The flower ... moredesign is a very dark cobalt blue. Each side has an applied elephant ear handle. Circa: 1859- 1885. Fort Edward. NY) Measurements: 11 1/4" tall. 11 1/2" in diameter at the top. Base 11" in diameter. Floral decoration is about 5" wide X 6" tall. The blue floral decoration has dots and circles. Condition: This crock is being sold AS IS. This is a solid crock but it has issues. Large Blue decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color but has a chip at the top branch. Shown in picture 2. There is a large chip at the rim above the ear handle, picture 8. The same ear handle has a chip underneath the handle, shown in the same picture. On the outside, there is a spider hairline that starts on the bottom and runs up the side, see close-up picture in picture 5, 10& 11. I would not trust this crock to hold water. There is one small chip in the dark brown glaze on the inside, last picture. Picture 5 shows a raised dark spot on the outside which appears to be from the manufacturing process. See all pictures. The large blue flower decoration has excellent dark cobalt blue color. This collectible crock is great to use in a decorative decor. Please check out my other auctions for more vintage items.

A Cobalt Decorated Stoneware Jug or Bottle. Now let me say, I am not a collector of Stoneware. I did however try to research this jug. I must have looked at Thousands of pieces of Stoneware, putting in every keyword I could think of for this type of slip or glaze, and could find nothing like it. I will welcome any idea's from a collector! I do not know it's exact age. It may be vintage, Antique, but it is not marked, like most modern pieces. It is quite beautiful. Antique C Hermann Whiskey Jug Salt Glazed Rust and Brown Tones 1 gallon
This is a wonderful old crockery sipping jug. Although I do not know how anyone could possibly sip from a jug as heavy as this. This weighs almost 10 pounds, you can tell it is a very old jug the minute you lift it. On the jug is the emblem for C. Hermann& Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. We looked this company up and they stopped making this kind of jug in 1875 so it cannot be newer than that. It is in remarkable condition with no chips or cracks. This jug is almost 9 inches high and about 6 inches in diameter. The jug has a salt glaze. The red brown color occupies the first 2/3 of the jug and then moves to dark brown to tan. The bottom is unglazed. As I said this is a very heavy item. Careful packaging requires a larger box that will hold substantial packaging material. Rare Antique 1800's 3 Gallon Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug This is a rare opportunity to own a very old 3 Gallon salt glazed stoneware handled jug with a wide mouth in a very dark brown. I'm estimating 1800's. But it may be older-look at the pictures and judge for yourself. It has a primitive"3" near the top. No other marks. The top is slightly darker than the bottom. 14-1/2 inches high and has a 9-1/2" diameter. The mouth is almost 4" across. Condition: Very good given it's age. Handle is intact and solid. No chips around the mouth and only minor chips around the top edge of the body. The top has some lighter color in a very few small spots-may be paint drips or an old attempt to touch it up. Regardless, it only adds to the patina of the jug. The bottom has some damage as can be seen from the last 3 photos, ... morebut it appears to be age related. There is the start of a hairline crack near the bottom, but the jug appears to be solid and should be around for a very long time-see last photo. See high resolution photos for more! HERE IS A RARER SMALLER I SAY HALF GALLON JUG THAT IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS. THE BOTTOM HAS A FEW DINGS AND THIS IS TO BE EXPECTED WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OVER THE YEARS, THE SMALLER JUGS WOULD HAVE BEEN USED IN THE HOUSE WHERE THE GALLON ONES OR LARGER WERE USED FOR STORAGE. THE JUG IS IN A BEEHIVE SHAPE WITH FLAT HANDLE FROM THE TOP OF OPENING TO THE TOP OF JUG. IT STANDS ABOUT 7" TALL AND IS 6' ACROSS.THERE'S A FEW RUB MARKS AND A FEW CHIPS ON THE BOTTOM LIKE I SAID SO PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURES FOR A DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. Pair of Brown antique salt glazed ceramic jug lamps, mid century, retro

2 Gallon Antique Brown Salt Glazed Ceramic & Porcelian Beehive Jug Americana
This is a 2 gallon brown whiskey jug that is in good condition. I would rate it a B+. I could not find a maker's mark. There are a few minor nicks(shown in pictures) One on the mouth of jug and the other on the handle. The other spots have come from the finish on the jug during the firing process. It has a beautiful finish of brownish green and mold lines that make the beehive appearance. It is 11" tall and 9" wide. There is and indentation at the point where the handle was attached to the jug. The bottom has some glaze that is swirled. Probably from where it was turned during the firing process.
