Little Speckled Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug w/ Cobalt Blue Flower - Heavy!
Little Speckled Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug w/ Cobalt Blue Flowers on both sides What a Wonderful addition to your collection! This is an Pennsylvania Estate Find. A Cobalt Decorated Stoneware Jug or Bottle. Now let me say, I am not a collector of Stoneware. I did however try to research this jug. I must have looked at Thousands of pieces of Stoneware, putting in every keyword I could think of for this type of slip or glaze, and could find nothing like it. I will welcome any idea's from a collector! I do not know it's exact age. It may be vintage, Antique, but it is not marked, like most modern pieces. It is quite beautiful. With it's speckled or mottled Brown with a slight Red Rust shading glaze or slip. I don't think it's Spongeware. And with the lighter clay base is seen dotted in background, those surface dots ... moreare indented. Giving it a slightly rough surface. The brown glaze is glossy. But the Cobalt Blue floral decoration, shading slightly to a lighter Sky Blue on edges, is very high gloss. Heavy. Weighs ~2.5 pounds! Jug measures about 5-1/4" H. 6" diameter including handle May be a really rare piece! Don't miss adding it to your collection!

ANTIQUE 19TH C SALT GLAZED STONEWARE JUG OTTMAN BRO'S & CO FT EDWARD NY BLUE DEC
HUG A JUG TODAY! HERE'S a fine authentic genuine 19th c salt glazed Stoneware Jug to CHEER about. Near as fine collector condition as one likes to find them straight last week fresh plucked out of a one-man thirty year private collection culled locally in his lifetime, for you to reharvest and give new life to once again this brand new Spring 2013 debut listing from Colony Farm Antiques, the hard goods division of Lady Ellens' Fine Ware here on EBay, where we serve reenactors and select collector interests with supreme offerings. The Jug is stamped with OTTMAN BRO'S& CO over FORT EDWARD. NY over a compact tight cluster hand slipped blue scroll coil spray dotted leafy floral cluster typical of slip cup decoration(slip is liquid clay) The decorations sits well mid front to the jug and shows nicely in overall balanced scheme ... moreto the viewer, this one had some thought exercised during manufacture as so many other finds are simply routine, unimaginative, and in some cases, downright hurried and sloppy! The platform neck is well formed and strong, and loop strap rear single handle is tight, easy grip, highly looped, and attached firmly no issues. This is a clean nice stoneware example for anyone's proud display collection. Unmarked to capacity, I would say it is best equivalent to just about 1 1/2 gallon size. Condition Report: One very tiny stone ping above coil spray. Triangular shaped stone ping on right side upper shoulder from which emanates a line of vertical glaze drip. Overall pleasing light grey coloration with a small Texas-state shaped beige blotch to left side midway. This is smooth. Just a kiln color aberration in the manufacture. No kiss marks. Clean sound bottom with tiny felt pad dots to prevent scratching. No fry to cobalt, No hairlines. No repairs. Just HONEST old piece that has sat last 30+ years in a collection in the area in which is was made. Offered here new debut at antique show field trader price-where the buyers descend upon my booth like locusts hungry to purchase Fine Wares

Antique Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Whiskey Jug
This is listing is for an Antique Brown Salt Glazed Hand Thrown? Pottery Whiskey Jug. I do not know when this jug was made or where it came from. The sticker on the front of it says" Made in Tennessee By Moonshiners" Again I have no idea if that is original to the jug or not. Jug appears to be in good shape with only one major flaw being on the side opposite of the handle what appears to be where a light gouge or something that once on there has been broken off. The jug is approx 8" high and has a corn cob stopper. The photos in this listing is the actual jug you are bidding on. This item will ship with Insurance! Items are from a smoke free home and have been described to the best of my knowledge of them. All items are sold As-Is so be sure to ask any and all questions before bidding. I will only ship within the U.S. and price ... morequoted for shipping is shipping and handling unless otherwise specified. Item will be shipped with the utmost care. PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE~1-GAL. SALT-GLAZED STONEWARE MOONSHINE JUG w/Applied Handle
This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. Amtique Cone Topped Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug with Cork
Purchased years ago in the Berkshire Mountains. This is a large Cone Topped Stoneware Jug. It has a dark brown Albany Slip Glaze. Separated in a line where the cone meets the jug and then glazed over. The cork is still tightly intact. There are no marks and it is obviously a crudely finished piece that has seen it's use on the farm. All marks in the slip glaze are prior to the firing of this jug. The handle is sturdy. Thick and looks to be hand formed. This is clearly a turn of the century piece of stoneware. It measures approx 11 1/2" tall and approx. 7 1/8" at the base and a circumference of 23 7/8" Please check out all of the items in our Auctions and in our Myretromoms Ebay Store. 8 3/4" BLACK SALT GLAZED STONEWARE MOONSHINE/SHOULDER JUG - IT SPARKLES!
Scarce old black jug made by using black iron oxide. The photos. Taken outdoors, don't really show that this is a true black. This stands just under 9" tall and is approx. 6" across at it's widest point. This has a great sparkle from the salt glaze. It just wouldn't photograph. No chips or cracks. The spots in the photos are firing flaws. There is two scrapes. About 1" and 2" long on one side, that occurred before firing. There are glaze drips towards the bottom. All that being said, this is in great shape, with typical firing issues. Please email any questions.

Ballard Stoneware Jug. This is a 2-gallon salt glazed jug that measures about 14" inches tall and 8 1/4" inches across the base. Based on our research. These two Ballard brothers were making stoneware in Burlington, Vermont between 1859 and 1867. The jug is in good overall condition with a few small chips ... morearound the rim and the bottom edge. Following this experience the two brothers moved to Portland, Maine, where in 1855 they established a pottery at 100 Green Street. The 1856 Portland directory lists them at that address and describes the as“Manufacturers and Wholesaler Dealers of Stone Ware of every description, which they offer to the trade on the most reasonable terms. Orrin and Alfred moved back to Burlington and made pottery together from 1859 to 1867. Their mark was O.L. A.K. BALLARD/BURLINGTON, VT. Biddi

EARLY ANTIQUE CIRCA 17TH/18TH CENTURY SALT GLAZED STONEWARE ONE-HANDLED JUG
This early antique salt-glazed stoneware one-handled jug is circa 17th/18th century. Salt glaze pottery is stoneware with a glaze of glossy. Translucent, and slightly orange-peel texture, which was formed by throwing common salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. This primitive jug has a beautiful early pear-shaped form. And a nice mottled natural/yellowish color. The jug measures ~8 3/8" tall x 2" diameter at the base. Considering its age. The jug is in good condition overall. There are a couple of small chips at the neck, and a hairline crack, but no major repairs or restoration that I can see. The blemish in the front of the jug was possibly formed during the firing process, from maybe touching another jug. The form. Color, and surface are great. This jug shows good honest wear from years ... moreof use, and has nice character. Thanks for looking, and any shipping cost overcharge will be promptly refunded.

Vintage Antique Salt Glazed Stoneware (Whiskey) Jug with applied handle
Up for auction is a salt glazed jug with an applied handle. The maker's mark on the side is illegible. All I(and a local expert) can see is an M followed by several markings. Then what looks like the word-Mill. Worn. Used, vintage, and possibly antique. The bottom has some chips. The jug is a bit on the dirty side too. I have a photograph of every side of the jug. Please take the time to look at each one. The photos are the best"description" I can offer. 3 pounds. 4 ounces. Approximately 9" tall. I pack and ship with care. Thanks for shopping my site.

Own a piece of Americana! Available for your bidding is this Primitive Hand-Made Salt-Glazed Beige Stoneware Gallon Moonshine Jug made between 1900-1940. Oh. The stories this jug could tell!
