The Wing ... moreon this crock is much larger and brighter than I have seen on many crocks. Beautiful. The crock itself is very clean and in wonderful condition especially for being almost 100 years old. It is dated by the right handle. Patented, Dec. 21st, 1915. There are 2 cracks on the inside bottom that are about 3/4 of an inch long if that. One, a surface scratch and the other is a bit bigger. There is one turkey track on the back. There are some surface cracks around the crock, nothing serious at all. The Salt Glazed Lid has a light#10 on the top of one of the petals. It has some surface cracks on it, again nothing serious. It also has a few turkey tracks. The crock has one 1/2" chip on the bottom edge and the lid has one chip the same size approx. on the round lip underneath the lid. This crock is wonderful. I am maybe being to cautious about the details. It is 16& 1/2"s tall and approx. 16"s wide across the top. I also have a#12 and#8 crock listed. Please pay within 3 Days of the Ending Date of Auction. If you need more time just let me know. I am very flexible. I prefer payment through paypal, however if you need another method of payment let me know and we will see what we can do for you. Up for auction is an Antique 4 gallon Primitive Stoneware Moonshine Shoulder Jug with a Southwest Scene hand painted on it. The hand painting is old but I think it postdates the manufacture of the piece. The hand painting will probably easily rub off with a little mineral spirits if you don't like it. It is in decent shape for its age. A few small surface chips which I have shown in the pictures. No cracks. The typical wear to the surface found on these old jugs. Special thanks to David Emett for contacting me to correct the information of the size of this rare canteen. Pretty sure with the photos you have listed that this jug is a quarter gallon rather that a half gallon. I am not aware of anyone who has actually measured the capacity of the canteens but for over 40 years this size is considered the quart. I already have a set but my two half gallons could be upgraded. Your jug is an exceptional example of this rare piece. The rarity of the quart has held but several other half gallon examples have surfaced. The quart usually brings a higher price than the half. The gallon is still the toughest to get. The front has the words"Utah Liquor Company and 167 South Main St" The backside features a scene of three men drinking. Below is more about the canteen and the Utah Liquor Company. One of the most prolific of the Utah liquors firms was the Utah Liquor Company. This firm is first noted in the 1894 in the Salt Lake City Directory. The initial establishment was at 167 South Main Street, a locale it kept through 1902. The canteens are among the most appealing examples of Utah stoneware. It contains approximately 3/4 of a gallon of tap water. I do not know who made this jug or where this jug was made, but I'm 100% convinced it is old. The clay is a metallic color. From the surface, it is sitting on, to the rim is approximately 11" The arch of the handle is slightly above the rim. The bottom is 6 1/4" in diameter. This jug has 0 cracks, however around the bottom are some minor to insignificant chips. On the rim is a larger chip. Another large beautiful antique stoneware blue salt glaze jug crock pitcher. It is 17" H and 10" D and weighs about 18 lbs. it is also comes from PA. I believe it is 19th century to early 20th century. No markings from the marker but it is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips. Some imperfection on the surface, please review all the photos. A great rare marked piece from Norton& Fenton out of East Bennington. VT. Great condition with the only flaw being a pencil eraser sized clean"punch" hole to the left of the advertising. This is a very clean. Very small hole with no cracks or marks around it whatsoever and really does not detract from the overall display quality of the piece. Dated from the mid to late 1800s.
