Antique Rye Jug Ceramic Pottery Buchan Scotland Marked and Numbered
Vintage rye ceramic pottery jug made by Buchan. Portobello, Scotland. Stamped on bottom and numbered 6/26 A. I am not really familiar with the brand. I just know it has been in my family for(guessing) at least 75 years. I can't find.another one like it, so I don't know what else to say about it. The bottom is ivory and the top is pink. Unfortunately, when I went to lift it by the handle, it broke off. As you can see, if you glue it back on, it looks fine. Otherwise this very old jug is in fine vintage condition. If you look closely, you can see the rings from the potters wheel. Very heavy. 8" high x 4 1/2" wide where the handle is.

Bottom Marked 1 Gal. Stoneware Cone Top Jug by Buckeye Pottery Macomb, Illinois
For your consideration is a one gallon cone top shoulder jug. Made of stoneware. Debossed into the bottom it says: THE BUCKEYE POTTERY CO MACOMB ILL The writing is glazed over, but I could see 0 punctuation. This company existed 1882-1941. I assume this jug was one of the first pieces this company manufactured that had white glaze, because the turkey eye dripping leads me to believe it was fired right after salt glazed items were fired. The height is almost 10 1/2" and the bottom is approximately 7" in diameter. There are 0 cracks, however there is a very minor(probably insignificant) chip.

Large Toby Jug / Pitcher w/Handle, 8 1/4" Tall Bottom Marked with R in triangle
You are bidding on a large Toby type Jug or Pitcher of a guy that is not very good looking-ugly facial expression. He is holding what appears to be a pitcher in one hand and a glass in the other and is sitting in a high back chair. It is in good condition with the exception of a couple of places where they missed the glazing during the manufacture-does not detract from the item-in fact I hardly noticed them. It is 8 1/4" high. Colors are predominately browns. Tans and greens. Bottom is marked with an R within a triangle or diamond shape and a"quarter moon" next to that mark. Never seen one like this before. Very unusual and is heavy. Weighs over 2-1/2 lbs. without any shipping materials. Shown in pictures. RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*4a24%60%3C%3E-14484de61b4-0x101-

6" Pint? Stoneware Jug Marked USA Whiskey Wine Micro-Brew Marbles Money Storage
Tp point out an errorhat most sellers feel. Nothing marked USA is determined from that mark, only by exact side-by-side comparrisons can one be associated with an exact company.from oldantiquepottery dot info USA Pottery Mark Some Information If you are familiar at all with pottery. You will notice a large number of pieces that are marked with only"USA" There is not a USA Pottery Company that produced these wares. For a sufficient explanation of why pieces are marked like this. Lets start in the 1800's. Back then, most pottery was created to be used in everyday life by an individual that probably lived near you. The makers rarely marked these pieces because beyond their usefulness, the items weren't much to look at. imagine an old, brown stoneware crock) As pottery techniques matured around the turn of the century, many ... morelarger potteries were formed. think industrialization) Many produced artistic works that the creator would want recognition for his efforts. Anyway, every company had their own rules about marking their wares. Marks would sometimes include company name, logo/ symbol, an artist signature, mold number, initials, country, state, city, what they had for lunch, etc. etc. Many companies would include no mark at all. Or, they opted for a simple paper/ foil sticker instead. The stickers rarely stayed on the pieces long, and they'd wind up unmarked. Around the time of WW I, many businesses felt a patriotic need to include USA on their goods. This may have been also due to their exporting items overseas. Later on around WWII(I think? the US government passed a law that all imported goods had to be marked with their country of origin. Some American companies saw this and decided that they no longer needed to include USA mark, because the imports would be stamped"Japan" China" or whatever and people would know an unmarked piece was made here. Other companies continued to use the USA mark. Others continued to use it, on some types of pottery. Other businesses decided to use

Antique Stoneware Jug- Blue Flower- Engraved/Marked F
First off thank you for viewing my item. I would like to apologize ahead of time for my lack of knowledge about this piece- I am not very knowledgeable in the area of stoneware crocks/jugs. This is an estate cleanout item and it appeared to have some age so I held onto it.Anyways I have tried to take many quality photos to best accurately describe what we have here and the overall condition. Here's what I do know. The jug measures approx. 10 1/4' tall and is just over 7' in diameter at the bottom. There is an"F" engrave at the bottom of jug just under blue floral design. There are 3"roundish" areas at the top rounded edges of the jug where it has lost its sheen and is more dull with what looks to be rust stain or tarnish. I'm guessing this was sitting on something or rubbing on something in these areas.you ... moreshould be able to see what I'm trying to describe in the photos. There are no cracks I can see and only a few small chips around the base. Handle and spout both look VERY nice- not chipped at all. Please feel free to ask any questions if I may have left something out.

It weighs 13 ounces. I purchased this miniature jug at an Estate Sale and I don't know how old it is but it does look like it has some age to it. It looks like there is a cork stuck inside the jug along with some small pieces of paper/foil. I don't see any chips or cracks and I can see a little bit of crazing near the bottom. The lower part of the jug looks ... morelike a tan color and the upper area is a dark brown color. The tan color looks like it has some swirls of lighter tan colors. I lightly cleaned the jug with a little bit of water on a cloth. It does look like it could use a good cleaning. MUST SEE NM "OLD TIME" STONEWARE JUG W/ CORK, UNK YEAR/MAKER, MARKED A7 @ HANDLE
I AM SELL THIS BEAUTIFUL STONEWARE CROCK JUG. I don't know much about this beautiful near mint crock jug with cork. There are some very minor chipping around the edge. Where the beige meets the brown. I am not knowledgeable in crock ware, but I know that there are collectors looking for good pieces for their collection. I think this will make a great addition to anyone's crock ware collection! The only markings I found are an A7 located by the ring handle. I don't know if this is really old or a reproduction. If it is really valuable or not. I am sorry if I offend anyone with me writing in"Hillbilly" under the style, I didn't mean it to be hurtful. I see an old stoneware crock whiskey jug, I think of"Granny Clampit" from the Beverly Hillbillies TV show. It weighs approximately 6 pounds and measures approximately: ... more11.25"12" with cork) tall x 7" diameter(across the bottom) I am including estimated package size and weight. Large marked Davenport hunt jug from the early 1800s (stapled handle)
We are listing this very large antique Davenport hunt jug- it is 7 inches tall and a whopping 10 inches at its widest point. It has the Davenport name over an anchor symbol impressed on the bottom. Indicating it was made in the early 1800s. It is difficult to find these large old hunt jugs and it is a striking display piece, with its well-sprigged hunt scenes and acorns& leaves border. However, note that it is discolored on the inside and the base, and there are two cracks on the handle(which is stable) One of the repairs was done in the early 1800s, since it employs two metal staples(the high-tech repair method of that period) See the close-up pictures for details. We can currently only accept bids on this from the United States. The United Kingdom, and Canada. Shipping to the United Kingdom and Canada will be charged at cost. Payment ... moremust be made by Paypal within three days of the auction ending. Be sure to check out our other current and upcoming auctions of hundreds of antique and vintage objects in glass.
