SIZE: This jug measures approx. 12" tall and 8 1/2" on the base. Conditon: Used no visible cracks noticed. There is a very small chip on inside of pour hole(see photo#2) and clay is showing thru glazing(see photo#4) from the pottery manufacturer further evidence of its age. Antique C Hermann Whiskey Jug Salt Glazed Rust and Brown Tones 1 gallon
This is a wonderful old crockery sipping jug. Although I do not know how anyone could possibly sip from a jug as heavy as this. This weighs almost 10 pounds, you can tell it is a very old jug the minute you lift it. On the jug is the emblem for C. Hermann& Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We looked this company up and they stopped making this kind of jug in 1875 so it cannot be newer than that. It is in remarkable condition with no chips or cracks. This jug is almost 9 inches high and about 6 inches in diameter. The jug has a salt glaze. The red brown color occupies the first 2/3 of the jug and then moves to dark brown to tan. The bottom is unglazed. As I said this is a very heavy item. Careful packaging requires a larger box that will hold substantial packaging material. There are 3 tiny jugs ranging in size from 1 1/2- 2 inches.All have some issues like missing handles.Chips,missing spout,but are still really cute! The shoes are another story! They are in very good condition with some very minor chipping as can be seen in the photos! They are a dark brown in color and though very similar they are not quite a pair. This small vintage or antique dark brown glazed stoneware pitcher features a rough raised design all the way around and an extra-big handle. The pitcher stands about 3 1/4" high and is approx. 4 1/2" across from handle to spout. There is some wear on the glazing and a couple of minor chips but otherwise is in very good condition. It is marked with what looks like"75" on the bottom; could be referring to 1875. 1975(although I think it's older than that) or something else entirely. S/H includes insurance. Rare Antique glazed Brown Jug VERY unusal shape 10 inches tall
This jug is a very odd shape. It is about 10 1/2 inches tall and 7 3/4 inches in diameter. My father in law did some research and he came to the conclusion that it was made sometime in the 1700's. I do not see any identifying marks on it. The top of the handle looks like it was molded right in and the bottom part applied. Please check out all of the pictures. It holds approximately 1 gallon and is a great item for collectors of antique stoneware. Condition: This item is antique and shows some signs of wear. The jug has some flea bites which get slightly bigger near the spout and base. One of the bigger flea bites can be found on the outside of the handle near the spout.The inner top of the spout has a medium sized dent in it near the handle. This original, lovely salt glazed brown jug would be an excellent addition to your collection. The stout beehive ceramic style is 6 1/4" tall with a diameter also 6 1/4" Signed in the scratch style of the days by"Fred S. Classey. a local grocer long before the days of prohibition, the rustic glazing technique is predominant in this piece. I tend to buy out entire households and collection lots, and I'm always trying to clear out space in my storage areas so I can buy more! Unusual. Old and rarely-seen things are my passion, so You are bidding on or purchasing: AN ANTIQUE BROWN STONEWARE PRIMITIVE GLAZED JUG. KENTUCKY FARM FIND 1/2 GALLON SIZE BOURBON WHISKEY MOONSHINE HAND TURNED GREAT FORM AND FINISH. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE STONEWARE JUG offered as acquired from estate. I discovered this piece a few years back in a barn in Henry County. Kentucky, and am offering it just as found- magnificent old piece with great form. Has subtly defined ribs from turning. Applied handle, and I really like the shape on this one; shoulders do not flare in a pronounced way, so you ... moreget more of a minie ball shape than a beehive. If it was good enough for a moonshiner, it's good enough for me! Jug holds 8 cups(1/2 gallon) of fluid comfortably to shoulders. Or 9 if the guy filling it up really likes you. Stands almost 10 inches tall and is about 5 1/4 inches diameter at base. Condition is difficult to describe with these pieces, as you expect some normal imperfections in the original glaze, and there may be a few original slips in the paint or pinpoint wear, but there are no notable chips, cracks, dings or repairs of any kind. One area around side/base join looks a bit jinxy, but this is obviously the original craftsmanship and not damage. There is one bit of a nick in the handle, but it is under the original paint and glaze. So it's original. There are plenty of photos from every angle, so check all of them out: This is a nice one here, with real character and collectible value- have at it! Antique 5 Gallon Brown Glazed Top Tennessee Stoneware Pottery Whisky Beehive Jug
This is a fantastic antique two-toned brown and natural glazed stoneware whisky jug from Tennessee that is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It is beautiful all over with the rich. Even, shiny, brown glaze on the top and the even natural toned glaze on the bottom that is covered with natural crazing from age(shown in the last photo) giving it a charming vintage look. There is some light scuffing and scratching on the surface, but no other obvious damage. I haven't tried to fill it, but it is the same size as other 5 gallon jugs I have and it is definitely larger than a 3 gallon, so I believe it holds 5 gallons. It measures 11" W x 18" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Large Antique Chocolate Brown Glazed Pottery Jug
I am auctioning a nice. Large, brown stoneware pottery jug. I believe this antique has Indiana origins as it was an estate item there. It is unmarked as far as identification, there are no letters, maker marks or numbers on it. I think it is a 2 gallon jug, it is 12 1/2" tall, 9" in diameter, mouth opening is 1 1/4" and it is very heavy,weighing nearly 10 1/2 pounds. It has a few glaze nicks and some chips at the bottom and top edges, they all can be seen in photos. It has a flat, cream colored, stoneware bottom. Antique Glazed Primitive Brown Pottery Jug Dtd July 6, 1894, United States
This unusual brown pottery jug was found in my parents' estate. It is unknown what its original use was for(syrup. Liquor perhaps) but it only has one opening on the top where its contents can be poured. Stamped on the top are the words"Patent July 6th 1894" When you shake it, there is a rattling sound which may be the stopper inside. It has a few dings on the bottom in the glaze but otherwise is in perfect shape. There is a swirling mark lighter in the glaze on one side that looks like an"m" The jug is 9 3/4" tall and 7 1/2" from spout to handle.

Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Jug Dark Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Wide Mouth!!
Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug This is a rare opportunity to own a very old 3 Gallon salt glazed stoneware handled jug with a wide mouth in a very dark brown. I'm estimating 1800's. But it may be older-look at the pictures and judge for yourself. It has a primitive"3" near the top. No other marks. The top is slightly darker than the bottom. 14-1/2 inches high and has a 9-1/2" diameter. The mouth is almost 4" across. Condition: Very good given it's age. Handle is intact and solid. No chips around the mouth and only minor chips around the top edge of the body. The top has some lighter color in a very few small spots-may be paint drips or an old attempt to touch it up. Regardless, it only adds to the patina of the jug. The bottom has some damage as can be seen from the last 3 photos, ... morebut it appears to be age related. There is the start of a hairline crack near the bottom, but the jug appears to be solid and should be around for a very long time-see last photo. See high resolution photos for more! This is a great old jug and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's home! Please note that I will be having a knee replacement soon so that this listing and all my others will be ending during the second week of October. Vintage/Antique Brown Stoneware Glazed Gallon Jug w/ Handle Gorgeous Heavy
Up for sale is a vintage/antique brown stoneware gallon jug I purchased at an estate sale. It appears to be in decent condition with some minor wear and tear. I do not see any cracks in the handle or on the piece itself. Just some flaws in the finish which were common in the making of these jugs. Each was hand made, so every one is individual and it's own work of art. The top is glazed brown and it has one handle on the side of the spout. The base is thicker and is stoneware. There is no makers mark, so I am unsure on how old this piece is or where it was made or by whom. All I know is this is a very solid, heavy, quality made piece that upon looking at it, one can tell it was handmade. This would make a fine display piece in any kitchen, dining room, den, bar, family room, garden, etc etc. I suppose you could even bottle your'shine ... morein it for more authenticity, appears to hold approximately one gallon. Antique Glazed Brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug Circa 1880 -Rare small size
Up for sale is a rare size Antique glazed dark brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug circa 1880-1900. This jug measures 6 3/8" tall from the top of the handle to the base. The base measures 5" across. This was meant to be filled for individual daily use. LOL. It was difficult to get the accurate color to reflect in the pictures because of lighting and camera flash but this jug is not 2 toned. It is one solid dark brown. When it was in the kiln it was too close to another jug which is the reason for the area on the side which measures about 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall. There is another spot where the jug must have"dinged" with another by all appearances that happened during the making process. The clip is perfect as is the handle. It has blue 3 in leaf circle on front. I do not know the maker but standard ware of late 19th early 20th century. I do not know the age but great example of crockery from early 20th century.
