Up close and personal in your hands this is a fantastic piece of very early Blue and White stoneware designed and intended for every day use! A NOTE UP FRONT: This Blue and White Stoneware Doe with Fawn Pitcher was made by J.W. McCoy Pottery Co. Roseville, Ohio, 1899 to 1910, and, later, by Brush-McCoy Pottery Co, Roseville, Ohio, 1911 to 1923. It is illustrated in every J.W. McCoy and Brush-McCoy pottery product catalog of that period. Each pottery produced thousands of pieces each month and there was money to be had in volume. Quality control was second to mass production and as a result a number of manufacture errors were typically released to the public. Common errors include glaze skips; drips from excessive color or glazes; bubbles. Pinpoint sized pops(caused from minute air bubbles caught in the slip/greenware as the piece was being created) blowouts, blisters, and kiln-kisses in the glaze; slight color differences between lids and bottoms(lids and bottoms were formed, colored, glazed, a

Nice early 1800s Georgian blue & white glazed and sprigged stoneware jug
We are listing this nice early 1800s blue and white glazed stoneware jug with decorative bands around the rim. Three large classical sprigs, and ring turning above the base. The two side sprigs are from ancient mythology, but I do not know their meaning. The jug is 5 inches tall, almost 7.5 inches at its widest point, and displays very well. It does have minor flaws- slight rubbing on the spout, a couple of missing beads on the upper decorative bands, and a couple of separation lines on the sprigging(as well as crazing inside the jug, and thin hairlines on the bottom) but these do not detract from the visual effect of this old jug. Large early 1800s Georgian blue & white glazed and sprigged stoneware hunt jug
We are listing this large early 1800s Georgian blue and white glazed and sprigged hunt jug. In addition to the standard hunt scene sprigs which encircle the jug. There is also a beaded band below the rim, and three beaded bands below the sprigging. The base on this jug is unusually large, which is sometimes seen on jugs used at sea(for obvious reasons, with the shipboard hazards 200 years ago) The jug is 6 inches tall, 8 inches at its widest point, and displays well. There are hairlines at the bottom of the spout and down one side of the spout(and that one carries through to the inside as well) several separation lines and small losses on the sprigging, and some crackling to the glaze(mostly on the bottom) Still this is a pretty and impressive old jug- please view the close up pictures and judge for yourself. Beautiful early 1800s Georgian blue & white glazed and sprigged stoneware jug
We are listing this beautiful early 1800s Georgian glazed and sprigged stoneware jug. This is a fantastic(but unmarked) piece. With its alternating acanthus leaves and bluebell stalks, wreath of hop vines encircling the neck, ring turning around the base, and very striking Bacchus spout- all covered by an exquisitely glazed finish. There is an 1830s acanthus and bluebell jug from the Cameron Hall Collection pictured and described on page 6 of A Collector's Guide to Nineteenth-Century Jugs Volume II, but it does not have the decorative spout and handle of this jug. The jug is almost 4.5 inches tall, almost 7 inches at its widest point, and in excellent condition. This is a truly exceptional 200 year old jug- please view the close up pictures and judge for yourself. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. Up for bid is an Antique. Stoneware/crock Jug. The jug measures approximately 10-1/2" tall and the base is 7-1/8" in diameter and is a combo of a very light gray with some very light tan and White. There are several chips. few around the top opening(picture 3) several around the edge of the body(pictures 4& 5) several around the bottom edge(pictures 6-9) and one in the body(picture 10) There are also some imperfections from when the jug was made such as clumps, and little holes in the clay(picture 10 shows the little holes) No crazing and no cracks. Very nice little early 1800s blue glazed white stoneware jug - classical sprigs
We are listing this very nice early 1800s Georgian blue glazed white stoneware jug with classical mythology sprigging. There is no maker's mark on the piece. But it is a typical style and quality of the premiere potters of that time period. The front sprig is two putti/cherubs lighting a torch, and the side sprigs are both women/goddesses playing lyres. There is also engine turning above the base. The jug is 3 inches tall, a little over 3.5 inches at its widest point, and in very good condition. There are some glaze rubs on the handle, and a rough spot on the spur of the handle. Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. Cute little early 1800s Georgian blue & white glazed stoneware hunt-sprigged jug
We are listing this tiny little early 1800s Georgian blue and white glazed stoneware jug. Which is sprigged all around with a hunting scene. Although the jug is unmarked, the sprigging is quite well done, as is the engine turned banding above the base- indicating this was from one of the better potteries of that period. The jug is less than 3 inches tall, less than 4 inches at its widest point, and in very good condition. The handle is slightly out of line, there are the usual separation lines on some of the sprigs and the side of the spout, and there are two tiny glaze pops inside the spout- but none of this negatively affects the look of this cute little 200 year old piece. Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Unusually sprigged early 1800s Georgian blue and white glazed stoneware mug
We are listing this early 1800s Georgian blue and white glazed stoneware mug. Which is sprigged with a seldom seen combination of sprigs. The front sprig is the three-feathered Prince of Wales badge, one side sprig is a scene from classical mythology, and the sprig on the other side shows a seemingly sad Brittania with her lion. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but it may represent a mourning for some person or historical event- but I am only guessing on that. The sprigging(including a band of leaves below the rim) is very well done, although somewhat filled in by the glaze. The blue glaze is somewhat faded out in spots, and the white portions are crackled and somewhat darkened(unless it was originally that off-white color) The mug is 3.25 inches tall, almost 5 inches at its widest point, and in very good condition. Besides the previously ... morementioned faded glaze and crackling, etc. there is a tiny flake/crack at the bottom of the handle, and a bit of the leaf band sprigging running on to the top of the handle, along with tiny, tiny rough spots on the top and bottom rims. Please view the close up pictures and judge for yourself. This is a very unique old mug. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. We are listing this cute little early 1800s Georgian brown and white glazed stoneware jug. Which is sprigged all around with a hunting scene. Vtg/Antique 11" White Glazed Stoneware Jug-Buckeye Pottery-Macomb, IL-1882-1939
Offered is this vintage or antique glazed stoneware jug. Made by the Buckeye Pottery Company of Macomb, Illinois and marked on the bottom with their buckeye tree logo. Internet research finds that this company was in business from 1882-1939, when they were bought by another pottery company. I describe the color as"white" but of course as with most jugs it is not pure snow-white. But more of an ivory or very pale beige. It stands about 11" high and is just over 7" across on the bottom. I did not measure the jug's capacity but assume it is one gallon? The jug has a cork. Stamped with the words"Hardware& General Store" The jug is in very good condition. There are some small chips around the top rim and a couple of short. Thin surface cracks near the bottom(see last photo) Just about the entire jug shows ... moresurface crazing. As you might expect. This is a heavy item so shipping will be rather expensive. I am calculating the shipping using USPS but will send FedEx Ground if that is cheaper. I would also welcome pickup in person by anyone close enough to make that feasible. Please take a moment to look at the other items in my eBay store!
Very pretty early 1800s Georgian blue and white glazed & sprigged stoneware jug
We are listing this very pretty early 1800s Georgian stoneware jug which is sprigged with numerous well defined classical mythology scenes(and a decorative band of leaves and grapes under the rim) Ring turned above the base, and beautifully glazed in blue and white. There is no maker's mark(just an impressed number 2 on the base) but this is definitely a top quality 200 year old jug by one of the very best potteries of the time. It is also a very substantial jug- 5.5 inches tall, 8 inches at its widest point, and quite heavy. This is a very attractive jug which displays very well, with only the following minor flaws- there is a hairline in the spout, a couple of very shallow glaze flakes on the bottom rim(which really can't be seen from the side) and tiny separation lines at the handle and the spout. Surprisingly, it does not have ... moreany of the usual separation lines in the sprigging- again indicating the superb quality of the sprigging and glazing of this jug. Please view the closeup pictures and judge for yourself- this is one of the best jugs of this type I have ever seen. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will be charged at cost. Payment must be made by Paypal within three days of the auction ending.
