1800 - 1900 German Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug w/ Enameling Westerwald LARGE
19th Century German Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug with Enameling Sponged Base PICTURES TELL CONDITION- Bought directly from Germany appprox 20 yrs ago in Westerwald area. Stoneware is gray or bluish-gray tint of the body and a heavy brilliant salt glaze which are the chief characteristics of Grenzhausen stoneware. The decoration is cobalt blue. However, this stoneware may also have purple or brown enamels. Marks seldom appear on Grenzhausen ware, and the bases, as a rule, present a smooth and carefully sponged suface. Handles were generally recurved or curled up at the lower ends, but in the later 1800's this practise was abandon and plain handles or those terminating in a flat point were much more common. Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Jug Dark Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Wide Mouth!!
Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug This is a rare opportunity to own a very old 3 Gallon salt glazed stoneware handled jug with a wide mouth in a very dark brown. I'm estimating 1800's. But it may be older-look at the pictures and judge for yourself. It has a primitive"3" near the top. No other marks. The top is slightly darker than the bottom. 14-1/2 inches high and has a 9-1/2" diameter. The mouth is almost 4" across. Condition: Very good given it's age. Handle is intact and solid. No chips around the mouth and only minor chips around the top edge of the body. The top has some lighter color in a very few small spots-may be paint drips or an old attempt to touch it up. Regardless, it only adds to the patina of the jug. The bottom has some damage as can be seen from the last 3 photos, ... morebut it appears to be age related. There is the start of a hairline crack near the bottom, but the jug appears to be solid and should be around for a very long time-see last photo. See high resolution photos for more! This is a great old jug and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's home! Please note that I will be having a knee replacement soon so that this listing and all my others will be ending during the second week of October. If not before, and I do not know when they will resume. If you see something you like and have been watching, I suggest you bid soon.
RARE MID 1800'S STONEWARE FLASK BOTTLE HIP FLASK PUMPKINSEED BOTTLE
JUST OUT OF AN OLD NORTHEAST OHIO FARMHOUSE ESTATE I FOUND THIS REALLY UNUSUAL SMALL SIZE FLAT SIDED FLASK BOTTLE. I HAVE ALSO SEEN THESE CALLED PUMPKINSEED BOTTLES BUT I BELIEVE IT IS A SMALL SIZE HIP FLASK BOTTLE. IT IS WELL THROWN WITH 2 INCISED LINES AROUND THE TOP OF SHOULDER PLUS 1 INCISED LINE GOING AROUND JUST A BIT UNDER TOP OF LIP. BOTTOM HAS HAND PUSHED UP CENTER AND YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE MAKERS THUMB PRINT IS THAT WAS PARTIALLY COVERED WITH GLAZE WHEN THAT WAS DONE. TOP LIP IS VERY SLIGHTLY COCKEYED AND SIDES ARE SLIGHTLY IRREGULAR BUT STILL FLAT TYPICAL OF HAND CRAFTSMANSHIP. INTERIOR IS UNGLAZED. NO CHIPS CRACKS REPAIRS. THAT SMALL CIRCLE ON TOP BOTTOM SIDE OF BASE SHOWN IN LAST PHOTO IS PURELY JUST A DARK BROWN GLAZE MISS NOT A CHIP GARENTEED. THERE COULD BE A GLAZED OVER INCISED MARKING AT TOP JUST UNDER THE RINGS ON ONE SIDE ... moreAS SHOWN IN PHOTO 4. IT MEASURES 5 1/16 AT HIGHEST BY 3 1/2 AT WIDEST 2 1/8 AT DEEPEST PART OF BODY. THESE TYPE OF BOTTLES ARE UNCOMMON AND NOT EASY TO FIND. BUYER TO PAY WITHIN 3 DAYS THANKS.
EXCELLENT~ 1800's Albany Slip Glaze Stoneware Molasses Jug
This is an excellent early 1 gallon jug. Preserved in near original condition. It features a rich, deep brown Albany slip glaze and is completely free of chips, cracks, and repairs. The glaze is worn away on one side of the spout as well as a tiny bare spot on the handle. Near the bottom there are a couple of spots missing glaze and it appears these are resulting from the makers fingerprints! It appears that tbe original cork is still firmly in place, so I will let the buyer remove it and determine what it was they were sippin years ago. Please be sure to see my other items for a selection of fine quality stoneware, glassware, and pottery. A beautiful old sipping jug with a nice pinched spout in excellent condition! All of my items are shipped insured. Well packaged, and with delivery confirmation*

1800 - 1849 Shenandoah Virginia Stoneware Cobalt Blue Flower Jug AS IS
Nice early jug that took a beating. Broke into 4 or 5 pieces(not including handle. Which is missing) 1 small piece in front is missing. Not sure when it was broken and glued together. I'd say this is 1830s or 40s. I'm not an expert but I was told this is definitely Virginia and possibly Shenandoah area. You be the judge. Great cobalt flower still presents nicely. Attractive mottled honey brown glaze. In the making flaws at shoulders, probably from the stacking in kiln. About 9" high. 6" at widest. Please see all photos for condition. A flash glare-spot shows in center of photos. Ask any questions. Thanks for looking.

Antique Vintage Late 1800's Beehive 1 Gallon Stoneware jug with Bail Handle
This auction is from our family estate sale and was handmade and fired in the late 1800's- 1900. It is still very solid and intact. And holds one gallon of water that has been physically measured. As evident in the pictures, it has a beautiful spider webbed glazing and beige patina that has came naturally with age. It's approximately 9 1/2 inches tall and the base measures about 6 inches. The total circumference around the jug at the widest point below the shoulders is 23 1/2 inches. It's VERY heavy for its size weighing 3lbs 15.6oz empty. It has a very slight, minor chip on the back of the neck which is hard to see as it occurred quite some time ago and has darkened with age. A picture of it is included. It has a wooden stopper which has a small, plugged-hole drilled through from top to bottom. I assumed because of this that ... morewine was made in this jug at some stage in its long life. We have no solid evidence where it was made, other than our family has owned it for many generations and are originally from central Ohio with German heritage. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have and I'll do my best to help answer them. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

ANTIQUE MINIATURE 1800's SALT GLAZE JUG REDWING UNION MINN STONEWARE
Offering a very old miniature bee hive jug unmarked. The glaze has a shine to it but looks and feels like salt glaze. I found this in a very old building attic in a small town in Iowa. On condition it measures 2 1/2 inches tall and 1 3/4 diameter. It is very nice no chips no cracks but get this it was full of birdseed I think it was a premium thrown in sacks of feed. I wish it was marked to tell which pottery around Iowa it was made. On color its kind of green blotchy all over and has been swiped on bottom. I know this is an old piece and I'm starting the bid at 99.00 because I know I won't find another like it in this condition.
