THIS IS AN ANTIQUE STONEWARE JUG SHOULDER JUG THIS IS AN ORIGINAL NOT A REPLICA APPROXIMATELY 9" TALL by 6" WIDE there are a couple of chips out of the bottom side but they aren't that deep and the jug wall construction is so thick it doesn't affect it at all IT IS HEAVY AND SOLID VERY OLD I CAN HEAR AND SEE THE CORK IN THE INSIDE THERE ARE NO IDENTIFYING MARKINGS ON IT I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS TOO OLD TO HAVE MARKINGS IT IS MORE ROUGHLY CONSTRUCTED THAN OTHER ANTIQUE JUGS I'VE SEEN SO I DON'T KNOW IF THAT WOULD BE ANY INDICATION OF AGE?

Is this genuine antique 19thc Stoneware Jug covered with a deep dark layer of Albany Brown Slip Glaze and fitted with a Pour Lip Spout for your liquid refreshment, did anyone say Moonshine? This is an American pottery piece manufactured in the post 1850 time frame for utilitarian use but now elevated into a country collectible with much charm from yesteryear just for you! Have had offers before finally decided to sell. it has been used as a book end the past 12 years since it was found in a family storage barn. The jug has a brown top and then a band of tan coloring and then cream color on the bottom section. It has an applied handle and is estimated to be half gallon size. The crock whiskey jug measures about 10 1/4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. It is pretty good condition but does have a couple of surface chips in the dark brown area toward the tan colored band. There's also crazing on the bottom and sides of the jug mainly noted in the light colored areas. The jug also has some pin holes that are normally seen on these jugs. For sale is a Antique North Carolina Earthenware Moonshine Jug circa 1870. The jug was found in a hand hewn log barn by the owner who said the barn was built in the 1860's. The jug was under the floor in a space between the rock foundation. It is possible that it was put there after the barn was built. The jug is about 9.75" tall and 7" in diameter. The jug has something in it and even though I have washed it out there is still something inside. It is possible that a bird or other animal had made a nest inside. It is very heavy weighing over seven pounds. The way the jug is made confirms it's early creation. The glaze is glass and salt which confirms the approximate age of 1850-1880. The jug is in good antique condition with no chips or cracks. Please examine the photos carefully. This is a nice old Appalachian one gallon whiskey jug. This is a very old jug. With nice antique texture and color. It has a couple of small chips in the rim and a larger chip in the base, but the jug is structurally intact and stable. It will hold liquid, no cracks or holes. The base is 7" in diameter and the jug is 10 3/4" tall. I picked up this jug on the World's Longest Yard Sale here in Northeast Alabama. Offered is this small vintage or antique beige and dark brown"moonshine" jug. The jug stands approx. 7 1/2" high. Is 4 1/4" across at the base and holds about 1 quart(actually almost a cup more will fit all the way to the top of the neck) It is in very good condition. There are numerous bumps and raised areas on the surface. I discovered that t he cork is still inside when I added water to measure the jug's capacity but I could not get it out.

Antique old used moonshine whiskey jug stoneware dark brown buried in oat bin
No chips or cracks came out of a very old barn. Was buried in the oat bin in the barn.Bet the good ol boys kept thier shine hid there. Have a lighter brown one also up for bid. Measures aprox. 11 inches tall and 26 inches around. Had this on then had a family problem and could not be sure how long I would be gone. All taken care of.

However, there are markings underneath the pour spout that we can not decipher. There also appear to be markings on the bottom that look like initials, but age has deteriorated it. The brown part of the jug is full of flea bites, comes with the cork. The base of the handle is not perfect but it looks like it was manufactured that way. The crock has a dent in it on the right hand side of the spout, as well as a square chip from the base of the bottom. There are also flea bites and flaws from manufacturer. This antique has probably seen a lot of use over the years and was probably used to hold moonshine at some point. it has probably seen a lot of partying in it's day. There is a cork in it which has an opening for liquid to pass through. It is dark brown on the top portion and kind of a tan/off white on the bottom portion. Base is a little over 7 inches tall and the entire jug is about 10.5 inches high. Base is approximately 7 inches in diameter. Bottom is slightly concave and has strips of old fabric affixed. As you can see this is an Old Style Stoneware Jug with No shoulder on the top 1/3 a rounded Top. The Old Stoneware Just is a 1 ½ gallon size and stands 11 ¾" high and 6 ½" wide. The Old Whiskey Moonshine Jug came from a recent estate sale here in New England and is a Tan& very dark Brown almost black and could use some cleaning prior to display. This auction is for an antique stoneware beehive whiskey/moonshine/apple cider or anything liguid salt glazed jug. There are no makers marks that I can find. It holds a bit more than a gallon and measures 12 1/2" high-25" in circumference. 6 1/2" across base and weighs 5 1/2 pounds. It is in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks. Antique Whiskey / Moonshine JUG /Stoneware - Pottery- Crock/ Rustic - Primative
This is a very old stoneware/ pottery type jug. Likely used to hold whiskey, maybe moonshine! or water. It is 11 inches tall by 4 inches wide- I believe it is a 1 gallon capacity. The jug is a nice off white color and is all the same color which is somewhat uncommon. The neck and opening are nice and smooth. The cork is long gone sadly. There are a few chips on the bottom(not noticeable unless you flip it over) and a few rough spots and nicks along the extended lip of the body, but nothing deterring to the aesthetics of the jug. The bottom of the jug is not smooth like the rest of the jug, there are some slight ripples in the glaze and uneven coloration. The camera's flash bounced off of the surface and it may appear as though there is a crack in the bottom, however there are NO cracks in this jug. This is a really primitive piece and ... morewill look great in your rustic decor. Since it is all one color- and not two toned like so many jugs, it will be a great piece to add to a collection.
