Three Antique Whiskey or Cider Jugs Up for auction is a great lot of three antique jugs. 1) Largest one is a 5-gallon jig with brown glazed top. Standing 19" high and weighing just under 17 pounds. It has the number 5 inside a cobalt blue crown. It has a small hole with three long curving cracks on one side. And a large flat chip off the bottom edge. 2) Smallest one is similar in style. 12" tall, appears to be a 1-Gallon size, and is unmarked. It has a small vertical flake to the glaze. 3) Third one is a 2-Gallon jug measuring 14" high with an applied handle. Up for sale is a wonderful Huge 3 Gallon Antique Stoneware Jug/ Crock. It measures 16 3/4" tall by 9 1/2" wide across the base and weighs 14lbs. This Jug does have a very thin hairline from the bottom edge to the brown section were it starts to taper up to the spout. It is a thin hairline and still holds fluids nicely. also there is a small chip to the right of the bottom hairline otherwise the condition is great. it has the big finger hole on the top but this jug would be a challenge to throw over your shoulder. Its huge! It would make a great decorating item, it has the number 3 with a flower on each side of the number but no makers name that I can find. THIS ANTIQUE 12" BROWN SLIP GLAZED STONEWARE CIDER/WHISKEY JUG. IS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR IT'S AGE. THERE IS SOME CHIPPING AROUND POUR SPOUT AND BOTTOM, SMALL NICKS IN GLAZE ALONG THE SIDES. NO CRACKS OR REPAIRS. THIS JUGS FEATURES A BEEHIVE SHAPED MARKING WITH LOW RIPPLES AROUND THE SIDES THAT ENCIRCLE THE BODY. THIS JUG IS APPROX. 12" IN HEIGHT AND THE BASE IS 8 1/2" IN DIAMETER. Stoneware Salt Glazed Cider Vinegar Jug Crock w/ original paper label Whiskey
Up for bid is an Antique. Cider Vinegar stoneware/crock Jug. The jug still has some of the original, paper Cider label attached. The jug measures approximately 10-3/4" tall(not including the cork) and the base is 7-1/4" in diameter. Due to age and use there are some imperfections. The handle has been repaired(plaster added and painted) but is not all that noticeable(pictures 10& 11) several chips(pictures 5- 8) and some other minor nicks in the stoneware. The crock glaze is uneven and spotty which adds great character to this jug. I do not know if the cork is original and it does show quite a bit of wear(missing pieces) You can also hear part of the cork inside the jug. No crazing or cracks. Wonderful old jug!
