Antique Pottery Stoneware Crock Jug Herb Beer with Nice Handle
Description: T his is an old Beer Crock with a handle found in an old barn here in New Hampshire. There are no markings to identify it but the pronounced lip means that it held contents under pressure and the cork could be tied down to resist the pressure. The bottle is about 8 ½” tall and 4” wide. There are a few nibbles here and there but it remains in pretty good shape with nice color as you can tell from my pictures. ANTIQUE STONEWARE CROCK JUG W/ LOOP HANDLE & CORK
Beautiful stoneware jug with original cork. The bottom is a rich dark brown with a creamy top. I love the shape of the handle with it's swirl effect. There are no makers marks that I can see so I have no idea who the craftsman was. It does show pride of craftsmanship. It measures 8 inches tall and 4 inches wide at the widest point. Up for bid is a STONEWARE BATTER JUG with BRISTOL GLAZE- Nice Piece! Batter Jug is in very nice condition for age. No cracks that I can find. One chip on rim. Pic 9) Inside of jug appears to have some crazing or small spider crack lines(pic) however. Inside of jug feels smooth to the touch and no cracks are evident to the bottom of jug. Nice decoration to the ears of jug. Bail handle is in nice condition. Jug stands about 9 3/4" tall and bottom diameter is approximately 6 1/2" Jug may have been made in two pieces. Bottom half was turned and the top half may have been molded, then placed together and glazed.

Antique Stoneware Salt Glazed Miniature American Pottery Jug Applied Handle
Up for auction is an antique stoneware saltglazed jug recently found at auction in northern Indiana. It is found in good used condition. It has a small applied handle in the back large enough for one finger. It measures approx. 6 1/2" with a base diameter of approx. 4 1/2" in size. The opening is approx 1" The only condition issue to report is a small hairline crack in the back which does not go through to the interior. See photo 7. There are also some stain marks which should clean up without much effort. It is not signed and appears more southern than northern American pottery. A nice addition to one's collection. Antique Primitive Beehive Stoneware Crock Jug with Bail Handle / Moonshine Jug
This is an antique primitive beehive crock jug that belonged to my Mom. It appears to be very old but does not have any markings on the bottom. The handle is bent. But appears to be the original handle. There are a few spots where the glaze did not stick to the crock when it was glazed. There is a dark spot near the top of the jug. There are also a few chips around the top and bottom edges. The jug is about 10 1/2" tall and 25" around at the widest point. PayPal only please. There are a few scuff marks on the bottom, the cork has a chip out of it, and on the brown stoneware there is tape residue and on the tape it apparently said 100. 8 1/4 inch tall. Old heavy embossed stoneware pitcher or jug, has pewter lid with thumb latch, man figural handle, heavily embossed with grapes and leaves and bacchus with other designs, marked Ridgeway& Co with their anchor and urn seal on base, no chips or major damage. But where the thinnest part of the top of the handle attaches to the pitcher their is a very old thin dirt filled hairline crack, probably has been there 100 yerars. This is a heavy classic stoneware wine jug it is believed to be from around the 1920's since it was my girlfriends grandmothers she got when she was in her early 20's and she currently is 93. It weighs a lone 6.83 pounds and has a glazed finished as you can see. There are marks as I have shown and that helps with the description. The age marks has not effected the integrity of this item at all. I just want this item to go to a good home and with someone who might have more information on this and can appreciate it. Beautiful Antique Stoneware Batter Jug with Handle
This piece is lovely old jug that was used in the old country kitchen. It measures about 8" tall. The diameter at the top is about 3 1/2" I lobe the swirling incised decorations on the crock and the leave shaped handle holders. It has a nice brown glaze. The crock is in really good shape. It has a small chip on the top rim. One area on the bottom of the spout where the glaze is worn off, several small spots around the jug where the glaze has chipped off and the stoneware is visible and 3 larger chips on the bottom of the handle on the bottom of the jug(see photo) Please let me know if you have any questions. This is a wonderful piece of Pennsylvania Dutch Art History. This is a whiskey Stoneware Jug with a wooden handle and 2 ceramic holes for the bale. What makes it so special is that it has then hand painted by Paul"Papa" Horning circa 1964-1972. Paul Horning was native PA Dutch. Born in Nov 17, 1884 into a Mennonite family in Berks County. He rejected much of the faith and conservative style. Forced to leave school at the age of 10, he was self educated and actually taught school at the age of 25 for a few years. He was skilled in pen& ink, as well as cartooning and was sought after by the local newspaper for illustrations. Instead he went into banking, insurance, and sales. He did not return to his love of painting until he retired to Florida with his wife. Once she passed. He returned to PA to be near his children. This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. Antique 8 1/2" Stoneware "Coffee Boiler" Jug-Wire & Wood Handle-Beige Glazed
Offered is this vintage or antique beige glazed stoneware"coffee boiler" jug with spout and wire and wood handle. There is a three-leaf design on each side where the wire handle is connected to the jug and a small semi-circular handle in the stoneware near the base to help hold the jug when pouring. I don't know if there was a lid originally. The piece sits about 8 1/2" high with the handle down. About 11" high with the handle up. The top opening is approx. 4" in diameter and the piece is approx. 5 3/4" across on the bottom. It is in good condition. But there are numerous chips, the biggest of which is the one on the top of one of the leaf designs where the wire handle attaches(see photos#2& 3) There is also a thin surface crack on one side of the spout where it attaches to the body of the jug(see photo#3) ... moreI think this is a fairly uncommon piece(at least I have never seen one like it) and despite its flaws should be a desirable item for the jug and crock collector. Here is a Vintage Stoneware Whiskey/ Water Jug with a Handle and Cork. It belonged to my in-laws and has been in storage for a long time. If the whole jug is filled it is 2 1/2 Gallons(it has a small corn cob in it that had been used where the cork is) It measures 14 1/2" Tall. 9 3/4" in Width. It weighs almost 10 lbs. empty. I don't know if this is what is considered saltware as there are no markings that I can find. It is in good condition. Vintage Stoneware Jug Marked'E Norton& Co Bennington VT' with the number'2' It stands 14" tall and 8.5" wide. It is a greyish/beige color with with a blue floral/leaf design on the front. It has a single handle. The jug shows wear from its age and its use. There are no apparent cracks on the crock. There is wear on the bottom and bottom edge of the jug with rough edges as you run your hand along the edge. Some discoloration marks and the ceramic is raised at those appears. Very nice. No chips or cracks. No potters mark either. It does have one scuff line on it's side. photo 4) I don't know if this is an original flaw or not. Quality made stoneware with salt glaze. Cobalt blue design(grapes? on front. Handcrafted. Lipped rim for pouring. Cork stopper and the handle comes up from the rim before the cone. Jug stands 6" tall x 5" wide. Bottom is a 3" diameter. Top opening is 2 1/4" across with 1/2" lip. Holds 3 cups. Could be used for syrup. Cream, salad dressing.etc.

Antique metal Water cooler jug stoneware lined wood handle. And stands about 10" tall. Width is about 9" This mid century water cooler has a thick stoneware lining that is in perfect condition. The outside is metal and there is some surface rust. The handle is wood. There was a label on it at one point but I don't know what brand this was. This is an antique Calvados stoneware pottery jug for apple brandy from France. It features a stopper of a hand-sculpted man's head in a jaunty cap which fits snugly over a cork. The bottle has beautiful hand-applied details including apples and leaves. And a lovely patina. It measures about 9.25" tall including the stopper, the bottle itself is 7.25" tall. Vintage Brown Beehive 9.5" Stoneware Jug with Intact Handle & Cork
This is a vintage(or antique. Age unknown) beehive stoneware jug with an Albany Slip style glaze. The handle of the jug is still intact and it appears to have the original cork(see top view photo) or at least one with notable age to it. There are several larger chips on the lower portion of the jug(see side view photos) and other smaller chips as well. The jug measures 8" tall to the bottom of the handle and 8" across the bottom of the jug. It stands 9.5" to the top of the cork. We believe this to be a 1 gallon jug based on the dimensions. There are a couple of incised marks on the bottom but they do not appear to be lettering of any kind so the maker is unknown. My knowledge of this item is limited and I have described this piece to the best of my ability. This one gallon heavy stonewar e jug in traditional beehive shape with a sidearm handle just has so much character. It's glazed with a medium gloss chocolate brown finish. No maker's mark or national origin anywhere on it. We found this jug at an estate sale in Southwestern Mi chigan. And it's a real charmer. The opening would hold a one inch cork, but there's none in it at present. You can see the the thumbmarks of the maker where the handle was set onto the side of the jug.
