Antique Clinton Missouri Redware Large Jug Likely Jegglin
Antique Clinton. Missouri Redware Large Jug Likely Jegglin Up for auction is a large redware jug from Clinton. Henry County, Missouri. I am assuming that it was made at one of the potteries in that town. It might have even been made by my great grand uncles Johann Caspar Thoma or William Thoma. This jug bears great similarity of jugs made by Michael Jegglin of Boonville, Missouri. And both he and his son, E. A. Jegglin, operated a pottery mill in Calhoun, Missouri. This jug is 9 1/2" in diameter; 11" in height; and weighs 9 pounds. It is marked with a large E which I assume is the jug size. The bottom of this piece of stoneware is flat with no markings. Overall a fine mass produced piece of stoneware from an area noted for its clay and potteries. Powered by The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active ... moreitems.

Antique c 1760 JACKFIELD POTTERY JUG Decorated BLACK GLAZED Baluster REDWARE
IMMEDIATE– PROFESSIONALLY PACKED– FULLY INSURED- SHIPPING Buyer pays actual cost of fully insured shipping. Very safely packed. All Customs forms will state the actual selling price of items shipped internationally. Intrigued by a quote I found in an old book written in 1904 by A. H. Church. I had no choice but to spend the next two days researching what he said. After all, Mr. Church was“the man” at the Victoria& Albert Museum when it came to European ceramics. With an image of a jug nearly identical to the one presented here. He wrote: The only Salopean earthenware that claims notice here is the believed to have been made at Jackfield. about 1760-1775. I’ll continue the quote in a jiffy. But I can assure you that the jug at Victoria& Albert is not only of the same form and age, it appears to have been decorated by the same hand. ... moreHowever. First we’d better take a good look at the old rascal I’m selling. It is black glazed redware. Hand painted and standing 9 ½” tall. As with the V&A example. As well as a second specimen owned by The Jackfield Pottery National Trust. Inventory Number 509515) the one selling here also carries an“inscription contained in scroll cartouche below sparrow’s beak spout. The only difference is the name. According to information passed to me many years ago by the family. C. Guest” was British“nobility. I am simply unqualified to identify the person. I’ll leave that to the Peerage professionals. Let’s call them Nobiliphiles. CONDITION REPORT: In my opinion. This baluster form Jackfield Pottery jug is likely the finest example not imprisoned in a museum or secret collection. As one would expect, there are some minor losses of enamel. After all, it is“over the glaze. There is one tiny bite. And I DO mean tiny, under the rim of the spout, midway between the“poring point” and the body. I have enhanced a couple photos seen below. Had I not, you couldn’t have seen it. More images and commentary continue below my three"Prime Directives: 1st: I never. Under any circums

stoneware / redware bulbous pottery jug signed blue/black glaze Antique American
Hello- This charming bulbous jug is 5 1/2" tall and the same in diameter. It is some kind of stoneware- which looks reddish on the surface. But is also greyish underneath. The glaze is a very shiney black which turns blue where thicker. It is full of metallic bursts in the glaze. The is pure white with a slight uniform crackle which suggests some real age. It could be earlier than 1900- I don't know. It is inscribed underneath- it looks like McCall. Please email with questions.

1800s Redware Jug - Dark Albany Slip Glaze - Incised Flower Decoration + Bonus
This auction is for a redware jug that dates to the 1800s. The jug is approx. 8 1/2" tall and has a flower. Possibly a magnolia, incised into the jug. The Albany slip glaze is dark brown and the first photo which was taken without the flash show a better representation of the true color. The other photos were taken with the flash and show the damage areas and imperfections better. There are several chips in the spout area, an old repair to cracks in the applied handle and numerous imperfections. All in all the jug, which was made to be used in it's day, is in fair condition and still displays nicely. Also included as a bonus is a smaller redware jug which dates to the 1800s and has the same dark brown glaze. The jug measures 4 1/2" tall and has a large chip to the spout. Several hairline cracks, but no damage that I could see ... moreto the applied handle. The little jug with it's imperfections is still very solid and makes a great companion piece to the larger jug. And of course, the corncobs are included at no extra charge! Shipping is FREE with Buy It Now! Before bidding. Diminuative 1 Pint Redware Jug, Probably New England, 1800's
Here's a cool little Redware jug we picked up in thrift shop recently here in North Carolina. This little gem stands about 5.5" tall by maybe 4" in diameter. I'm figuring it is about 1 pint capacity. Pints and half pints are usually pretty rare. So matter what area of the country they are from, and this one is really nice. The color is almost black, and I would guess it's a dark manganese glaze on it. I know these photos are not my best effort(pic editor is on the fritz) but I think you can clearly see it's obviously hand turned. The only flaw I see on it is a smll briuse on the side edge of the handle. No other damages, and no repairs. It's not what I collect, so maybe somebody out there will give it a good home. Jug ships USPS Priority OR Parcel Select Insured, your choice. Thanks for looking, and good luck ... moreshould you choose to bid on it. Ed

Antique American Redware Figural Jug Coin Bank Dated 1792 w/ Saving Inscription
Up for bids is this Antique American Redware Figural Jug Coin Bank- Dated 1792 with an inscription about saving. The inscription is in ink and dated April 12. 1792 which is probably not when this piece was made because this piece looks like it dates between 1830's and 1850's. But the inscription of 1792 could be right we just are not sure. The writing is very light and difficult to see in the photos and there are fingerprints potted into this piece. The redware jug stands 4 7/8" high and has a 2 1/2" base diameter. Condition is good with some flea bites. There is one on the top rim where the lip is near the redware cork and some much smaller ones with some on the opening where coins are inserted. No cracks or repairs. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Shipping will be $8.95 Priority Mail to ... moreanywhere in the USA. Thanks for looking!

This is a nice old Albany slip glazed redware jug with an applied handle. It shows tiny imperfections around the top lip and one defect in the center of the body of the jug(see pictures) It also shows evidence of the potters hand in small ridges that are typical and expected in these pieces. It also shows brush marks from the finishing work. Simply beautiful and a nice addition to anyone's collection. A Rare 11" Tall Antique Torquay Lidded Redware Onion Bodied Jug
An Antique Torquay Redware Lidded Jug or Decanter. The piece is 11" tall with a 19 1/4" circumference bulbous onion body. At the base of the neck there are raised pin stripe lines. The jug is turned or look like it was. It has a darkened patina and delicate 3/32" thin sides. This beauty has two condition issues. There's a small 3/8"x 1/8" chip in the inside of the rim of the lid. And there's a hairline crack dowm one side of the neck both are pictured, and neither affect it's beauty or functionality. The neck is solid! This piece is in very good condition for it's age. I believe it was made between 1870- 1900, but I'm not 100% on that. I also don't know where it was made. The vessel doesn't have any marker mark only an old style number 2 impressed on the bottom. I can provide more pictures ... moreupon request. All my prices are negotiable! If you don't like the starting price feel free to offer a lower price. There are no Reasonable Offers refused! Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!

Yellow, pink and green jug, 4 1/2 inches, mottled colors, redware
I do not where this jug was made or who made it. I do know that it is old. I've had it for many years and it was old when I got it. I'm guessing that it was made in the 1800's, but it may be early 1900's. It looks to be made of red clay, as you can see on the bottom where they glaze does not cover the base material. The glaze is yellow with a lot of mottled pink with green colors. This jug stands about 4 1/2 inches high. The old cork is tightly sealed. There maybe dried contents inside of this jug as it weighs over one pound. Nothing is loose or liquid inside of the jug as I have shook it and nothing moves around. No chips or cracks just where around the bottom where you would expect on an old piece. No reserve on this colorful old jug. S&H, with insurance, is $8.50 in the U.S.A. p.s. See my other auctions for another ... moreneat jug I will be listing.

BROWN SPLATTERED REDWARE SPANISH STYLED WATER JUG MARYLAND TYPE GLAZE VINTAGE
BEAUTIFUL BROWN GLAZE ON A REDWARE WATER JUG REDWARE SPLATTERWARE MOTTLED MARBLED All words apply to this outstanding glazed jug. We photographed it in sunlight to show the depth of the glazes. Color is a dark rich brown as you will see best in the photos of the bottom which we took to show the clay type. There are a few tiny chips around the bottom edge so you can see this is a redware type clay. We thought it was a Spanish water jug. But we have found nothing similar. Especially when it comes to this glaze. Which more closely resembles old Maryland redware brown splatter glaze. If you put a light into the larger hole. You will see it is only partially open. About half. Seems to be the way this jug was constructed. Edge flake on the smaller spout. There was a second pouring of glaze over a first. Creating that drip like quality on the top ... morehalf of the jug. One or two tiny glaze pops, you will need a magnifier to see. No cracks. Chips, other than those already mentioned. Or repairs that we can find on this amazing piece. Weighs over 4 pounds. Height is about 9 and 1/2 inches. Width from spout to spout is 8 and 3/4, diameter at widest is about 6 and 1/4. And diameter of the base is 4 and 1/4 inches. Massive handle. An exceptional jug of unknown origin and age. We ship our items very well protected, delivery confirmation and insurance is included in the shipping cost. Please see our other items listed and thank you to all our bidders. Paypal payment due within 3 days after close of auction. Delivery confirmation is included in the shipping cost. gsrx_vers_525(GS 6.6.5(525)

antique vtg19th century English covered jug/pewter lid,pitcher brown/redware
OK. We don't see pieces as lovely as this one every day. This jug probably would have been for milk on the table, a very pleasingly shaped brown jug with greeny turquoise delicate painting on a cream band. The jug is embellished with gold dots, raised like Japanese moriage. I used to see jugs of this size and purpose in England and on the Continent when I was shopping there in the 80s. It was also clear why there would have been a lid on any milk jug. Lacking screening. Flies would be a huge fact of life, necessitating a cover, not one with an opening in the front, but one that would be hinged in some way and close completely. This one is somewhat unusual. Rather than the hinge that we might think of as perhaps the only option, this jug has a tiny hole on each side, a hole that would have been made in the raw pitcher prior to firing. ... moreThe lid is a separate piece with a soldered on bit at right and left, forming the pivots. I have seen so many jugs with the lids broken off and therefore irreplaceable. This clever thing has the simple hole on one side of the jug and a tiny groove on the other side, down which the soldered on bit can just slide down to rest in the other hole. You can lift it off for washing and then slip it right back in place. There is a bit of roughness on the handle, but otherwise- perfection. I ship by FedEx and the post office. Depending on cost and whether I think one can handle your package better than the other. Good job, you found the listing. So many of my shoppers are pretty new. Here are a few things that no one will probably tell you, but EVERYone will expect you to know. Customer Service is something that we have a right to expect when we are shoppers. All stores have a CS Department and it is busy all the time. If you require CS in this life, that does NOT mean that life sucks and the store sucks and your experience has been rotten. If it did, there would be no stores open anywhere in the world or else CS would have to put up bullet proof kiosks, right? As a shopper,

Antique Primitive Ovoid Redware Slip Decorated Jug, 1800s Folk Pottery
Here's a beautiful. Antique, redware jug in very good, as found condition! It has a fabulous, ovoid shape and is whimsically slip decorated and banded all the way around the upper third portion. This jug has an applied handle with thumbprint that connects with the spout that has never been broken and isn't chipped. The rim around the spout has some very old wear from past use; the edges are uneven and a couple chips are worn smooth. There is an early, carved, 3-inch, wooden stopper tied to the handle with handmade cord that adds some intrigue and charm to the piece. We found this old jug in the cellar of an old barn and it's just as we discovered it. Still dusty and a bit dirty. The patina hasn't been altered in any way. It has wonderful coloring and is blackened on the lower third portion on one side. Most of it appears to ... morebe unglazed with the possible exception of the area just above where the decorations begin as well as a few random spots within them. In the blackened portion of this jug is a spider hairline that is thin, faint, and not a structural concern. The overall height including the wooden stopper is 12 1/2 inches; without it, the jug stands 11 inches high. The spout measures just 1 inch in diameter while the bottom is 4 inches across. The bulbous midsection has a diameter of about 8 1/2 inches and a 26 inch circumference. It was likely used to hold water back in its time and wasn't considered anything special. Now days, antique redware is very collectible and great for interior decorating. This jug is a well-preserved, primitive piece of folk pottery that we offer to the highest bidder without reserve. Good luck!

No reserve for this antique hand thrown brown stoneware jug. Circa 1830s-1860s period. Possibly a redware variant, but looks like Albany slip glaze to me. Vintage Small Redware Jug - Sunflower Motif T68
New To Market You are bidding on this lovely little redware jug. It was sold to me as"an early example" But after my research, I don't think it is too"early" It certainly may be from the late 1800's to early 1900's, but I'm pretty sure it isn't earlier than that. I do believe it to be hand thrown. I do not see any mold lines. The handle is not completely symmetrical. When sitting on the table, the jug leans back a little towards the handle. The base, which is not glazed, has some rough spots or gouges in it. There are a couple of small chips in the glaze at the base. There is some rough white stuff around the base of the jug- maybe something was glued to it? There is no stopper for it. As best as I can tell, the inside is glazed as well as the outside. There is an impressed design on the front and sides ... moreof the jug. It looks like a large sunflower. The glaze is thinner in this area and allows the natural color of the jug to come through in areas and create some shading. there are some pinholes in the glaze, and some crazing which is easier to see in the lighter areas. This is what I was trying to show in the last 2 pics. The jug is on the smaller size, holding a cup of liquid. It measures 5" tall, 5" long with handle and 3 1/2" in diameter. It is a pretty little piece of Americana, and will fit in nicely into many different collections! Thanks for looking. Check out my other items! Be sure to add me to your favorites list!
