Exterior is a beige white color ... moreand the interior is a nice dark brown. On either side of the jug to the right and left of the star there is faint cobalt blue line- I am not sure if ti's just worn off. Error in finishing etc. but it is on each side. There are a couple areas in the pictures where it looks like a hairline crack is present(specifically on the bottom) but I can't feel a line or ridge when I run my fingers over it, and it certainly does not go through the crock so I feel very strongly it is a very solid piece, though the"lines" are there! There is one small chip on the bottom edge(see photos) and the glaze seems just a little pitted in areas- but again all very typical/normal of stoneware I have seen of this age/variety. Antique 4 gallon Primitive Stoneware Moonshine Shoulder Jug Southwest Scene
Up for auction is an Antique 4 gallon Primitive Stoneware Moonshine Shoulder Jug with a Southwest Scene hand painted on it. The hand painting is old but I think it postdates the manufacture of the piece. The hand painting will probably easily rub off with a little mineral spirits if you don't like it. It is in decent shape for its age. A few small surface chips which I have shown in the pictures. No cracks. The typical wear to the surface found on these old jugs. As well as the imperfections caused by the manufacturing process. i 17 inches tall. 10 inches in diameter at the base. Weighs a little over 13 pounds. Several more pictures directly below. KENTUCKY FARM FIND 1/2 GALLON SIZE BOURBON WHISKEY MOONSHINE HAND TURNED GREAT FORM AND FINISH. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE STONEWARE JUG offered as acquired from estate. I discovered this piece a few years back in a barn in Henry County. Kentucky, and am offering it just as found- magnificent old piece with great form. Has subtly defined ribs from turning. Applied handle, and I really like the shape on this one; shoulders do not flare in a pronounced way, so you ... moreget more of a minie ball shape than a beehive. If it was good enough for a moonshiner, it's good enough for me! Jug holds 8 cups(1/2 gallon) of fluid comfortably to shoulders. Or 9 if the guy filling it up really likes you. Stands almost 10 inches tall and is about 5 1/4 inches diameter at base. Condition is difficult to describe with these pieces, as you expect some normal imperfections in the original glaze, and there may be a few original slips in the paint or pinpoint wear, but there are no notable chips, cracks, dings or repairs of any kind. One area around side/base join looks a bit jinxy, but this is obviously the original craftsmanship and not damage. There is one bit of a nick in the handle, but it is under the original paint and glaze. So it's original. Old Stoneware Whiskey Jug Bottle Crock Brown 1 gallon antique Primitive Kitchen
Very nice. Old, stoneware whiskey jug, in a crock style. I believe it is a 1 gallon size. The top is dark brown and the bottom is a lighter beige. I can find no makers mark anywhere. It has a handle. There are no cracks. It does have two small chips as seen in photos. There are wonderful variations in color around the body that highlights the age and handmade look of this great piece. It weighs 5 1/2 pounds. Measures approx: 12" tall, 7" in diameter across the bottom, 22 1/2" around, 1/14" opening spout. It has a"shiny" surface. I think it was meant for liquor but not certain. But there are no markings minus what looks like a letter G stamped in the back. The jug measures about 11" tall and it has a very unusual pinched handle design that I’ve never seen. Really nice piece and in excellent condition with no damage. There is a very shallow chip at the mouth but it might just have been manufactured as such– it looks like it’s always been there. Antique Ford Edward stoneware jug. Measures about 14.5" tall and the base is 8.5" in diameter. Condition is as seen in photos. Two chips around rim(each about 1/2" long) One spot(about 1.5" long) on the bottom rim looks like it may have been repaired. And there are many BB sized chips in the glaze. Particularly on the lower half of the jug, with one larger glaze chip(about 1/2" near the base on the back side.

This auction is for an antique primitive jug with a brown glaze that I would call'Albany slip. There are a few shallow chips around the outside of the mouth. And there is a tiny glaze chip on one side. There is a skinny half inch indentation on the wall on one side that must be from manufacture. There is wear from use and age, especially to the base. No cracks or crazing. It appears to hold a gallon. The jug stands 9 3/4 inches tall, and the base diameter is 5 3/4 inches. I use First Class Mail. Parcel Select Mail, Standard or Media Mail to save on shipping whenever possible, and I combine items for shipment to save on shipping costs when possible.
