Up for your consideration are 8 butter pats that are marked Porzellan Imperial Germany. I use butter pats as a pretty place for a used tea-bag. All four are trimmed in gold along the edge. Each measures 3 1/4" round and are numbered. Photo 2- the multi-floral are#78 Photo 3. Grey and pink flowers with pointy edges are#30 Photo 4, fancy parrot tulips are marked#37- One of them is double stamped on the back. Antique "M.Z.Austria" Floral w/ heavy Gold * Butter Pats/Plates * 8 * Signed
I found these plates at a local estate auction here in Oklahoma. They are so pretty. With the pink prim roses and the gold. They are in great condition except one plate has a chip on the underside rim. Another plate has the sign of a crack on the under rim, but I cannot feel it or see it on the top. They are all signed"M.Z. Austria" also with the number'66' in blue on the back. Six have been stamped with the number'1000' They are 5" across. Please look at all photos for accuracy. There is a thin blue stripe at the rim. 2 5/8" across. It is unmarked as far as I can tell. The only thin I see that may be a mark is what looks like a 6 or cursive G on the bottom but it is so slight it could just be a mark in the glaze. There is a gritty substance like fine sand under the glaze. No chips or cracks. A bit of light crazing. Buyer pays shipping. I am selling some of my duplicate butter pats and will be listing several over the next few weeks. This butter pat is gray white with a red. Green and blue oriental design. It is scalloped from the flat center to the rim edge. It may have been handmade or early mass produced as is not completely symmetrical. There are no utensil marks. But the pattern is quite worn and there are three small chips on the edge. The bottom is unmarked and free of damage. VINTAGE CHINA BUTTER PAT GREEN BORDER PINK ROSE UNMARKED
Offered today is an extra butter pat from my own collection. It is white with a single pink rose off center. There is a raised design around the outer edge overlaid with a green stripe. The edge is rimmed with gold. Though it is not very noticeable in the photos. The front shows some light utensil marks and a bit of crazing. The green stripe shows some breaks. But remarkably the gold rim has little wear. The pink rose. Leaves and stem show some wear as well. The bottom is unmarked and shows quite a bit of crazing. The base is rough. Though this is from the manufacturer, and I notice one tiny flea bite on the underside of the rim. It measures about 3 inches across. I only charge ACTUAL shipping with no handling or packing fees. 5 Antique Old Butter Pat Dishes Plates White Double Blue Ring Blue Bird Lot #1
Unknown Maker The closest bird I could find out of the hundreds I looked at over the internet was Knowles. Taylor, Knowles. It is not the same but pretty close match. So should blend in with one of their blue bird sets or several other makers sets. They would make nice display peices also. The dish itself has 12 edges and is not round but has 2 round blue painted rings. There were several dish shapes that were similar but I could not narrow this dish down to one of them. I am not sure of the age but I belive these to be old. Blue birds were very popular between the 1880's and late 1920's. I have no idea if these date from then. But the previous owner said she had had them from at least the 70's when she was in the height of her collecting/hoarding. Here is a set of 4 very old hand painted porcelain butter pats. There is only one impressed mark on one of the dishes. And that mark is an“A. The only antecedent we find for that letter is Bow Porcelain from about 1750 in England. You may someday find out who made them, but we think they were actually made c. 1880 or slightly earlier. The gold trim on the edges is more likely from that era. Each dish has a flower of a different color. But painted in the same manner. The colors are pink, purple, lavender and coral. There is some wear, but there are no chips or cracks. We found a glazed over nick on one from when it was made. We found various tiny imbedded cinders and faint discolorations, but we found no damage. Each pat is hexagonal and measures 2 7/8 inches flat to flat.
