Vintage (2) 5 Gallon gallon Stoneware Crock Brown Whiskey Jugs Lot
I have two vintage whiskey jugs. Brown on top and beige on bottom. I cannot find any kind of markings on them. I think they may be 5 gallon judging by the measurements of others that look similar on eBay. They measure approximately 15 inches tall by a 10 inch diameter. Large and heavy. I have a 10 lb. scale and each is over on that so I am unsure as to the exact weight. Will update when possible. I cannot find any cracks, there is one chip on the botton of one jug as pictured.

I sent pictures to Crocker Farms auctions and they said the jug was probably a Red Wing jug. I saw a picture of a simular jug on the Red Wing society page"ASK THE EXPERTS also.And they had the same reply as it probably was also. I am not 100% positive this is a Red Wing Jug,going on what I have been told and it is not marked. It stands 16" tall and 12" round,has a hand applied handle. ENORMOUS HAND TURNED BROWN BEE HIVE WHISKEY STONEWARE JUG 5 GALLON 19 INCHES
Fantastic very hard to find very large brown. Possibly red wing, bee hive hand turned whisky jug. This is either a 5 or 6 gallon jug. It measures 19" tall. The circumference is a whopping 38" It measures 11 inches across the bottom. I put this next to my other brown bee hive jugs to give you an idea of just how big this jug really is. The next size down in the pics is 13" inches tall. When people list jugs that are 13" tall they call them LARGE. There is a small chip on the lip and there is a hairline crack down the side. It is in pretty nice condition with a few flaws. There is a spider crack as seen in the first 2 pictures. This is a surface issue and does not impact the structure and integrity of the jug. Also. A bubble in the glazing has“popped” giving the appearance of a chip; this is seen in the 4th picture. There are no other cracks or chips. It has the cobalt 5 and the nice rounded shoulder. The number 5 is in blue near the upper portion white portion with little blue feathery or fleur-de-lis symbold on either side of the 5. Unsure who the manufacturer of this jug is. But it's a heavy one. Top and handle are dark brown, has a narrow unglazed ledge, white on the lower part. Purchased 27 years ago at an antique auction, kept inside since. The owner seemed to be sued a lot for not fulfilling orders and promises. I've been able to connect him to the beginning of Canadian Club and a few other huge whisky names. The crock is in decent shape for being over a hundred years old. It has a few notable chips and it has crazing throughout. There is a mark on the back that I can't tell if it's a scratch or crack. Hello. You are viewing my sale for an Antique Stoneware Pottery Whiskey Jug. This is a 5 Gallon jug with the number 5 inside of a Blue Horseshoe Logo. This is a 2 Tone Color color jug with the top being a dark brown and the bottom section having a cream color. This is a large jug that weighs 26 pounds and measures 18 and 1/2" tall by 11" across at the base with a 2 and 1/4" across mouth. There is some minor wear present as well as a small chip on the inner section of the mouth as well as some fine hairline cracks towards the bottom in a small area section. I have provided photographs for this. There are no further breaks, chips, or repairs present. This is a must have stoneware jug for any serious collector.
