PRIMITIVE ANTIQUE~1-GAL. SALT-GLAZED STONEWARE MOONSHINE JUG w/Applied Handle
This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. Miniature milk or water jug/pitcher, Georgia Art, brown, applied handle
This miniature pitcher or milk jug was made by and is marked on the bottom; Georgia Art. I think it would have the word pottery on it. If there was room, but this is just a guess. The glaze on this piece is a shiny dark brown. The handle is nicely applied to the body of the jug. This small piece is just over 2 inches high. I do not know when this piece was made, I have had it for 15 or 20 years. I buy many items from estates, so it could be quite old. I would guess that it is from the mid 1900's. No chips or cracks. No reserve on this neat little item. I'll start it low and see what happens. S&H is $4.00 in the U.S.A. See my other auctions for other neat jugs I will be listing.

HTF Hayner Lock Box 290 Dayton OH 1 Quart Bristol Glazed Jug w/ Applied Handle
My house is filled to overflowing Treasure hunting I'm much enjoying Unfortunately. I am sad to say That if my darling husband has HIS way Out the door it will ALL be going. Up for your consideration is a HTF Bristol-glazed jug from the Hayner Distilling Co. of Dayton. OH. It measures 8-1/4" tall, 4-1/4" at the base, capacity 1 quart. The jug is labeled in blue with an oval outline enclosing text: HAYNER(arched) LOCK BOX 290/ DAYTON.OHIO(reverse arched) and on the opposite side is a cobalt blue marking(1/4" x 1/4"that looks like either a sideways"13" or"18" I can't quite decide which. Jug has an applied handle that measures 3" L. HAYNER DISTILLING CO. operated in Dayton. OH. from 1866-1920. The company was established by Lewis Hayner in 1866. It was he who built the distillery in Troy. ... moreAfter he died in 1892. His nephews William Hayner and C.C. Hayner continued the distillery operations, in partnership with William's brother-in-law, Walter S. Kidder. William is reported to have been in liquor retailing in Waco, TX prior to taking control of Hayner Distilling and is credited with building the company into a national brand through the creation of the mail order empire. The passage of the Webb-Kenyon act in 1913 made it illegal to transport liquor across State lines. The law was designed to prevent mail-order sales to residents of dry states and it had a serious impact on the Hayner operations. Although the distillery did not close until Prohibition took effect in 1920. They were in financial trouble long before that. The Hayner name was not resurrected after Repeal. I find no chips. No cracks, no repairs. There is spot on the jug, directly below the"Hayner" label that appears to be gouged out but it's been glazed over so it occurred during the manufacturing process(see photos 1& 8) I wouldn't call this damage, but wanted to be as accurate in my description as possible. Vintage glass may show characteristics of age. Including allowable bas
