Antique Rare Two Handled Salt Glazed Water Jug Circa 1800's
Very Rare 1800's Two Handled Salt Glazed Water Jug It stands 9" tall and 6.5" wide. From handle to handle. Around the middle(belly) it measures 18" The clay looks like the clay that was used on the eastern coast in the 1800's. The clay on the east coast is much lighter clay then other parts of the US. The jug is hand thrown piece. They would have put this on a pottery wheel then turned it to produce this look, and instead of cutting the part off that help support it on the wheel, they left it there, finished it off used it as a foot. I am not quite sure the purpose of that, it seems to me a smoother bottom would have been easier, unless they had fashioned a carrier that the bottle sat down in that size. Some of the heavy glaze is worn off. Mostly on the one side. A very unusal& striking piece of pottery. It Displays ... morebeautiful. Thank you for looking. Please

A beautiful English Mason’s IRONSTONE PITCHER / JUG, Circa 1830
rhusrluk rhusrluk Antique pottery in good taste– harmic.little A fine quality English ironstone hexagonal pitcher painted in the Imari palette of cobalt blue. Iron-red, orange and green; the base impressed Mason's Patent Ironstone. Staffordshire, circa 1830- 1840. Please see images below- A NO RESERVE AUCTION! Ironstone' so called was a sort of superior. Dense earthenware which appeared in quantity the 1830s and which, on account of its hardness and durability was superb for kitchen and dining wares. The exotic colors and decoration also caught the public taste for things both Japanese and Chinese and personified the appeal of the mysterious Orient. This beautiful jug is 6 ⅜ inches in height. It perfectly epitomizes the combination of Eastern and Western influences with its very English hexagonal shape. Its exotic scaly handle and ... morestriking palette of cobalt blue, orange, red and green(see the detailed photographs below) It is robustly potted and was clearly intended to last for a very long time in a working environment. This jug has sustained a long life but not without some problems. There is a faint hairline crack(about 1 ¾ inches in length) running down one side of the spout. There is a repair on the inside associated with this crack. Also. Near the back to the left of the handle is another repair, probably a chunk broken out, glued back, and repainted. This is a magnificent collector's or display item if you collect Mason's ironstone or desirable if you want a striking display piece for your mantel or kitchen table. Thank you for bidding on this ironstone jug and good luck! No Reserve! Absolutely guaranteed authentic. Insurance is included with shipping. EARLY ANTIQUE CIRCA 17TH/18TH CENTURY SALT GLAZED STONEWARE ONE-HANDLED JUG
This early antique salt-glazed stoneware one-handled jug is circa 17th/18th century. Salt glaze pottery is stoneware with a glaze of glossy. Translucent, and slightly orange-peel texture, which was formed by throwing common salt into the kiln during the higher temperature part of the firing process. This primitive jug has a beautiful early pear-shaped form. And a nice mottled natural/yellowish color. The jug measures ~8 3/8" tall x 2" diameter at the base. Considering its age. The jug is in good condition overall. There are a couple of small chips at the neck, and a hairline crack, but no major repairs or restoration that I can see. The blemish in the front of the jug was possibly formed during the firing process, from maybe touching another jug. The form. Color, and surface are great. This jug shows good honest wear from years ... moreof use, and has nice character. Thanks for looking, and any shipping cost overcharge will be promptly refunded.

The piece stands 19 1/2" tall, with an 11" diameter across the bottom. It comes with a cork, but I can't claim that it's original. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE CIRCA 18TH/19TH CENTURY SALT-GLAZED STONEWARE ONE-HANDLED JUG
This antique primitive salt-glazed stoneware one-handled jug is circa 18th/19th century. The form is pleasing. With nice line detailing around the neck, and it has a molded handle. The color is a wonderful tan with a mottled glaze. The jug measures ~6 1/4" tall x 4" wide across the widest part. It has a 2 1/4" base and a 1 3/8" mouth. Overall. The jug is in good condition. There is a couple of small chips around the perimeter of the base, but nothing major. The jug is almost 7.5 inches tall, 6 inches at its widest point, and is marked on the bottom with a raised cartouche impressed with COPELAND over a number that appears to be 18. On page 73 of the book A Collector's Guide to Nineteenth-Century Jugs there is a picture and description of a smaller version of this jug which is marked with a number 19. The jug is almost translucent, very visually interesting, displays well, and is in very good condition with only relatively minor flaws. There is a hairline which runs across the bottom and part way up one side, and a couple of other very short hairlines on the side of the handle and rear of the rim, but these ... moredo not detract from the look of this nice old piece(see the close up pictures) We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will be charged at cost. Payment must be made by Paypal within three days of the auction ending. Be sure to check out our other current and upcoming auctions of hundreds of antique and vintage objects in glass. Pottery, porcelain, silver, etc.

Antique Glazed Brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug Circa 1880 -Rare small size
Up for sale is a rare size Antique glazed dark brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug circa 1880-1900. This jug measures 6 3/8" tall from the top of the handle to the base. The base measures 5" across. This was meant to be filled for individual daily use. LOL. It was difficult to get the accurate color to reflect in the pictures because of lighting and camera flash but this jug is not 2 toned. It is one solid dark brown. When it was in the kiln it was too close to another jug which is the reason for the area on the side which measures about 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall. There is another spot where the jug must have"dinged" with another by all appearances that happened during the making process. The clip is perfect as is the handle. This will be carefully bubble-wrapped and shipped with Styrofoam peanuts surrounding ... moreit for safe delivery to its new home. Good luck and thanks for your interest.

Elly Burdett Je suis Charlie En memoriam à nos collègues les artistes. Journalistes et rédacteurs; 7 janvier 2015 German Bellarmine stoneware flagons& jugs are one of the most distinctive and sought-after types of early Continental ceramics. I’ve been a fan of them for decades. And due to my increasing level of contact with German collectors& dealers, have acquired twenty five in the past year, along with numerous other pieces of German lighting, metalwork, stoneware& pottery, mostly dating from 1500 to 1780. The fact that many pieces with major kiln defects made it out of the factory was both a sign of the times, and in the case of decorated examples, of the high demand for“face jugs” I have recently purchased English collector Alex Wright’s 2-volume survey of Bellarmines& other German stoneware from his collection(pub. 2009& 2011) And se
