Presented for your consideration is this gorgeous Austrian porcelain pedestal ewer. It was made in the Turn Wien factory of Ernst Wahliss in the late 19th or early 20th century. The design is reminiscent of some of the fine Royal Worcester pieces of the same era. This exceptional ewer has an ornate mold with a great eagle's head spout. It is decorated with a handpainted floral design accented with rich gold enamel on a mottled green ground. The ewer is 7 1/2" high. About 4 1/4" at the widest point and 2 3/4" at the base. Antique Ohio Valley salt glazed stoneware wide mouth jug
This salt glazed jug appears to have been hand thrown and kiln fired. It is slightly misshaped with one side being a little flat as though it was laid on its side while the clay was still wet. It was found in a Southern Ohio homestead near Zanesville. Ohio. The jug stands 10.75 inches and is about 21 inches around. The grey toned salt glaze has an orange peel texture, the handle is hand applied. There are imperfections in the glaze, due to the primitive process, used as shown in the pictures, but no cracking. The clay exposed on the unglazed bottom is a pale pink color. There is some minor chipping around the top-please take a look at the pictures. This jug is a true piece of early Americana.

Probably made originally as a presentation piece at a local tavern. It stands 8-3/4” tall, 6-1/2” wide at widest point. Transfer printed in black with hand-painted brilliant high enamel color palette and gilt rims. It was made by the Staffordshire England ironstone firm of Elsmore and Foster. Clayhills Pottery, Tunstall, which operated between 1853 and 1871. These puzzle jugs and related barware accessories were wildly popular in pubs and gambling establishments. This puzzle jug has a hole in the handle connected through an inner tube to a hole in the bottom. The unsuspecting drinker who picks up the jug without blocking the ... morehold in the handle will be surprised when the ale pours out of the bottom of their pitcher! Elsmore and Forster produced various examples of them. All decorated with engraved images relating to animals and popular entertainment, possibly used to publicize and advertise clowning events. Clown images printed on jugs are uncommon. The jug was decorated using old theatrical and chap book engravings which they transfer printed in different combinations on various-sized jugs. Loving cups and mugs. It features two full-length colorful engravings of the famous clown Joseph Grimaldi who set the gold standard in harlequinade pantomime. The front of the jug also features a three-scene comic-strip engraving of a cock fight, with the roosters in various stages of chaos. Ruckels Ceramic 2 Gallon Jug A.D. Ruckels started producing high quality pottery in White Hall. Illinois in the last half of the 1800's, White Hall was known for its outstanding clay and Ruckels for some of the era's finest quality. Today. The jugs are especially collectible. This jug is truly an antique being over a hundred years old and is in very good condition given its age. It does have a crack about half way around the base and a hole less than the size of a pencil eraser on its side. I have detailed these age signs in the photos so look closely. If you want to use this jug for liquids it is probably not for you. On the other hand. If it is for display and the pure joy of just looking at such a wonderful old reminder of our heritage. This is a set of 2"Löwenbräu Munich" Steins made in Germany. They were acquired at a local auction. They each hold a ½ liter. I photographed different parts of the steins so you can see as much as possible. There is no visible major damage. I see cracks on both steins. But they seem to have occured before the glaze was put on. One stein measures approximately 4½" high x 5 3/4" wide(including the handle) the opening measures approximately 2 3/4" I am NOT an expert. For sale is an antique handmade water jug. In excellent condition. There is a stamp on the top handle that reads"Malasa" which is an area in India. This very unique East Indian piece has a spout, a raise up hole for ventilation and a big circular handle at the top, presumably for inserting a pole for easy carrying. Jug is approximately 13" tall by 8.5" wide. There is a mark on the vase that reads"Ming, which was probably put on there afterwards, looks to be written in pencil. Antique Rare Two Handled Salt Glazed Water Jug Circa 1800's
Very Rare 1800's Two Handled Salt Glazed Water Jug It stands 9" tall and 6.5" wide. From handle to handle. Around the middle(belly) it measures 18" The clay looks like the clay that was used on the eastern coast in the 1800's. The clay on the east coast is much lighter clay then other parts of the US. The jug is hand thrown piece. They would have put this on a pottery wheel then turned it to produce this look, and instead of cutting the part off that help support it on the wheel, they left it there, finished it off used it as a foot. I am not quite sure the purpose of that, it seems to me a smoother bottom would have been easier, unless they had fashioned a carrier that the bottle sat down in that size. For your consideration is a two gallon stoneware jug. This jug is the beehive style with a slightly ovoid shape and the glaze has more than one color. This jug was made in such a way that part of the handle is above the opening. This jug has a maximum height of approximately 11 1/2" and the bottom is almost 9 3/8" in diameter. The yellows and browns are the different colors in the glaze. However the dark red was made by me where I colored glaze peeling, glaze flaking and other imperfections with a permanent felt tip marker; I can't criticize myself for the coloring, because it does look better. Authentic Antique Sarreguemines French Majolica Jug & Pitcher
You are looking at 2 authentic Sarreguemines majolica pieces: One pitcher and one jug. The impressed marks"Sarreguemines" and the numbers"3181" date these pieces circa 1881. Many times the Sarreguemines pieces have several impressed numbers. The impressed version was in use until circa 1900. The company used the printed mark after 1900. Approximate measurements: Pitcher: 8 1/2" tall 6 1/2" from spout to handle 4" base diameter weighs about 2.5 lbs Jug 7" tall 6" from spout to handle 3 1/2" base diameter weighs about 1.5 lbs. These pieces are in superb condition all around. Clean, very shiny, no chips or cracks. They were both purchased in Paris. SMALL HAND PAINTED ART DECO JUG C. 1930`s FROM HUGHES LONGPORT This pretty little jug typifies the style and colors of the Art Deco period. Bright Orange squares with gold lines on a white background has gol d to finish around the rim and to decorate the handle. It stands 9 cms high. The spout is 4 cms long and from the tip to the back of the jug 7 cms. The top is 5 cms wide and the handle is 4 x 8 cms. The base is 6cms square. It is in very good condition. With just a tiny bit of the orange paint chipped off the corner of one of the squares(Pic.3) and it also has a minute chip on the left side of the back and on the side of the handle, but both too small to enable me to photograph it. Iron-red, orange and green; the base impressed Mason's Patent Ironstone. Staffordshire, circa 1830- 1840. Please see images below- A NO RESERVE AUCTION! Ironstone' so called was a sort of superior. Dense earthenware which appeared in quantity the 1830s and which, on account of its hardness and durability was superb for kitchen and dining wares. The exotic colors and decoration also caught the public taste for things both Japanese and Chinese and personified the appeal of the mysterious Orient. This beautiful jug is 6 ⅜ inches in height. It perfectly epitomizes the combination of Eastern and Western influences with its very English hexagonal shape. This jug has sustained a long life but not without some problems. There is a faint hairline crack(about 1 ¾ inches in length) running down one side of the spout. There is a repair on the inside associated with this crack. Also. Near the back to the left of the handle is another repair, probably a chunk broken out, glued back, and repainted. A couple of chips along the bottom edge, and one hairline crack along one edge that doesn't go around the bottom or up into the glazed area. We are very proud to present this spectacular 1820s to 1840s original English yellow ware richly enameled and glazed rear handle matron with both hands in her pockets Toby jug. We have looked& looked. But cannot find an exact match after over 1,000 images studied! We do know that the facial characteristics and flat eccentric hand finished base, as well as the period Rockingham deep brown style glaze, all indicate the pre to early Victorian period. Another dating fact is that the early 1780s to ca. 1800 examples in Cream, Pearl& Prattware(William Pratt) plus pieces by such English giants as Ralph& Enoch Wood, Thomas Hollins, as well as the famed potters Astbury, and Wheildon, working primarily in Staffordshire& Leeds, virtually all produced Tobys ... morewith square or rectangular base plinths. Our Rare Toby is obviously a flush bottom, but definitely predates the English renaissance of precise enamel decoration, beginning in the late 1840s. Later producers of Tobys such as Davenport, and of course Doulton, showcase much finer painted definition and mold characteristics, traditionally found on 1870s + examples. We are very grateful to the American Toby Jug Museum, for its fine concise history below. Toby Jugs have been around since the early 18th century. The creator of the first Toby Jug is unknown, but most attribute it to either John Astbury or Thomas Wheildon. While the origin of its moniker is unclear, it is widely believed it was named after Toby Fillpot, an infamous sot in a song called â¿The Brown Jugâ¿ that was popular in England in the late 1700s and illustrated with a mezzotint of a fat toper with a jug in hand and the verse beneath. It is in very good condition with no chips. Cracks or nibbles. There is a couple of firing pock marks to the handle that were made at the time of firing and are not nibbles. The background to the piece is in a flat matt stucco wash with high relief patterns that have colourful enamel glaze. The jug measures 22.5 or 8 7/8' tall. It does hae a few chips at the mouth of the jug. on the back base& bottom pictured. And, the paint on the flower is crackling and delicate(must be handled with care) also pictured. I think this jug is ca. 1890s- 1940s give or take, but I'm not 100% sure? The shoulder of the vessel is domed. The jug's 7 1/2" tall again I think it's a one gallon jug. Early 19th c. Small Ovoid Jug, Excellent Condition, No Reserve
Up for sale without reserve is a very small early 19th century ovoid jug. It has a single handle and tan/gray glossy glazed surface. The condition is excellent with only a few tiny glaze bursts from the original firing. The neck has five incised grooves and there is a single one at the bottom. This piece is from 1936. Bottom reads UNIVERSAL POTTERIES INC. CAMBRIDGE, OHIO.COPYRIGHT 1933 ASSIGNED TO U.P.CO. Each side reads 1836- 1936 TEXAS UNDER SIX FLAGS, UNITED STATES, FRANCE, SPAIN, REPUBLIC of TEXAS, CONFEDERACY, MEXICO, and the State Seal and Six Flags. Jug has two small hair line cracks on the mouth of the jug look closely at the picture, Jug those have crazing all over it, that definitely comes with age. Top and cork is perfect except for the crazing. THIS IS A RARE PIECE.
