then something written in red that was also removed. In some areas the rubbing or sand ing has worn right through the glaze. There is a large 4 embosses at the top of the jug. 4 gallons. I would guess) It is being sold AS IS. It is approx. 17 inche s tall and 10& 1/2 inches in diameter at the base. It has some glaze imperfections including a drip of some so rt and a gouge(less than 1 inch) A small chip to the bottom edge and a chip on the spout. This F. B. Norton& Co. Worchester. Mass. jug came from an auction in Vermont. When I bid on the jug, I had no idea it had problems. The top has chips, see the 6th picture. The bottom has one chip, see the 7th picture. There is some light chipping in the design, see the 8th picture. The handle has two cracks, see the 10th and 11th picture, and there is a crack around the top, see the 5th, 6th, and last pictures. It measures 14.5 inches tall and 8.5" in diameter at the base.

Mid 19th Century Dudson Jasper ware Jug - Pewter LId
Mid 19th Century Dudson Pewter lidded Jasper Ware glazed Jug that features Three Muses in relief. The Pewter lid has a finial with a feather design at its base that curls up to the top. The lid is heart shaped. Whose edges are gently sloped into the center. This creates a raised heart shaped center area that has a raised ridge that continues to the lip edge. The upper most edge of the jug is trimmed with pewter, which guaranteed that it would not get chipped. The base of of the pale blue glazed jug has an acorn and oak leaf design that encircles the upper part of the jug. Elaborate columns separate the three muses. The handle has a rope design. The pitcher slightly tapers from the top to bottom. This was probably used as a milk pitcher. Measuring approximately 6 1/2" to the top of the finial and 5 1/2" spout to end of the handle. ... moreThe piece is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips or crazing. The bottom carries an impressed marking of"DUDSON ENGLAND and a B U C" I believe that the initials are those of the potter and decorator. The impressed mark was used 1838-1888. Dudson was located on Hope and Hanover Streets in Hanley. Stafforshire. Dudson made Jasper Ware in the Wedgwood style. Dudson Jasper Ware is glazed and does not have a matte finish, which, I have found to be very attractive. If you love antique English pottery. This is a wonderful piece from the Victorian period. This beautifully shaped helmet creamer is decorated with a large hand painted spray of pink. Purple and blue flowers on one side with a small rose branch on the other. A blue violet is painted under the spout. Inside rim is decorated with a scrolled floral pattern. The creamer sits in a flared foot and has a looped handle. P71' has been written underneath. Which probably denotes the pattern number. The creamer sits at approximately 3 3/4 inches at its highest point. The creamer is in excellent condition with no chips. This company was founded in 1877 and existed until 1906; in 1906 it merged with Minnesota Stoneware Co. also located in Red Wing, Minn. and formed Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. This jug was manufactured 1885-1906. This jug was manufactured using a two piece mold and the handle was hand applied after the jug was formed. It is glazed with a shiny brown glaze. This jug has a total height of approximately 7 3/8" the bottom has a diameter of slightly less than 6" and the capacity was advertised as 1/2 of a gallon. This jug has 0 cracks, however on the bottom edge is a chip that can be completely covered with a dime. This jug does have glaze skips. Antique ES&B Stoneware Hayner Lock Box 290 Whiskey Jug / Crock
This old Stoneware Hayner Whiskey Jug has been sitting in my father’s basement for at least the last 55+ years and was covered in dust and as you can see by the pictures it has not been cleaned. Other than the dirt the jug is in great condition with no cracks. Chips or repairs. It measures about 11 inches tall and is 6 5/8 inches in diameter at the base. The front reads HAYNER LOCKBOX 290 DAYTON OHIO and it has ES&B in raised letters on the bottom. 1920 brought in the beginning of Prohibition and the end of the Hayner Distilling Company and their Mail Order Whiskey business. This 2Gal. RI Merchant Jug is a real eye-catcher! I have always assumed that Horseshoes should face upward for Luck. And questioned why Edward Smith, a successful 19thC. Pawtucket Liquor Distributer, would use such a logo on his products. I then realized that the Horseshoe quickly orients itself in the proper manner when its contents are poured! A brilliant design, to say the least. In addition to the stenciled Cobalt Advertising, this Jug is also clearly impressed on the shoulder: F.T. WRIGHT& SON, STONE WARE, TAUNTON, MASS. with the 2Gal. capacity mark just below. I would date this to around 1870, based on the stamp. The overall condition is outstanding, considering its intended use. There is a shallow flake on the base, and two nicks on the spout; otherwise Mint. Antique Clinton. Missouri Redware Large Jug Likely Jegglin Up for auction is a large redware jug from Clinton. Henry County, Missouri. I am assuming that it was made at one of the potteries in that town. It might have even been made by my great grand uncles Johann Caspar Thoma or William Thoma. This jug bears great similarity of jugs made by Michael Jegglin of Boonville, Missouri. And both he and his son, E. A. Jegglin, operated a pottery mill in Calhoun, Missouri. This jug is 9 1/2" in diameter; 11" in height; and weighs 9 pounds. It is marked with a large E which I assume is the jug size. The bottom of this piece of stoneware is flat with no markings.
