Glazed, stoneware shoulder jug with applied slip handle is approximately 9 1/2" tall and 7" in diameter. It has a bee-hive shape and a dark rich brown color glaze that is iridescent in some light. It is very good condition given its age and likely use. There is a chip at its base(see photo) that is nearly unobservable given the color of the stoneware. The jug is sound and un-cracked, despite its chip. This jug is easily 80 to 100 years old, given the family's Kentucky history. It weighs 6.2 pounds. Large Brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Whiskey Storage Jug
Up for auction I have a nice old stoneware jug. I do not know if this is considered a 2 or three gallon jug. The jug is 13-1/4 inches tall. 9 inches across and weighs 10 pounds. There is one bad chip in the side, near the base as shown in the pictures, and there are 2 more I did not really get in the pictures but they are only a fifth of the size and the rest is just the minor roughage you would expect to see. The handle and spout are in good shape. The lighter colors you see around the spout and handle is where the jug was not fully glazed. There are some light spots near the base also. Vintage Brown Beehive 9.5" Stoneware Jug with Intact Handle & Cork
This is a vintage(or antique. Age unknown) beehive stoneware jug with an Albany Slip style glaze. The handle of the jug is still intact and it appears to have the original cork(see top view photo) or at least one with notable age to it. There are several larger chips on the lower portion of the jug(see side view photos) and other smaller chips as well. The jug measures 8" tall to the bottom of the handle and 8" across the bottom of the jug. It stands 9.5" to the top of the cork. We believe this to be a 1 gallon jug based on the dimensions. There are a couple of incised marks on the bottom but they do not appear to be lettering of any kind so the maker is unknown. My knowledge of this item is limited and I have described this piece to the best of my ability. Antique Hand-Made Ceramic Jug This is a very old hand'spun' piece of domestic pottery. There is nothing fancy about it at all. There are some inclusions in the pottery. Under the glaze but that is very common with the older, home'spun' pieces. They didn't make them to be pretty-they made them to be functional. Check out the image of the bottom of the pitcher. This is an unusual whiskey/moonshine jug with the wire and wood handle. It is about 9 1/2" to top of jug and is almost 7" across the bottom. This is an old jug and the wire handles are bent. The chip on the top is just glaze deep and the one on the bottom is not bad. Considering the life these had it is a wonder they survived. Not sure how much it holds. Maybe 2 gals or less. Antique 5 Gallon Brown Glazed Top Tennessee Stoneware Pottery Whisky Beehive Jug
This is a fantastic antique two-toned brown and natural glazed stoneware whisky jug from Tennessee that is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It is beautiful all over with the rich. Even, shiny, brown glaze on the top and the even natural toned glaze on the bottom that is covered with natural crazing from age(shown in the last photo) giving it a charming vintage look. There is some light scuffing and scratching on the surface, but no other obvious damage. I haven't tried to fill it, but it is the same size as other 5 gallon jugs I have and it is definitely larger than a 3 gallon, so I believe it holds 5 gallons. It measures 11" W x 18" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Vintage Brown Glaze WHISKEY JUG In Beehive Style With Corn Cob Stopper
This stoneware crock jug is the type you see in some old movies holding moonshine/whiskey. This one even has a corn cob stopper. The handle has been glued and the jug definitely shows wear from age and use. It measures 7" high without the corn cob stopper x 6 1/2" across and weighs 3.10 pounds. This is a perfect over the shoulder whiskey jug/crock. There is some discoloration in the glaze on the handle like the bottom. Very nice jug great for collector or to make that extra pop in your décor! I find no chips or cracks in this jug/crock.

Vintage 1 GALLON Handle JUG Brown Glaze Pottery Moonshine Crock Beehive
My parents bought this jug at a rural farm estate sale decades ago. I measured myself and it held approx. one gallon plus two cups of water. No leaks. It stands approx. 9.5" tall, with a 7.5" diameter at the base. I believe the shape is known as"beehive" but I'm not sure.I am NOT an expert on this sort of item! I have examined it carefully and can find no damage other than that associated with many years of normal use. As you can see in the pictures, the bottom surface is quite rubbed, and the underside of the handle is missing the glazed surface. But I see NO cracks and actual chips; there are places where the surface is uneven but I think that was part of the hand made process. There are also small surface bubbles. No maker marks that I can see. I will package carefully with lots of wrapping and foam noodles. Shipping ... morewill be via USPS with tracking and insurance. After listing. I saw the cost of Priority shipping outside my postal zone and it is very expensive! I am now adding a standard shipping option, which will also include tracking and insurance.

Antique Glazed Brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug Circa 1880 -Rare small size
Up for sale is a rare size Antique glazed dark brown Stoneware Beehive Moonshine Jug circa 1880-1900. This jug measures 6 3/8" tall from the top of the handle to the base. The base measures 5" across. This was meant to be filled for individual daily use. LOL. It was difficult to get the accurate color to reflect in the pictures because of lighting and camera flash but this jug is not 2 toned. It is one solid dark brown. When it was in the kiln it was too close to another jug which is the reason for the area on the side which measures about 1 1/4" wide and 1" tall. There is another spot where the jug must have"dinged" with another by all appearances that happened during the making process. The clip is perfect as is the handle. This listing is for one Large Antique Brown Glazed Hand Thrown Stoneware Jug with pouring Spout. It is unmarked and of unknown age. This jug is large and heavy- 8" diameter. 9-1/4" tall, it weighs 6 pounds. The handle is large and solid and looks a little crooked- not quite square to the body of the jug. I don't know if this is intentional or not. Looks great in any case. In addition to some normal small(1/8" rim chips this jug has suffered a quarter-sized chip/flake at the rim. This has been glued back in place at some point. A nice heavy. Old jug which displays very nicely despite its defects. Vintage Old Brown Glazed Stoneware Beehive Jug or Whiskey/Moonshine Jug. Believe this is either a 1-1/2 gallon or 2 gallon jug. Jug is approximately 12" tall to top of spout. Base is 9-1/2" in diameter. This weighs over 9-1/2 lb before any packaging. This was a gift from a friend& has been in my collection since the early 80's, hate to part with this one but time has come. Need to downsize some of my"dust-ables" Think this is in overall nice condition considering age, has some imperfections, tiny dots of missing finish& a few larger places. There are some blemishes such as a few very small chips on the bottom edge, a wear mark on the left side of the handle, and a chip in the glaze about the size of a nickle towards the top. But I see others that look like this also that are not Redwing. So I will not say for certain if it is or not. No Chips or Cracks. a little touch of glazing on the handle is flawed, which gives it the unique touch each Antique piece of stoneware carries. HERE IS A RARER SMALLER I SAY HALF GALLON JUG THAT IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO CRACKS. THE BOTTOM HAS A FEW DINGS AND THIS IS TO BE EXPECTED WITH NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OVER THE YEARS, THE SMALLER JUGS WOULD HAVE BEEN USED IN THE HOUSE WHERE THE GALLON ONES OR LARGER WERE USED FOR STORAGE. THE JUG IS IN A BEEHIVE SHAPE WITH FLAT HANDLE FROM THE TOP OF OPENING TO THE TOP OF JUG.
