Antique Ransbottom Brothers 1 Gallon Moonshine Jug
This antique moonshine jug has the characteristic crown stamp known for Ransbottom Brothers pottery. The upper portion. Which is cone shaped, has a handle and is glazed very glossy brown. The glaze goes into the interior of the jug. The glaze is scuffed on the handle. It has a small dent about 0.5 cm in diameter. The cylinder is cream-colored and semi-glossy glazed. It has some discoloration and scuffs. The glaze is worn slightly in a few spots. The jug has no cracks in the side or base. Specifications: Height: 11.5” Diameter: 6 ¾” Weight: 6 lbs The jug will be packaged safely and securely for shipment.

The jug has a brown top and then a band of tan coloring and then cream color on the bottom section. It has an applied handle and is estimated to be half gallon size. The crock whiskey jug measures about 10 1/4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It is pretty good condition but does have a couple of surface chips in the dark brown area toward the tan colored band. There's also crazing on the bottom and sides of the jug mainly noted in the light colored areas. The jug also has some pin holes that are normally seen on these jugs. Offered is this small vintage or antique beige and dark brown moonshine whiskey jug. The jug stands approx. 9 1/4" high. Is 5 1/2" across at the base and holds about 1/2 gallon. It is in very good condition. There is a small rough area on the top of the handle which is partially glazed over so apparently done while being made. KENTUCKY FARM FIND 1/2 GALLON SIZE BOURBON WHISKEY MOONSHINE HAND TURNED GREAT FORM AND FINISH. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE STONEWARE JUG offered as acquired from estate. I discovered this piece a few years back in a barn in Henry County. Kentucky, and am offering it just as found- magnificent old piece with great form. Has subtly defined ribs from turning. Applied handle, and I really like the shape on this one; shoulders do not flare in a pronounced way, so you ... moreget more of a minie ball shape than a beehive. If it was good enough for a moonshiner, it's good enough for me! Jug holds 8 cups(1/2 gallon) of fluid comfortably to shoulders. Or 9 if the guy filling it up really likes you. Stands almost 10 inches tall and is about 5 1/4 inches diameter at base. Condition is difficult to describe with these pieces, as you expect some normal imperfections in the original glaze, and there may be a few original slips in the paint or pinpoint wear, but there are no notable chips, cracks, dings or repairs of any kind. One area around side/base join looks a bit jinxy, but this is obviously the original craftsmanship and not damage. There is one bit of a nick in the handle, but it is under the original paint and glaze. So it's original. Here's a vintage dug up 1 gallon moonshine jug. And as you cane the handle broke off probably when it was first thrown away. What leads me to that conclusion is the broken ends have both obtained rust deposits on them. That could only occur from an extended time underground. It is gray and kind of shiny. And I lightly cleaned it to see if anything was written on it. There isn't. Not on the bottom either. So just for the heck of it I'm listing it at a more than fair price of $3. For all the folks out there who might want a curiosity article. It can hold dried flowers. Or a door open. Just as a conversation piece.

This is the type I usually find. Not always so solid not always handled this one is both. Classic brown over tan with two fingered handle. Without writing or embellishments of any kind. Just the good old shine crock/jug. Probably around eighty to one hundred years old. Sturdy and versatile. Dug one up 6 months ago has linseed oil maybe in it. Couldn't bring it home because the stench of the oil. Still sits out in the woods where my pit is. And still sometimes when I walk by it the fumes are overwhelming. Great looking old tyme stoneware whiskey style 1 gallon jug with a single handle. It measures approx. 11" tall and 7" across the bottom. There are many flaws in the finish that have been there since the jug was produced. Even the chip on the bottom rim has a glaze on it so probably original. Study pictures for condition. Two dug up vintage 1/2 gallon moonshine crock jugs
These are two crock jugs from right around the turn of the 20th century. One is all white the other is brown over white. These were dug up and not bought at a yard sale. So they at one time were filled with some kind of distilled liquid I would think. They have no identifying marks or stencils on them so they either had paper labels which I doubt. Or they were known to hold a certain substance and you knew what it was when you bought it.If you know what I mean. They have long since been missing their cor so what ever type of fragrant liquid was in them they have lost the scent of it. Although for all I know they could have just as easily bee used for musical instruments. The all white one is just a little lower in note. I told that so all you jug players knew what tone they have. Vintage 1 GALLON Handle JUG Brown Glaze Pottery Moonshine Crock Beehive
My parents bought this jug at a rural farm estate sale decades ago. I measured myself and it held approx. one gallon plus two cups of water. No leaks. It stands approx. 9.5" tall, with a 7.5" diameter at the base. I believe the shape is known as"beehive" but I'm not sure.I am NOT an expert on this sort of item! I have examined it carefully and can find no damage other than that associated with many years of normal use. As you can see in the pictures, the bottom surface is quite rubbed, and the underside of the handle is missing the glazed surface. But I see NO cracks and actual chips; there are places where the surface is uneven but I think that was part of the hand made process. There are also small surface bubbles. No maker marks that I can see. I will package carefully with lots of wrapping and foam noodles. Shipping ... morewill be via USPS with tracking and insurance. After listing. I saw the cost of Priority shipping outside my postal zone and it is very expensive! I am now adding a standard shipping option, which will also include tracking and insurance.

Antique Stoneware Crock Whiskey Moonshine Ceramic Jug 1 Gallon with Cork
Large Antique Stoneware Crock Whiskey Moonshine Jug. This is a nice antique or vintage stoneware moonshine jug. It has a brown top and off-white body. The diameter of the base is 7 1/4 inches and it stands 10 1/2 inches high. I assume that it is 1 gallon size. The cork is starting to deteriorate but it still fits in the hole so I am including it. There are no chips. Cracks or any signs of repairs, There is some light crazing and other usual glaze pops and imperfections that all antique stoneware exhibits. There aren't any words or manufacturer marks on it. I got this from the estate of a relative. I am just guessing on the age being in the 1900- 1940 range based on the other items in his collection.
