LITTLE BROWN JUG! Presented here for Stoneware Collectors and Set Decorators. Is this genuine antique 19thc Stoneware Jug covered with a deep dark layer of Albany Brown Slip Glaze and fitted with a Pour Lip Spout for your liquid refreshment, did anyone say Moonshine? This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Stoneware Jug stands 10" tall and measures 7 7/8" across the base diameter formed in a slight gumdrop shape with well formed loop strap handle flowing right into a pointed pour lip spout neck fitted with an old cork that moves in and out freely at will. Slight dishing of neck to catch drips(lest you shall waste any good liquid refreshment to spillage! Scale weight is a rock solid heavy ... morefive pounds! Slight lighter brown kiss mark haze near bottom due to uneven firing in the making. Please study pictures taken outdoors in natural sunlight to view all colors and characteristics of this sturdy piece of pottery. Very thick chocolate brown overglaze with no flaking or fry anywhere coats the exterior with a plain bottom. Unsigned, and no capacity mark, but I would call this a goodly one gallon size. Condition Report: Stone Ping from the firing process is seen on upper right shoulder opposite handle(Picture 4.Glaze rim flke 1/4" Picture 6) at 12 noon position of rim from age and use. No body hairlines or cracks. And No repairs anywhere, this is an honest Stoneware Jug as found in very nice condition. So please feel free to ask any questions prior to purchase! This jug has lots of flaws or some say character. I cannot not find definitive markings. However, there are markings underneath the pour spout that we can not decipher. There also appear to be markings on the bottom that look like initials, but age has deteriorated it. The brown part of the jug is full of flea bites, comes with the cork. The base of the handle is not perfect but it looks like it was manufactured that way. The crock has a dent in it on the right hand side of the spout, as well as a square chip from the base of the bottom. There are also flea bites and flaws from manufacturer. Antique Fee Bros. Brothers Rochester NY Wine Liquor Whiskey Pottery Jug Crock
This auction is for an antique pottery jug marked"Fee Bros. It is in good used condition with some small paint spots and one 1/8" ding in the side. But no cracks, chips or crazing. It measures about 6 1/2" in diameter at the bottom and it is about 7 1/2" tall. Fee Brothers is from Rochester, NY and was started in 1864, but began using"Fee Brothers" as a name in 1883. At this time they made and distributed wine and also dealt in other alcoholic beverages, but I don't know it's original contents. They are still in business today as a maker of extracts. A very nice example, low minimum bid! No reserve auction!

VINTAGE Whiskey Jug Stoneware Pottery 2 1/2 Gallons Cork Crock Handle Saltware
Here is a Vintage Stoneware Whiskey/ Water Jug with a Handle and Cork. It belonged to my in-laws and has been in storage for a long time. If the whole jug is filled it is 2 1/2 Gallons(it has a small corn cob in it that had been used where the cork is) It measures 14 1/2" Tall. 9 3/4" in Width. It weighs almost 10 lbs. empty. I don't know if this is what is considered saltware as there are no markings that I can find. It is in good condition. There are some chips and a very small crack(it only appears to be in the glazing and does not go all the way through, please see pics) I will ship it as cheap as possible and it will include insurance. Antique whiskey jug primitive stoneware moonshine bottle crock pottery
Offered for auction is this interesting primitive whiskey jug. This antique has probably seen a lot of use over the years and was probably used to hold moonshine at some point. it has probably seen a lot of partying in it's day. There is a cork in it which has an opening for liquid to pass through. It is dark brown on the top portion and kind of a tan/off white on the bottom portion. Base is a little over 7 inches tall and the entire jug is about 10.5 inches high. Base is approximately 7 inches in diameter. Bottom is slightly concave and has strips of old fabric affixed. There are several chips which are shown in the photos. Common for an item like this. items are sold as is and are represented as in used conditon. This jug is"dug" in"dug" condition with some minor nicks, chipping on the mouth, glaze ware. This is a hand made jug with an applied handle, it appears that the handle was broke off at some point in time& re-connected. There are no cracks or any other damage. The jug shows normal ware from age, use, being buried for no telling how long. It is seldom that one digs up pottery, stoneware, or crockery in one piece, it is usually broken due to moisture in the ground& pressure from being buried. Antique Whiskey / Moonshine JUG /Stoneware - Pottery- Crock/ Rustic - Primative
This is a very old stoneware/ pottery type jug. Likely used to hold whiskey, maybe moonshine! or water. It is 11 inches tall by 4 inches wide- I believe it is a 1 gallon capacity. The jug is a nice off white color and is all the same color which is somewhat uncommon. The neck and opening are nice and smooth. The cork is long gone sadly. There are a few chips on the bottom(not noticeable unless you flip it over) and a few rough spots and nicks along the extended lip of the body, but nothing deterring to the aesthetics of the jug. The bottom of the jug is not smooth like the rest of the jug, there are some slight ripples in the glaze and uneven coloration. The camera's flash bounced off of the surface and it may appear as though there is a crack in the bottom, however there are NO cracks in this jug. This is a really primitive piece and ... morewill look great in your rustic decor. Since it is all one color- and not two toned like so many jugs, it will be a great piece to add to a collection. Vintage 1930's/1940's or earlier large jug crock with cork. It measures 12" tall with a 6 1/2" outside diameter at base. The capacity looks like 1- 1 1/2 gallons. It is a heavy thick wall salt glaze glazed stoneware stone ware pottery jug with a cup style side handle near the top. The crock is in very good condition. It is glazed brown on the top half and tan on the bottom half. The exterior bottom is glazed in the center area and unglazed around the rim showing the stoneware. There is a remnants of a loose cork left. The crock displays beautifully and shows normal use wear as pictured. This is a very well made heavy. Thick walled jug. It is sold as is. $16.00 postage.

It is in really good condition for being well over 100 years old since it was probably made in the late 1800s. It has a chip about the size of 1/2 a nickle and 2 much much smaller nicks next to it(our last 2 pictures) There are also some very minor scratches and nicks to the glaze which just adds character to the jug. Has no cracks. Has only two deep chips and a couple very small nicks as shown in several close-up photos. One chip is at the edge of the handle and the other is at the top edge of the opening. The two small nicks are also on the edge of the handle. There is a small spot on top of the opening where the glaze did not fully cover the pottery during the original ... morefiring. Rare "Real" Southern Antique Buggy Jug AAFA crock whiskey pottery Great Glaze
Here is real buggy jug. Most of the jugs sold as buggys are not of the correct form. This one would not tip over on a bumpy ride. It was found in an old barn in Florida. It has a killer gunmetal glaze with nice drips. The jug does have hair line cracks at the bottom but they are stable and I don't think they go all the way through to the inside. I filled it with water and it did not leak at all over night. You can see the cracks in the last two pictures. I have not seen another jug like this one with this sort of glaze before and consider it to be a great find. A wonderful addition to any pottery collection. Jug is six inches tall. IBERVILLE STONEWARE POTTERY FARRAR WHISKEY CROCK 1850-1875
We love our old jugs down here in the south and as bad as I hate to say it this one rivals any of them. The neck is thick as well as the throat. The handle is thick as well. We were always told to not GRAB IT BY THE HANDLE! This one you won't have to worry about because this ole boy was made to with stand a lot of handling. He stands 12" tall and is 7 1/2" across the bottom. The stamp looks to read D L or E L FARRAR. IBERVILLE PQ which we think would be QUEBEC. What little we could find from history of the company would date this jug in the mid 1800's and most likely made in Vermont or New York. The stamp is not real clear on the two initials but it appears to be D L or E L. All in all this jug is a very good one and we really do believe anyone would proudly display him out for everyone to enjoy. Oh my, if he could only ... moretalk!
