LITTLE BROWN JUG! Presented here for Stoneware Collectors and Set Decorators. Is this genuine antique 19thc Stoneware Jug covered with a deep dark layer of Albany Brown Slip Glaze and fitted with a Pour Lip Spout for your liquid refreshment, did anyone say Moonshine? This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Stoneware Jug stands 10" tall and measures 7 7/8" across the base diameter formed in a slight gumdrop shape with well formed loop strap handle flowing right into a pointed pour lip spout neck fitted with an old cork that moves in and out freely at will. Slight dishing of neck to catch drips(lest you shall waste any good liquid refreshment to spillage! Scale weight is a rock solid heavy ... morefive pounds! Slight lighter brown kiss mark haze near bottom due to uneven firing in the making. Please study pictures taken outdoors in natural sunlight to view all colors and characteristics of this sturdy piece of pottery. Very thick chocolate brown overglaze with no flaking or fry anywhere coats the exterior with a plain bottom. Unsigned, and no capacity mark, but I would call this a goodly one gallon size. Condition Report: Stone Ping from the firing process is seen on upper right shoulder opposite handle(Picture 4.Glaze rim flke 1/4" Picture 6) at 12 noon position of rim from age and use. No body hairlines or cracks. And No repairs anywhere, this is an honest Stoneware Jug as found in very nice condition. You are bidding on a Henry J Barnett Albany NY Whiskey Jug. This is a genuine antique stoneware jug from the latter half of the 19th century. It is in remarkable condition for any age. One slight natural blemish under the word Albany. The item is nicely glazed. No chips or cracks. The handle is intact and hand attached. I'll even throw in the corn cob stopper! sr 1262013 I am not an antique dealer. This is being sold for a friend who has had this forever and has had to part with his collections due to hard times. So please feel free to ask any questions prior to purchase! This jug has lots of flaws or some say character. I cannot not find definitive markings. However, there are markings underneath the pour spout that we can not decipher. There also appear to be markings on the bottom that look like initials, but age has deteriorated it. The brown part of the jug is full of flea bites, comes with the cork. The base of the handle is not perfect but it looks like it was manufactured that way. The crock has a dent in it on the right hand side of the spout, as well as a square chip from the base of the bottom. There are also flea bites and flaws from manufacturer. Antique whiskey jug primitive stoneware moonshine bottle crock pottery
Offered for auction is this interesting primitive whiskey jug. This antique has probably seen a lot of use over the years and was probably used to hold moonshine at some point. it has probably seen a lot of partying in it's day. There is a cork in it which has an opening for liquid to pass through. It is dark brown on the top portion and kind of a tan/off white on the bottom portion. Base is a little over 7 inches tall and the entire jug is about 10.5 inches high. Base is approximately 7 inches in diameter. Bottom is slightly concave and has strips of old fabric affixed. There are several chips which are shown in the photos. Common for an item like this. items are sold as is and are represented as in used conditon. Antique Whiskey / Moonshine JUG /Stoneware - Pottery- Crock/ Rustic - Primative
This is a very old stoneware/ pottery type jug. Likely used to hold whiskey, maybe moonshine! or water. It is 11 inches tall by 4 inches wide- I believe it is a 1 gallon capacity. The jug is a nice off white color and is all the same color which is somewhat uncommon. The neck and opening are nice and smooth. The cork is long gone sadly. There are a few chips on the bottom(not noticeable unless you flip it over) and a few rough spots and nicks along the extended lip of the body, but nothing deterring to the aesthetics of the jug. The bottom of the jug is not smooth like the rest of the jug, there are some slight ripples in the glaze and uneven coloration. The camera's flash bounced off of the surface and it may appear as though there is a crack in the bottom, however there are NO cracks in this jug. This is a really primitive piece and ... morewill look great in your rustic decor. Since it is all one color- and not two toned like so many jugs, it will be a great piece to add to a collection. Antique Brown Pottery Moonshine Whiskey Stacker Jug-Possibly Hahn-Edgefield, SC?
Offered is this antique dark brown stoneware moonshine whiskey stacker jug. I have been told this is possibly a Hahn piece from Edgefield County. South Carolina. There is what looks like an"H" followed by other letters on the collar(see last photo) but it may just be wishful thinking; not all Hahn pieces were marked. Anyway. For what it's worth. I did find it in South Carolina in a county adjacent to Edgefield. Whatever its origins. This is still a great primitive-looking jug! The jug measures approx. 8 1/2" high and is about 5 3/4" across at the base. It holds approx. 80 oz. 2 1/2 quarts) It is in good condition. But as you can obviously see from the photos, the handle has been broken off. There is an indent near the base. Whether by design or a manufacturing mistake. There are also small chips and the surface is ... morerough and bumpy. But I see no cracks. There are small pieces of something rattling around inside the jug. Antique Vintage Stoneware Pottery Whiskey Moonshine Jug This half gallon moonshine jug is approaching 100 years old. It is close to 9 inches tall and 5.75 inches in diameter. It is heavy and weighs 3 lbs. 13 oz. all by itself, without box and packing materials. It is in very good condition with no cracks or crazing, and only one flaw to label a"chip" The chip is shown on the last picture, and seen on some of the other pictures. All other"flaws" or areas of interest seen on the pictures are not chips, but original flaws(the ones in the upper section are under the glaze) in this primitive item.
