This listing is for: a salt glaze jug manufactured by the Macomb Pottery Company of Macomb. Ill. They were in business from 1882-1941 so this is a very old piece. This jug is in fair condition. It's quite worn and shows it's age. There are many scrat ches. Chips and some areas where the glaze has come off and is missing(created small holes in the top glaze) The bottom has quite a lot of scratches and chipping. The name is very difficult to read but visible in the right li ghting. There is a crack going up the side of the ju g but doesn't affect it's structure. This piece measures 8.5 inches tall and 7 inches in diam eter at the base. This is a very unusual and attractive piece of stoneware. The only one on Ebay of it's kind. comes from a smoke Free Home. ANTIQUE STONEWARE SMALL JUG MARKED MACOMB POTTERY CO. AT LEAST 100 YEARS OLD
We have for your viewing and bidding pleasure a collectible small antique stoneware jug. It is in a rather unusual and uncommon size. We believe it to be pint sized. It is in the old style and shape called the beehive design. On the bottom it is incised or marked with the name MACOMB POTTERY CO. The jug is in good condition with no breaks or chips. At the very bottom of the handle there is a small lined stress thin age crack. From the bottom of the base to where the cork starts it is about 5 ¼” high. Across the base it is 3” and it is 3 ½” across the widest bulged out area. We are listing the above described at least 100 year old antique jug at a no reserve selling price. Bottom Marked 1 Gal. Stoneware Cone Top Jug by Buckeye Pottery Macomb, Illinois
For your consideration is a one gallon cone top shoulder jug. Made of stoneware. Debossed into the bottom it says: THE BUCKEYE POTTERY CO MACOMB ILL The writing is glazed over, but I could see 0 punctuation. This company existed 1882-1941. I assume this jug was one of the first pieces this company manufactured that had white glaze, because the turkey eye dripping leads me to believe it was fired right after salt glazed items were fired. The height is almost 10 1/2" and the bottom is approximately 7" in diameter. There are 0 cracks, however there is a very minor(probably insignificant) chip.

Old Brown Stoneware Handled Jug Made by Macomb Pottery Co. 1894-1905
Available for purchase. We have an old Antique Brown Glaze single handle jug. This is a one gallon jug. The jug is signed Macomb Pottery Co. Macomb. Ill. There is a chip in the bottom edge but it is not deep. The jug holds liquid with no leaks. There is no stopper but the previous owner improvised using an old corn cob. It actually fits snug. The jug measures 9" tall and 7-1/2" in diameter. There are some imperfections in the glaze and some wear to the handle. The Macomb Pottery Co. in Macomb, Illinois, was in business from 1894 to 1905. Vtg/Antique 11" White Glazed Stoneware Jug-Buckeye Pottery-Macomb, IL-1882-1939
Offered is this vintage or antique glazed stoneware jug. Made by the Buckeye Pottery Company of Macomb, Illinois and marked on the bottom with their buckeye tree logo. Internet research finds that this company was in business from 1882-1939, when they were bought by another pottery company. I describe the color as"white" but of course as with most jugs it is not pure snow-white. But more of an ivory or very pale beige. It stands about 11" high and is just over 7" across on the bottom. I did not measure the jug's capacity but assume it is one gallon? The jug has a cork. Stamped with the words"Hardware& General Store" The jug is in very good condition. There are some small chips around the top rim and a couple of short. Thin surface cracks near the bottom(see last photo) Just about the entire jug shows ... moresurface crazing. As you might expect. This is a heavy item so shipping will be rather expensive. I am calculating the shipping using USPS but will send FedEx Ground if that is cheaper.
