The Wing ... moreon this crock is much larger and brighter than I have seen on many crocks. Beautiful. The crock itself is very clean and in wonderful condition especially for being almost 100 years old. It is dated by the right handle. Patented, Dec. 21st, 1915. There are 2 cracks on the inside bottom that are about 3/4 of an inch long if that. One, a surface scratch and the other is a bit bigger. There is one turkey track on the back. There are some surface cracks around the crock, nothing serious at all. The Salt Glazed Lid has a light#10 on the top of one of the petals. It has some surface cracks on it, again nothing serious. It also has a few turkey tracks. The crock has one 1/2" chip on the bottom edge and the lid has one chip the same size approx. on the round lip underneath the lid. This crock is wonderful. I am maybe being to cautious about the details. It is 16& 1/2"s tall and approx. 16"s wide across the top. I also have a#12 and#8 crock listed. Please pay within 3 Days of the Ending Date of Auction. If you need more time just let me know. I am very flexible. I prefer payment through paypal, however if you need another method of payment let me know and we will see what we can do for you. WHAT A CROCK OF. EXCELLENCY! HERE'S a fine authentic genuine 19th c salt glazed Stoneware Crock to CHEER about. Near as fine collector condition as one likes to find them straight last week fresh plucked out of a one-man thirty year private collection culled locally in his lifetime, for you to reharvest and give new life to once again this brand new Spring 2013 debut listing from Colony Farm Antiques, the hard goods division of Lady Ellens' Fine Ware here on EBay, where we serve reenactors and select collector interests with supreme offerings. The open salt glazed Stoneware Crock is stamped with OTTMAN BRO'S over FORT EDWARD. NY over a compact tight cluster hand slipped blue scroll coil spray dotted leafy floral cluster typical of slip cup decoration(slip is liquid clay) that looks like two google eyes. The decorations sits well ... moremid front to the piece and shows nicely in overall balanced scheme to the viewer, this one had some thought exercised during manufacture as so many other finds are simply routine, unimaginative, and in some cases, downright hurried and sloppy! The molded rim ring is thick, well formed and strong, and left and right ear lug handles are sound, tight, easy grip, deeply formed, and attached firmly no issues. This is a clean nice stoneware example for anyone's proud display collection. Unmarked to capacity, I would say it is best equivalent to just about 1 1/2 gallon size. Condition Report: Very sound. Super clean Stoneware desireable small counter top sized Crock has few if any flaws to note except getting super picky.Two fingernail dents before firing in coil spray area. Two inch cloud shaped darker grey discolor area floating on back. Two half inch similar marks floating left side front. No kiss marks or stone pings. Clean sound bottom with some dirt/blackened surface color. No fry to cobalt, No hairlines. No repairs. Glazed, stoneware shoulder jug with applied handle is approximately 10 1/2" tall and 7" in diameter. It has a bee-hive shape and a dark rich brown color glazing. Its fine condition is observable in its unmarked, un-chipped glaze and sturdy handle. It was given to me corked, and I left it undisturbed. This jug is easily 80 to 100 years old, given the family's Kentucky history. It weighs 5.8 pounds. Antique C Hermann Whiskey Jug Salt Glazed Rust and Brown Tones 1 gallon
This is a wonderful old crockery sipping jug. Although I do not know how anyone could possibly sip from a jug as heavy as this. This weighs almost 10 pounds, you can tell it is a very old jug the minute you lift it. On the jug is the emblem for C. Hermann& Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We looked this company up and they stopped making this kind of jug in 1875 so it cannot be newer than that. It is in remarkable condition with no chips or cracks. This jug is almost 9 inches high and about 6 inches in diameter. The jug has a salt glaze. The red brown color occupies the first 2/3 of the jug and then moves to dark brown to tan. The bottom is unglazed. As I said this is a very heavy item. Careful packaging requires a larger box that will hold substantial packaging material. It has the cobalt blue design with the 3 surrounded by a sunburst or clock design(12 branches) There are droppings as well. We believe this crock is from PA or NY as it came through a family that migrated from north central PA. It measures 8 ¾” in diameter. It stands 12” tall. It is in pretty good shape though there is a crack that runs from the front around to the back side. It was caused from bad storage in a garage. The last time tested. It held water. I did not test it now as I did not want moisture in it for shipment due to the cold temperatures throughout the nation. There is a small glaze nick on the outer side of the lip as shown. It has the cobalt blue design with the 3 and what looks like a butterfly. Dragonfly, or bee. We believe this crock is from PA or NY as it came through a family that migrated from north central PA. It measures 9 ½” in diameter at the top and it flares to 10” on the bottom. It stands 10” tall. It is in near mint shape… there is a chipped area on one of the applied handles and there is a very shallow dip along the inner top rim. Uncertain if the rim issue is a chip or a manufacturing issue. Ballard Stoneware Jug. This is a 2-gallon salt glazed jug that measures about 14" inches tall and 8 1/4" inches across the base. Based on our research. These two Ballard brothers were making stoneware in Burlington, Vermont between 1859 and 1867. The jug is in good overall condition with a few small chips ... morearound the rim and the bottom edge. There is also a 1/4" inch hole drilled in the back near the bottom, and another 1/2" inch drilled hole on the very bottom. We are not sure why this was done. Orrin L, Alfred K, and Hiram N. worked briefly in Burlington before taking over the old Thompson& Co. pottery in Gardiner, Maine in 1854. In Burlington they used the incised mark BALLARD& BROTHERS/BURLINGTON, VT. They operated the Gardiner facility for about a year and produced wares with the incised mark BALLARD& BROTHERS/GARDINER ME. Following this experience the two brothers moved to Portland, Maine, where in 1855 they established a pottery at 100 Green Street. The 1856 Portland directory lists them at that address and describes the as“Manufacturers and Wholesaler Dealers of Stone Ware of every description, which they offer to the trade on the most reasonable terms. Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Jug Dark Brown Salt Glazed Stoneware Wide Mouth!!
Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug This is a rare opportunity to own a very old 3 Gallon salt glazed stoneware handled jug with a wide mouth in a very dark brown. I'm estimating 1800's. But it may be older-look at the pictures and judge for yourself. It has a primitive"3" near the top. No other marks. The top is slightly darker than the bottom. 14-1/2 inches high and has a 9-1/2" diameter. The mouth is almost 4" across. Condition: Very good given it's age. Handle is intact and solid. No chips around the mouth and only minor chips around the top edge of the body. The top has some lighter color in a very few small spots-may be paint drips or an old attempt to touch it up. Regardless, it only adds to the patina of the jug. The bottom has some damage as can be seen from the last 3 photos, ... morebut it appears to be age related. There is the start of a hairline crack near the bottom, but the jug appears to be solid and should be around for a very long time-see last photo. See high resolution photos for more! This is a great old jug and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's home! But there are no markings minus what looks like a letter G stamped in the back. The jug measures about 11" tall and it has a very unusual pinched handle design that I’ve never seen. Really nice piece and in excellent condition with no damage. There is a very shallow chip at the mouth but it might just have been manufactured as such– it looks like it’s always been there. Up for you consideration today I have a large 5 gallon Salt Glazed Crock THIS JUG IS WATERTIGHT NO cracks or breaks two chips one large at the bottom about the size of a nickel or a bit larger one small that was done before firing and it glazed over these can be seen in the last two pictures It was painted with about 30 layers of paint and I used a natural orange stripper to remove the paint you can see remnants of paint chips in some of the pictures they will not be present when it arrives I took the pictures directly after the stripping was finished to show a friend and had not cleaned it completely It took me 2 months to remove all of the paint with the natural stripper and lots of elbow grease it was a labor of love! 1/2 gallon Vintage Salt Glazed Stoneware Beehive Whiskey Jug Crock
Up for bids is this old antique STONEWARE WHISKEY JUG. It is tan color and app 8"tall. It would be considered to be a Beehive Jug due to it's shape. Actually. It is wider at both the top and also the very bottom when compared to the most narrow place. No writing identification on the jug. Just an average old jug in average condition with a few chips in the bottom.

Vintage 2 Gallon Crock/Jug Salt Glazed W/Tulip 13 1/2"x 9" No Reserve
Vintage 2 gallon jug with I believe the salt glazed. Its approx. 13 1/2"x 9" brown or tan in color with the tulip& number 2 in blue. I'm not sure if its a tulip or not but from the ones on ebays that would be the closes to what it looks like. It has a couple tiny chips on the top edge and 1 on the side. I've showed these in my photo's. Its unmarked except for the flower& number 2. I've tried to show everything in my photo's. Buyer to pay for shipping unpacked its over 10 pounds so shipping will be for 14 pounds plus the cost of insurance(optional) I always combine shipping. The jug is solid and heavy. But it has the following age-related flaws, shown in the photos. There is a chip along the outside top rim(mouth) There is a hairline crack to the left of the cobalt design. There are several places that have flaws in the glaze. 2 Gallon Antique Brown Salt Glazed Ceramic & Porcelian Beehive Jug Americana
This is a 2 gallon brown whiskey jug that is in good condition. I would rate it a B+. I could not find a maker's mark. There are a few minor nicks(shown in pictures) One on the mouth of jug and the other on the handle. The other spots have come from the finish on the jug during the firing process. It has a beautiful finish of brownish green and mold lines that make the beehive appearance. It is 11" tall and 9" wide. There is and indentation at the point where the handle was attached to the jug. The bottom has some glaze that is swirled. Probably from where it was turned during the firing process.
