Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider hairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. Up for auction is an Antique 4 gallon Primitive Stoneware Moonshine Shoulder Jug with a Southwest Scene hand painted on it. The hand painting is old but I think it postdates the manufacture of the piece. The hand painting will probably easily rub off with a little mineral spirits if you don't like it. It is in decent shape for its age. A few small surface chips which I have shown in the pictures. No cracks. The typical wear to the surface found on these old jugs. Pretty sure with the photos you have listed that this jug is a quarter gallon rather that a half gallon. I am not aware of anyone who has actually measured the capacity of the canteens but for over 40 years this size is considered the quart. I already have a set but my two half gallons could be upgraded. Your jug is an exceptional example of this rare piece. The ivory cream piece stands 18" tall, with an 10 3/4" diameter across the bottom. It comes with a cork, but I can't claim that it's original. A great rare marked piece from Norton& Fenton out of East Bennington. VT. Great condition with the only flaw being a pencil eraser sized clean"punch" hole to the left of the advertising. This is a very clean. Very small hole with no cracks or marks around it whatsoever and really does not detract from the overall display quality of the piece. Dated from the mid to late 1800s.
