Is this genuine antique 19thc Stoneware Jug covered with a deep dark layer of Albany Brown Slip Glaze and fitted with a Pour Lip Spout for your liquid refreshment, did anyone say Moonshine? This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Stoneware Jug stands 10" tall and measures 7 7/8" across the base diameter formed in a slight gumdrop shape with well formed loop strap handle flowing right into a pointed pour lip spout neck fitted with an old cork that moves in and out freely at will. Slight dishing of neck to catch drips(lest you shall waste any good liquid refreshment to spillage! Scale weight is a rock solid heavy ... morefive pounds! Slight lighter brown kiss mark haze near bottom due to uneven firing in the making. Here is a spectacular 1 gallon size stoneware brown jug. Four scribe lines around the top edge give crispness. The neck is precisely formed. The attachment of handle to the jug shows purpose and care. Two tendrils of glaze add character. This is a very well made piece. The jug is 12 inches tall. And 7 inches in diameter at the bottom, and slightly wider at the top. It is sturdy and structurally well made. You are bidding on a Henry J Barnett Albany NY Whiskey Jug. This is a genuine antique stoneware jug from the latter half of the 19th century. It is in remarkable condition for any age. One slight natural blemish under the word Albany. The item is nicely glazed. No chips or cracks. The handle is intact and hand attached. I'll even throw in the corn cob stopper! sr 1262013 I am not an antique dealer. This is being sold for a friend who has had this forever and has had to part with his collections due to hard times. However, there are markings underneath the pour spout that we can not decipher. There also appear to be markings on the bottom that look like initials, but age has deteriorated it. The brown part of the jug is full of flea bites, comes with the cork. The base of the handle is not perfect but it looks like it was manufactured that way. The crock has a dent in it on the right hand side of the spout, as well as a square chip from the base of the bottom. There are also flea bites and flaws from manufacturer. For auction is an unusually scarce antique stoneware half-gallon or so. Advertising jug N.C. CANNON WINES& LIQUORS 309 WASHINGTON VICKSBURG MISS. from Nathan C. Cannon, an African American who operated a saloon on Washington Street in Vicksburg, Mississippi, at the turn of the twentieth century. N. C. Cannon was African American, and his advertising jugs are rare. These Cannon jugs just are not around anymore. And chances are it will be a long time before another one shows up on ebay. Mississippi declared statewide prohibition in 1908, and this jug probably dates around 1905 or so. The stoneware jug is in fair to good condition. There are a few very small lip chips, a few super small chips or rubs ... moreof the brown, original handle. The main issue is that there is about an approximately 1 ¼” circular patch in the back below the handle(see photos) This is how it was when I bought it. I don’t know if it was an original repair after the jug was made or as some later time. It does show some hairline cracks that may just be from the glaze in that area that may be from an impact but I just don’t know. The size is 7 ¾” tall by 6” in diameter. The stencil is quite nice as you can see in the photographs. Even with the patched area this is a super rare jug and displays great. The patch is in the back and lower so you do not see it from the front at all. The jug is still very sold and not at all falling apart. This antique has probably seen a lot of use over the years and was probably used to hold moonshine at some point. it has probably seen a lot of partying in it's day. There is a cork in it which has an opening for liquid to pass through. It is dark brown on the top portion and kind of a tan/off white on the bottom portion. Base is a little over 7 inches tall and the entire jug is about 10.5 inches high. Base is approximately 7 inches in diameter. Bottom is slightly concave and has strips of old fabric affixed. This jug has what I assume is a British red-coat Soldier and an American Revolutionary Drum playing Soldier on the front although both are faded. The jug was also painted with a black paint. Antique Whiskey / Moonshine JUG /Stoneware - Pottery- Crock/ Rustic - Primative
This is a very old stoneware/ pottery type jug. Likely used to hold whiskey, maybe moonshine! or water. It is 11 inches tall by 4 inches wide- I believe it is a 1 gallon capacity. The jug is a nice off white color and is all the same color which is somewhat uncommon. The neck and opening are nice and smooth. The cork is long gone sadly. There are a few chips on the bottom(not noticeable unless you flip it over) and a few rough spots and nicks along the extended lip of the body, but nothing deterring to the aesthetics of the jug. The bottom of the jug is not smooth like the rest of the jug, there are some slight ripples in the glaze and uneven coloration. The camera's flash bounced off of the surface and it may appear as though there is a crack in the bottom, however there are NO cracks in this jug. This is a really primitive piece and ... morewill look great in your rustic decor. Since it is all one color- and not two toned like so many jugs, it will be a great piece to add to a collection. Vintage 1930's/1940's or earlier large jug crock with cork. It measures 12" tall with a 6 1/2" outside diameter at base. The capacity looks like 1- 1 1/2 gallons. It is a heavy thick wall salt glaze glazed stoneware stone ware pottery jug with a cup style side handle near the top. The crock is in very good condition. It is glazed brown on the top half and tan on the bottom half. The exterior bottom is glazed in the center area and unglazed around the rim showing the stoneware. There is a remnants of a loose cork left. The crock displays beautifully and shows normal use wear as pictured. This is a very well made heavy. Thick walled jug. It is sold as is. $16.00 postage.

This is a Great Looking Old Jug but I Can't Say That It Actually"Holds" a Gallon of Water(or Hootch) It is very nice to look at. But it does have a crack which causes it(and me) to weep. Hello. You are viewing my sale for a Vintage Pottery Whiskey Jug With a Painted Nautical Scene. This is a great looking Stoneware pottery jug. This jug is EMPTY. This is a two Tone Color Jug. The top section is brown and the bottom section is off white. The jug is painted by"Jan" which is named on the bottom left section of the painting. The painting is of a beautiful shore scene with a lighthouse. The details of the painting are amazing. The entire jug measures 12" tall by 6 and 1/2" across at the bottom. The jug is in good condition with no cracks or repairs present. There is some minor wear present and some chips on the bottom. The top section next to the handle has an abrasion wear.
