Buckeye Pottery Company 3 Gallon Antique Stoneware Jug, (late 1800s-early 1900s)
Joseph Pech along with his sons W. J. and Frank established the Buckeye Pottery in Macomb in 1882. Pech. Born in Bohemia on June 15, 1827, apprenticed for 12 years as a potter in Vienna, Austria. Buckeye Pottery was located on Carroll Street. Near the railroad. At the peak of its production. The company employed 20 individuals. The clay came primarily from Macomb County. Wares were marketed to Illinois. Nebraska, Iowa, and other western states. In 1939. Haeger Company purchased Buckeye Pottery and used the pottery to manufacture Haeger floral artware. Offering great antique stoneware jug that has a nice cobalt blue stamp on the front indicating it was made by Buckeye Pottery Company located in Macomb. Illinois. Awesome Vintage Brown/Cream 1/2 Gallon 8 1/2" Jug Pitcher. Has a wonderful almost salt-glazed finish to it. In Excellent condition with no cracks.Chips or scratches.The inside is the brown glaze. Bottom Marked Stoneware Cone Top One Gallon Jug by Buckeye Pottery
For your consideration is a vintage stoneware jug made by the BUCKEYE POTTERY of MACOMB ILLINOIS. This jug is a one gallon size and is the cone top style. I do not know much about this company. What I do know is this company was formed in 1882 and was sold in 1941; I beleive this jug to have been manufactured during the first decade of the twentieth century. In 1882, the technology to use this type of glaze had not been invented. The companies that I have studied got the technology to use this type of glaze between 1894 and 1901. From the table to the shoulder is approximately 7" This jug has a total height of approximately 10 3/4" The bottom is slightly over 7" in diameter. This jug has a crack on the cone, not far from the handle. It has a chip on the shoulder and another chip on the lip. There are three minor to insignificant ... morechips where the sides meet the bottom. This jug displays wonderfully, but is not perfect; before purchasing, please carefully look at the photos. Peoria Pottery Jug Stoneware "Rock Island, ILL" Advertising One Gallon - Mint !!
Mint. Peoria Pottery advertising jug. It says" BEARDSLEY& BURGH. ROCK ISLAND, ILL" on its' front. I have two good pics of the advertising here. The bottom is marked"PEORIA POTTERY. I got a couple of fairly good photos of the bottom. The Peoria Pottery mark is a bit light. The jug is mint. The only thing is a area on the right side that shows that it had something touch its' side before being glazed during manufacturing. I only report this to be completely accurate. The glaze is a very heavy. Dark brown glaze with some reddish brown showing through in places like the lip and the advertising. It is a bit more than 10" in height and is about 7 1/4" in diameter. Large Antique 2 Gallon Pottery (?) Jug Lamp - Québec Stoneware (?)
For your consideration is an antique( pottery( stoneware jug. That at some point was convert to a lamp and painted red. Age and maker is unknown. Could this be Quebec Stoneware( Jug features a navy blue floral motif with a 2 on the front. Back of jug does have a handle with an inverted dent. This is a large. Heavy jug. Height, from top to bottom of jug, is about 13 1/2” high. Overall diameter is 8 3/4” Bottom diameter is 7 3/8” Condition is fair. Several chips around the outer diameter, some existing red paint, and would need to be rewire, if using for a lamp. Possibly, at one time, jug was salt glazed( but glaze was stripped when paint was removed. Please feel free to ask questions or request additional photographs. A really neat piece of history. In Fine Condition this 2 gallon Jug is offered for sale. This is a vintage 2 gallon stoneware whiskey jug made by Star Stoneware. Crooksville, Ohio, a company that was in business from 1892 to 1945. The jug measures 13 1/2" tall by 9" in diameter at the base. It is in Fine condition with no chips. Repairs or Flaws. The jug is marked with a blue star in a circle which is the Star Company logo. The number 2 indicates the capacity of the jug is 2 gallons. The dome shape top is a dark brown and the body is an ivory cream. The base has indications that it was Hand Spun on a Potters wheel. Antique 5 Gallon Brown Glazed Top Tennessee Stoneware Pottery Whisky Beehive Jug
This is a fantastic antique two-toned brown and natural glazed stoneware whisky jug from Tennessee that is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It is beautiful all over with the rich. Even, shiny, brown glaze on the top and the even natural toned glaze on the bottom that is covered with natural crazing from age(shown in the last photo) giving it a charming vintage look. There is some light scuffing and scratching on the surface, but no other obvious damage. I haven't tried to fill it, but it is the same size as other 5 gallon jugs I have and it is definitely larger than a 3 gallon, so I believe it holds 5 gallons. It measures 11" W x 18" H and will be packed very well, double boxed, and insured during shipping.

Vintage brown wiskey jug. Unknown maker.No visible makers mark. Jug measures 7 1/4" tall. 1/8 across the base. Unfortunitly the jug does have a crack(shown in pics)that runs from base up to around handle. It appears that someone had made a lamp out of it at one time.It has a hole drilled the bottom center and another drilled into the side near base. Even with crack and drill holes.Jug seems sturdy. This is a beautiful old 19th Century Stoneware Jug in excellent original condition! It was made by F.B. Norton& Sons. Worchester Mass. It is nearly perfect, with the only flaw being a small chip near the rim(shown) that probably occurred during manufacturing, as it appears to be under the glaze. It measures 11" high, 7" wide, and is heavy at 7-8 pounds. Probably displayed most of its life, and it would be an excellent edition to your collection! Low starting bid and no reserve!

Antique Jug This auction is for a really nice and very rare antique stoneware jug or crock that has a really nice salt glaze finish. The jug is rather narrow and it’s a very early model. But there are no markings minus what looks like a letter G stamped in the back. The jug measures about 11" tall and it has a very unusual pinched handle design that I’ve never seen. Really nice piece and in excellent condition with no damage. There is a very shallow chip at the mouth but it might just have been manufactured as such– it looks like it’s always been there.
