Antique Stoneware: ca.1870 NY Beehive Jug w/ Cobalt, AO WHITTEMORE, Havana
A commanding 3Gal. Beehive Jug bearing an impressed. Cobalt-washed stamp that reads: A.O. WHITTEMORE, HAVANA, NY. This is the mark of Albert Whittemore, who operated a stoneware manufactory in Havana Village, just west of Ithaca 1863-1893; the area is now known as Montour Falls. Whittemore Beehives are quite scarce, and this one is very impressive. The brushed Cobalt Floral Is flanked by a pair of freehand"3's" The capacity is also impressed on the shoulder, just above the cobalt decoration. This is an early Whittemore Jug that dates to around 1870. The overall condition is excellent. There are some tight hairlines near the lower right side(see close-up) one travels about 3/4 into the base. There are also some typical imperfections created during manufacture(stack marks, glaze skips and drips, etc) The applied strap handle and ... morespout are nearly flawless- there is one tiny nick on the inside rim. Most likely pennsylvania, smaller redware jug has a chip on front of body, handle is in very good condition,some factory roughness around of outside of spout, jug has a very awesome glaze 3/4 of jug has a black like frog spotting. Jug has 2 small chips on bottom, and a couple very tight drying hairlines. Jug has some small drying lines in glaze, I believe surface only, jug is 100% solid. You can feel the small cracks-lines on side. definitely factory) only on one side in 3 areas. Awesome little jug. Measures just under 6 inches high. Larger jug has a darker glaze. In excellent condition, jug has no cracks at all. What looks to be cracks running all over through body, is something done in the making. These can not be felt or seen on the inside. Beautiful stoneware jug with original cork. The bottom is a rich dark brown with a creamy top. I love the shape of the handle with it's swirl effect. There are no makers marks that I can see so I have no idea who the craftsman was. It does show pride of craftsmanship. It measures 8 inches tall and 4 inches wide at the widest point. Awesome Antique Stoneware Brown Jug or Crock!
This is a WONDERFUL! VERY OLD stoneware jug or crock! It has some interesting imperfections. It has a beautiful rich brown glaze on the inside and outside. There are some very minor chips in the underside and edge of the lid. Other than that it is perfect! There are no cracks or damage anywhere else. It is about 8 inches from handle to front and roughly about 6 inches tall. I have no idea how far back this goes in my family. It truly looks like it could have sat in one of their pioneer homes of the 1800s. There is no mark on the bottom. I am setting a reserve of $55 on this. Thanks for bidding!

For sale is a circa early 1900's R.H. MACY'S NEW YORK stoneware jug. The Jug is Brown on the top and White on the bottom. It measures approximately 101/2" in height and 7" in width. The pottery has a glaze finish. There are two small chips at the top portion of the jug opening as well as a small glaze line in the same area. there is also a 2/1/2" brown line which I cannot identify in the white part of the jug. 1800's Antique Salt Glazed Whiskey Jug with turkey droppings
Antique 1800's salt glazed whiskey jug with desirable"turkey droppings" It is in very good shape. No chips at all and only a hairline crack on one side and half way on the bottom. It does not go all the way through. This was found in a old shed that has been untouched for atleast 40 or more years. I don't know the exact year of the jug, it is thought to be the 1800's. No stamps or markings found on the piece.

Buckeye Pottery Company 3 Gallon Antique Stoneware Jug, (late 1800s-early 1900s)
Joseph Pech along with his sons W. J. and Frank established the Buckeye Pottery in Macomb in 1882. Pech. Born in Bohemia on June 15, 1827, apprenticed for 12 years as a potter in Vienna, Austria. Buckeye Pottery was located on Carroll Street. Near the railroad. At the peak of its production. The company employed 20 individuals. The clay came primarily from Macomb County. Wares were marketed to Illinois. Nebraska, Iowa, and other western states. In 1939. Haeger Company purchased Buckeye Pottery and used the pottery to manufacture Haeger floral artware. Offering great antique stoneware jug that has a nice cobalt blue stamp on the front indicating it was made by Buckeye Pottery Company located in Macomb. Illinois. The center says it is the Blue Ribbon Brand, and it is a 3 gallon size. The piece has a cream colored base and then a brown glazed ... moretop with an applied handle. The top portion is unusually short, or stumpy- kind of a neat design. Measures about 15" tall and 10" in diameter. In excellent condition with 2 small chips on the bottom. The jug is decorated with leaves in manganese in a decorated grey square against a cobalt blue background. On top of the jug there is a pewter lid. You are bidding on a vtg/antique Glen Garry Old Highland Whiskey stoneware jug produced by Port Dundas Pottery(Glasgow. Scotland) somewheres between 1878 and when the factory closed in 1930. From the makers mark we are fairly certain this piece dates to about 1901-1919. Around 1920-1930 Port Dundas Pottery begain marking their stoneware with just the words"Made in Scotland" pic 12) Although Port Dundas was in business since 1828, it wasn't until 1878 when they were the first to introduce transfer printing, onto stoneware and advertised they could stamp bottles in color(In this case black) This would have been with a hand held rubber stamp, taken from an etched copper plate. Nice decoration to the ears of jug. Bail handle is in nice condition. Jug stands about 9 3/4" tall and bottom diameter is approximately 6 1/2" Jug may have been made in two pieces. Bottom half was turned and the top half may have been molded, then placed together and glazed.

Antique. Western Stoneware Co. 1 gallon, top pattern Western Shoulder jug. Rare top patterned, No 1 in a maple leaf. Measures 10 1/4 inches tall and the base is 7 inches across. Has a very thin hair line crack on the spout(picture 7) but not bad. There is a mold defect when it was fired, and appears to have caused a glaze bubble which made the hole on top of maple leaf. This not a chip but occured during the firing process. Makes in unique. There is a chip on the bottom of jug which you cannot see when sitting on a surface. Comes from a smoke free home. This jug might have had a lid at one time and might even have been a churn. The jug is in very good condi tion with no c racks or chips. Obviously the pictures are faded all around. But still legible enough to tell what they are. It measures 8.75" tall x 7" across bottom. This item is described as accurately as possible. Antique Stoneware: Rare L. Kendall Ovoid Jug w/ Cobalt, Chelsea, MA, ca.1840, NR
An uncommon 2Gal. Ovoid Jug from Massachusetts. Ca.1840's. This bears The cobalt-washed stamp of Loammi Kendall, who started a small stoneware manufactory around 1836 in Chelsea, just north of Boston. His production numbers were relatively small and his name is rarely mentioned in discussions of early New England potters(L. Watkins, pp.45-46) This appears to be one of Kendall's earlier Ovoids. The form is not perfect, and the top indented- most likely bottom-stacked in the kiln. The upper and lower handle terminals are primitively brushed with vibrant Cobalt, and there is a wonderful hand-carved stopper that sits perfectly in the spout. This piece has typical manufacturing imperfections(clay scars, stack marks, inclusions, etc. but no post-production flaws! Please see photos for further description and details. The handle is in great shape. There is. However, a chip out of the jug lip(see photo) It is quite smooth so it has probably been there for many years. There are a few small chips on the front(see photos) Again, they are smooth and appear quite old. There is a very thin and tight hairline 5" crack at the back of the jug which extends on to base of the jug- about 3" The jug appears quite stable and these imperfections do not distract from its charm and beauty. Offering this unusual Antique Stoneware Flask Shape. 3 flat sides, Crock Jug Foot Warmer from a local Tampa Estate that originated in Pennsylvania. It stands 11 1/2 inches tall and is 6 1/2 inches wide. Much speculation as to its intended use and concluded that it was designed to be used for some type of alcohol beverage storage/ aging, thus the flat sides allowed for rotation. Another sensible answer is the Foot Warmer that had flat sides to keep it from rolling around in bed of buggy or bed at home. It is a beauty with no markings that I can detect. Vintage, 6", Made in the Ozarks, Mountian Dew, Earthenware Jug
This little jug was in a box of my grandparents that I found in the barn the other day. They passed 25+ years ago and it has probably been there since then. My grandparents used to make homemade beverages and they would use old jugs to refill them with the homemade liquid. It is a cute. White, 6" earthenware jug that says, The Ozarks, Mountain Dew, and on the bottom there is a sticker that says, Made in the Ozarks. It is in perfect condition and would be excellant for a collector. It is stamped on the bottom with 23/447. The white figures are of grapes and leaves. Cupids, roman and/or greek goddesses and a tree. It stands 9" tall and is 8" across from lip edge to handle edge. The bottom circumference is 5.5" This pitcher is in mint condition and the inside has been done with a clear glaze while the outside is in a bisque feel. There are no chips, cracks or breaks to this piece. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in asking me.
