vintage stoneware wine jug, with handle and cork aged decor
This is a heavy classic stoneware wine jug it is believed to be from around the 1920's since it was my girlfriends grandmothers she got when she was in her early 20's and she currently is 93. It weighs a lone 6.83 pounds and has a glazed finished as you can see. There are marks as I have shown and that helps with the description. The age marks has not effected the integrity of this item at all. I just want this item to go to a good home and with someone who might have more information on this and can appreciate it. Nifty Mini Jug! Here is a very neat old slice of Americana. This truly a"Little Brown Jug" The small. Sturdy piece is about 3" diameter, 6" high, with a small handle& a 1/2" opening- probably holds around 10 oz. To give you an idea of its density, this small item weighs over a pound. It has a two-tone brown motif, with the dark brown limited to about the upper 1" of the jug. not quite to the shoulder. So far as I can tell, no maker markings, or writing whatsoever on this piece. We have for your consideration a 19th century antique Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug with a Cobalt Blue Double Wheat decor. This 3 gallon single handled jug is in an ovoid shape. The jug is solid and heavy. But it has the following age-related flaws, shown in the photos. There is a chip along the outside top rim(mouth) There is a hairline crack to the left of the cobalt design. There are several places that have flaws in the glaze. Due to the locations of the flaws they do not greatly affect the visual display of the jug. The jug measures 15 inches in height x 10 inches at its widest.
