Antique Vintage Primitive 2 Tone Salt Glaze Stoneware Jug/Lamp Hand Painted
This is a wonderful old brown top salt glazed whiskey jug measuring approximately 11 inches tall and a diameter of approximately 7 inches. The jug has no cracks but does have a few chips. 4 around the ledge of the jug, 2 of which are not that noticeable because they are located almost right on the ledge and blend in very well. The other two are just below the ledge(see picture 3) This jug also has a small hole drilled at the bottom of the back side for an electric cord(see picture 3) to be used as a lamp. The front side of the jug has an hand painted apple motif. Some of the paint has rubbed off but again does not in any way take away from the beauty of this jug and in fact would be expected for the age. The handle is perfect and the jug has had no repairs. There are some manufacturers defects(see picture 4) the most apparent which looks ... morelike a dent. I think it enhances the charm of this old jug. A beautiful jug for any collector or for decorative purposes.

Vintage Stoneware Crock Jug - 2 Tone Brown/Tan & Off White
Vintage stoneware crock jug. The jug is a 2 tone brown/tan and off white. The jug is approximately 11" tall and 6 1/2" in diameter(measured on bottom) tape measure shown in photos as well. The jug is not perfect and does have some wear but just adds to the character of the piece. I tried to capture all main wear in the attached photos. There are some chips along bottom edge. An area of crazing on one side, a couple stoneware imperfections on one side in the brown area(doesn't look to be chips- looks to be be from when made) I have found no cracks. The neck looks to have been hand formed and the handle to be applied. Nice item. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Moonshine jug in good condition. 6-1/2" diameter at base, 2 tiny chips on inside edge of lip, crackling in light tan glaze on lower half, and some drip mark hazing of surface of dark brown upper half, otherwise any other scrapes, dings, bumps dimples or other surface irregularities on this jug are from the forming process! No makers marks found anywhere on this, but close inspection does seem to show indications of hand-forming around the neck and bottom of handle/loop. Thank you for viewing this auction for an antique stoneware jug. This is a larger jug. Which would probably hold around 2gal of liquid. This jug has a dark brown glaze on the upper portion where the jug bung and handle are located. The bottom potion of the jug is covered in an off-white, or beige glaze. The handle on this jug is substantial and sound. The handle has a graceful sweep and design. There is no advertising. Or producer marks on this jug, so I am unsure what it was used for, or exactly how old it is. I am very certain this jug is over 100 years old; the condition and style is consistent with a jug of that age. The condition of this jug is used. There is crazing in the glaze throughout this piece. However, crazing is not sever, and causing and structural issues. There are chips in the stoneware towards the bottom of the jug, which ... moreis consistent wear for a piece like this, and a result of being placed on hard surfaces over the years. There are two small chips around the jug’s bung; these are smaller chips, one measuring 1/8” in diameter, and the other chip about ½” long, but only about a 1/16” wide. It appears that this jug will still hold fluids, for there are no major cracks in the stoneware itself. This jug does not have a cork or stopper with it. This is a fairly substantial stoneware jug. And weighs 10 lbs. unfilled. This jug stands about 12-7/8” tall and measures 8-5/8” in diameter at its base. This is a great stoneware jug for show. Or for use. This is a 2 Tone Color color jug with the top being a dark brown and the bottom section having a cream color. This is a large jug that weighs 26 pounds and measures 18 and 1/2" tall by 11" across at the base with a 2 and 1/4" across mouth. There is some minor wear present as well as a small chip on the inner section of the mouth as well as some fine hairline cracks towards the bottom in a small area section. I found this in my Grandfather's Collection. It has been stored in his attic for years. I think it is a whiskey/moonshiner jug. As far as I know it's an antique and because of that.
