More cracks near the base and 4 1/8" across the side of the base. Has some chips out of the flat side below the shoulder. Large old flake at the edge of the base. Some production defects. You are bidding on a vtg/antique Glen Garry Old Highland Whiskey stoneware jug produced by Port Dundas Pottery(Glasgow. Scotland) somewheres between 1878 and when the factory closed in 1930. From the makers mark we are fairly certain this piece dates to about 1901-1919. Around 1920-1930 Port Dundas Pottery begain marking their stoneware with just the words"Made in Scotland" pic 12) Although Port Dundas was in business since 1828, it wasn't until 1878 when they were the first to introduce transfer printing, onto stoneware and advertised they could stamp bottles in color(In this case black) This would have been with a hand held rubber stamp, taken from an etched copper plate. This stoneware jug is in exceptional condition for its age. No chips. Cracks, or repairs. The original cork is missing. The black transfer graphics are still ... morevery clear and crisp. Nice old one gallon whiskey shoulder jug from Western Stoneware Co. in Monmouth. IL. It has been used and shows some wear mainly around the bottom. There is a surface crack around the bottom(pic. 4) but the jug doesn't leak. The bottom edge has a couple of chips, see pics. 5-6. There are a couple of spots where the brown shiny glaze wasn't applied uniformly at the factory. I do not have a cork for this jug. Shipping allows for double boxing. Early, 5 Gal Stoneware Jug, marked with the logo of the US Standard Pottery Company, East Liverpool Ohio This lovely jug comes from an Estate Auction in Southern Florida. It took me quite a while to identify this jug. Many jugs are described as being rare. This one is. It was made by the US Standard Pottery Company in East Liverpool. Ohio. The company is listed as manufacturing ceramics from 1886-1927. There were earlier pottery manufacturers in this area with the name of Standard. But information is scarce. The eagle logo is correct for US Standard. During the years that US Standard was producing a wide range of products. The East Liverpool, Ohio area was know as"The Pottery Capital of the World" The area had high quality clay and a ... morecommunity of skilled ceramic artisans. I would suggest that the current very good condition of this 5 gallon jug testifies to the high quality of manufacturing. The jug is 19.75" tall and 11.5" in diameter. The height from the base to the shoulder is 13' From the photos you can see the expected imperfections from its original firing. Age discoloration on the shoulder and a few areas where small chips of glaze have been lost. There are no cracks or other issues that I am aware of. It's a lovely pieice of stoneware. The light colored glaze is amazingly beautiful for its age. The shape is delightful and overall, its just a charming piece of antiquity. And, it's at a good price.

Antique 1800's I.W. HARPER Kentucky Whisky stoneware JUG * liquor bottle
We are pleased to offer a I.W. Harper Whiskey stoneware jug from Nelson County. Kentucky. The jug once contained whiskey from the Bernheim Distilling Co. of Louisville, KY. It features brown lettering on Cream Color and there is crazing throughout. It touts the fact that the whiskey was awarded by the World's Industrial and Cotton Centennial Exp/1884-1885/New Orleans. I have read that the"I W" initials were borrowed from Isaac's own name. We are pleased to offer this very nice 7 ½ inch tall Art Nouveau stoneware scotch jug. The Coronation Brand lists itself as an Ohio Blend and is in very good condition. This jug may have been produced by the Sherwood Brothers of New Brighton. Pennsylvania. From what I have discovered, this was the only U.S. Pottery of its time that had the ability to do wrap around transfers of the good design and sophistication represented by this Art Nouveau container. Marking to base as shown in photos reads" Bovancroft C9 4 Glasgow" No chips. Cracks or crazing which is remarkable considering its 100+ years age. Delightful front label reads'Grannie Taylor's Liqueur Whisky' Taylor Brothers Co. Glasgow and London' and' Produce of Scotland Contents 26 1/2 English Fluid Ounces. But am most enchanted with the iconic lyrics from a classic Scottish drinking song along the upper rim directly above'Granny Taylor's' Take a wee deoch an doris afore ye gong awa" These lyrics by Sir Henry Lauder are known by Scots the world over. Deoch an doris' is Gaelic for a drink ... moreat the door. Referring usually to a'last' drink. Stoneware jug measures 9" 23 cm. in height. Has a pewter and cork stopper. I do not know if this is original as I've never seen another of these bottles to actually have a stopper. Making this jug more'complete' than most. Paired with a very old pewter drinking mug with curved handle. Glass base and embossed design on sides. It has been repaired along the upper rim but is still fully functioning. Antique 5 Gallon Brown Glazed Top Tennessee Stoneware Pottery Whisky Beehive Jug
This is a fantastic antique two-toned brown and natural glazed stoneware whisky jug from Tennessee that is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It is beautiful all over with the rich. Even, shiny, brown glaze on the top and the even natural toned glaze on the bottom that is covered with natural crazing from age(shown in the last photo) giving it a charming vintage look. There is some light scuffing and scratching on the surface, but no other obvious damage. I haven't tried to fill it, but it is the same size as other 5 gallon jugs I have and it is definitely larger than a 3 gallon, so I believe it holds 5 gallons. It measures 11" W x 18" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

My grandmother passed in the late 70's and my mother kept it. It then went to my brother and he's had it till now. He's 63 years old so this little rascal is an oldie! It's always been in the house and shows little signs of wear or use. It's a very nice piece.

It has the common Albany slip glaze that is hand applied to the top above the shoulder and the classic bristol glaze below the shoulder. This jug was probably slip cast in a mold circa 1890-1920 and holds about 2 gallons. These type jugs were sold primarily to be used as water or vinegar jugs. It is not signed. The jug is in very good antique condition with some minor chips on the high sharp edges(see photos) No cracks. It is very heavy weighing about 12 pounds. The jug will hold fluid and does not leak. Antique 2 Gallon Two-Tone Brown Top Stoneware Whisky Moonshine Shoulder Jug
This is a nice. Very old 2 gallon brown top stoneware whisky jug. It has some wear to the glaze from age and use(glaze flakes along the rim, two flea bites, scuffs and scratches, a few stains) but it has a fantastic vintage look and there are no cracks or other chips. It measures 12 1/2" H x 9" W and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Antique Stoneware 1 Gallon Glazed Whisky Moonshine Shoulder Jug 11" Tall
Very interesting heavy thick walled glazed stoneware jug with applied handle. AKA whisky moonshine shoulder jug. It measures 11" tall and 7" wide at base. It has age discoloration. Crazing and makers imperfections on it but it is solid with no cracks or chunks missing. Really nice patina. I have owned it for 10 years and wood cork and cotton rag was in when I got it. This is a nice vintage brown glazed stoneware jug with wide mouth(3 3/8" across the top. Opening is 2 5/8" The glaze is fantastic; smooth, shiny, and even with large areas of yellow/green discoloration that happened during firing in the kiln.
