Antique Stoneware: ca.1870 NY Beehive Jug w/ Cobalt, AO WHITTEMORE, Havana
A commanding 3Gal. Beehive Jug bearing an impressed. Cobalt-washed stamp that reads: A.O. WHITTEMORE, HAVANA, NY. This is the mark of Albert Whittemore, who operated a stoneware manufactory in Havana Village, just west of Ithaca 1863-1893; the area is now known as Montour Falls. Whittemore Beehives are quite scarce, and this one is very impressive. The brushed Cobalt Floral Is flanked by a pair of freehand"3's" The capacity is also impressed on the shoulder, just above the cobalt decoration. This is an early Whittemore Jug that dates to around 1870. The overall condition is excellent. There are some tight hairlines near the lower right side(see close-up) one travels about 3/4 into the base. There are also some typical imperfections created during manufacture(stack marks, glaze skips and drips, etc) The applied strap handle and ... morespout are nearly flawless- there is one tiny nick on the inside rim. Antique Salt Glazed Stoneware Moonshine/ Whiskey Jug Size: 2 Quart Circa 1800's This Antique Salt Glazed Stoneware Moonshine/ Whiskey Jug is in good conditioon considering it's age! It measures approximately 9 3/4 iinches tall with a 5 1/4 inch base. It's a 2 quart size with glazing inside.and is a grayish.brownish color. It has some small chips on the rim and a chip on the base which measures about 1 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. There is no makers mark.nor is there any moonshine left in it!

Antique Primitive Beehive Stoneware Crock Jug with Bail Handle / Moonshine Jug
This is an antique primitive beehive crock jug that belonged to my Mom. It appears to be very old but does not have any markings on the bottom. The handle is bent. But appears to be the original handle. There are a few spots where the glaze did not stick to the crock when it was glazed. There is a dark spot near the top of the jug. There are also a few chips around the top and bottom edges. The jug is about 10 1/2" tall and 25" around at the widest point. PayPal only please. Antique Stoneware: 19thC. Beehive Jug w/ Bird Beak, 1Gal., Dark Glaze, ca.1860
An exceptional 19thC. American Beehive Jug. Glazed in extra-dark(almost black) Albany Slip, ca.1860. Features an applied strap handle, very-desirable Bird's Beak Spout, and a single incised line around the shoulder. Unmarked, but likely a Southern piece for Molasses or Whiskey. This is a very nice example with beautiful, early form and proportion; 1Gal. capacity. Excellent overall condition. There are a few minor nicks on the spout, two glaze skips on the body(handle left) and a crescent-shape scar that occurred in the making(see close-up) Also, several drips and fingerprints near the base. There is some indecipherable script written on the bottom. No hairlines, cracks or repaired damage. Please see photos for complete details and further description. The Jug is 16" tall and 9 1/2" across the bottom. Nice large 3 gallon jug with Blue markings. Tobacco spit marks included(these marks appear on stoneware before Glazing.Not sure if it is really Tobacco or just a name given to the spots over the years) There is also a fingernail size chip near the spout. The ONE major flaw is obvious,the Handle is broke off. No other flaws. The pics show it well. I will give plenty of protection in packaging. Thanks for looking.

Antique Beehive 8” Tall Stoneware Jug
This small handled jug(half gallon. Possibly) is in very good condition. It has a semi-glossy glaze that covers the side and 1” into the lip interior. Besides minor scuffing, its only from-use blemish is a crack on the lip. During manufacturing, some glaze has dripped to the bare ring at the bottom of the jug. The provenance of the jug cannot be determined as it has no markings. It has a handmade quality in the irregularity of the cylinder and glaze drips along base. I really don't deal with jugs a whole lot. But this one really caught my eye. It really has that beehive shape to it. Especially since the bottom narrows down just like the top does. Most times it is just the top. There are two things that I will mention about it and you can decide for yourself with the pictures. Towards the bottom below the handle is a small dime sized piece that is chipped off a little. It does not go through and is just on the surface. But is there just the same and needs to be mentioned. The other one is on the handle where the thumb is placed. It is a different color than the rest. I am not sure if this was made like this to give the thumb a not so smooth surface for gripping possibly. It looks to have been made like this from the factory because the color closest to the spout bleeds over onto the lighter colored part. Regardless. ANTIQUE LARGE 5 GALLON STONEWARE "BEEHIVE" JUG (0671)
This is a 19 th to very early 20 th CENTURY OVOID SALT GLAZE STONEWARE JUG with COBALT MOTIF. VERY LARGE VINTAGE STONEWARE JUG with the letter“H“ mark. The JUG is called a“BEEHIVE” style and the motif on the front of the jug is supposed to be a bee. It is Pennsylvania-New York Stoneware. 1850-1880, but it could be from several makers. It is likely a batch firing sequence used by the potter, they generally used a letter instead of numbers on limited runs, meaning the piece is hand painted. Stoneware like that is fired to a VERY high temperature(about 2300 degrees F) and about 1720, American potters began producing a form of stoneware developed in many Europe centuries earlier-stoneware glazed with salt and decorated with cobalt blue that is signed“H“ with a Beautiful Symbol painted in Blue. Salt glazed stoneware like this was very common in ... morethe 19 th-Century America and potters produced it all over the country. Sometimes stamping it with their maker’s marks- but most of the time, they did not put on an actual name-like this one. It weighs over 22 pounds and is 20 inches tall, 11 inch base and a 1 ½ inch opening. It is in excellent condition. Antique 5 Gallon Brown Glazed Top Tennessee Stoneware Pottery Whisky Beehive Jug
This is a fantastic antique two-toned brown and natural glazed stoneware whisky jug from Tennessee that is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It is beautiful all over with the rich. Even, shiny, brown glaze on the top and the even natural toned glaze on the bottom that is covered with natural crazing from age(shown in the last photo) giving it a charming vintage look. There is some light scuffing and scratching on the surface, but no other obvious damage. I haven't tried to fill it, but it is the same size as other 5 gallon jugs I have and it is definitely larger than a 3 gallon, so I believe it holds 5 gallons. It measures 11" W x 18" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Antique Glazed Brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug Circa 1880 -Rare small size
Up for sale is a rare size Antique glazed dark brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug circa 1880-1900. This jug measures 6 3/8" tall from the top of the handle to the base. The base measures 5" across. This was meant to be filled for individual daily use. LOL. It was difficult to get the accurate color to reflect in the pictures because of lighting and camera flash but this jug is not 2 toned. It is one solid dark brown. When it was in the kiln it was too close to another jug which is the reason for the area on the side which measures about 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall. There is another spot where the jug must have"dinged" with another by all appearances that happened during the making process. The clip is perfect as is the handle. Awesome really old brown jug with yellow gold firing marks. Has flaws from when it was made. Measures 8 3/4" across base. Has a corncob that looks as old as the jug and another piece rolling around inside of it. Cool piece.
