BEAUTIFUL 1 GALLON ANTIQUE STONEWARE/COBALT JUG featuring a handsome cobalt design. Jug is approximately 12" tall and the base diameter measures 7" There are no marker's marks. The handle is in great shape. There is. However, a chip out of the jug lip(see photo) It is quite smooth so it has probably been there for many years. There are a few small chips on the front(see photos) Again, they are smooth and appear quite old. There is a very thin and tight hairline 5" crack at the back of the jug which extends on to base of the jug- about 3" The jug appears quite stable and these imperfections do not distract from its charm and beauty. I am not an expert and selling in"as-is" condition. I am downsizing and have to let go of some of my treasures. Happy bidding! No minimum.

JUST ACQUIRED! Terrific ORIGINAL and AUTHENTIC stoneware 1/2 gallon jug(pretty sure but not positive of this size) in terrific all original condition a shown. Jug is incised with name BLANCHARD FARRAR& CO 12- 14 DOCK STREET BOSTON MA. One small glaze chip clearly visible to rright of name. This does NOT go through to the inside and jug still is functional without leaking. BLANCHARD FARRAR was a liquor manufacturer in Boston in late 1800s. Jug measures app 9" high and 5 1/2" diameter. Very nice example. Most items are photographed in natural outdoor sunlight when possible. As such any dark areas in the images are shadows or shady areas unless otherwise stipulated. This company was incorporated in 1889 and exited until 1906; when it sold itself to become PLANT 3 of Western Stoneware of MONMOUTH, ILLINOIS. The debossed writing on the bottom says: MACOMB STONEWARE CO MACOMB ILL. The white glaze on this jug indicates that it was not manufactured before 1895 and it is possible that it could have been manufactured as late as 1906. This jug is of the common shape, meaning it does not have a shoulder. This jug was molded in a two piece mold. This jug is almost 8 5/8" tall and the bottom is approximately 7 5/8" in diameter. Wow. This rustic jug is 118 years old! So sad about the crack(see photo) 9.25" tall 7.5" wide 5 pounds At least the chips on the bottom barely show. Here for your consideration is an antique American Folk pottery stoneware jug. This is a one gallon jug measuring 11" tall and is 7" in diameter at the base. This features a tan salt glaze finish with a slight"orange peel" surface. It also features a cobalt blue slip trail in a bull's eye floral design. It is incised with the maker's name. S.L. Pewtress& Co. Fair Haven, Conn. They operated from 71 Chatham Street in the Fair Haven district of New Haven, Conn. from 1868 to 1887. This jug dates to about 1870. This is in good condition with some character flaws common in the manufacturing of these pieces like glaze skips and small"grit" pieces. You are bidding on a old Albany Salt Glazed(dark brown) Approx. 1 gallon, sypup jug. It is somewhat unique in that the base is the same as diameter as the belly( 6-3/8" The photo incorrectly appears that it is a beehive shape. It measures approx. 8" tall with intact handle and spout. It has no defects except those made during it's manufacture such as small missing glaze stains and firing marks. This is a very nice piece of original stoneware with no chips. Cracks or checks.

This is an excellent,1800's,folk art,antique,stoneware jug,1 1/2 gal. capacity.
We offer this 1800's. Folk art stoneware jug, for your considerations. It is unmarked,very rare shaped. It has a large amount of colbalt blue floral decorations as seen in pictures. This jug was cord cut.As shown on bottom picture,which shows its early age. It holds 1 1/2 gallons. weighs 7 pounds.14 inches tall and is 27.5 inches around the largest part. There are 2 small wear spots as shown. This is a very unusual piece and should make a great addition to your collections.

This heavy. 1-gallon antique salt-glazed stoneware crock jug is a beauty! I'm not sure what was in it originally, but I'd guess hard liquor or moonshine. It has a lovely light cream to putty-colored salt glaze finish, with a hand-applied handle, and possible two-piece body construction. The surface has a wonderful patina, and the inside has the same creamy glaze. There are some scrapes on the mouth and top of the handle that are old enough to beautifully blend into the color of the salt glaze, a few stray dark marks, a few extra bits of clay stuck here and there, and no other damage that I can find. A very unique piece from a bygone era! Unsure of maker. From the late 1800s-early 1900s. I see no damage other than what I've already described. Could use a good cleaning. For your consideration is a one gallon cone top shoulder jug. Made of stoneware. Debossed into the bottom it says: THE BUCKEYE POTTERY CO MACOMB ILL The writing is glazed over, but I could see 0 punctuation. This company existed 1882-1941. I assume this jug was one of the first pieces this company manufactured that had white glaze, because the turkey eye dripping leads me to believe it was fired right after salt glazed items were fired. The height is almost 10 1/2" and the bottom is approximately 7" in diameter. There are 0 cracks, however there is a very minor(probably insignificant) chip.

Vintage stoneware advertising jug. Says Hazel Pure Food Co. Chicago-New York. I think this is made by Red Wing. But I'm not certain. There is no makers mark anywhere, and the research info. out there is very skimpy. Measures 10 1/2" high. 7 1/4" diameter. Single handle at the top. 1" diameter at the top. Weighs 6 lbs. 11 oz. Holds 1 gal, or a bit more to the very top. Overall very good condition. No major cracks that I can find. There are a few minor chip. And some crazing, but it is watertight, nothing leaked out when I filled it.

This jug is classical stoneware. Which has been our family since it was made along time ago. Norton did not make pottery as a business. It started as a knife sharping shop in Worcester Mass. Mr. Norton could not find good abrasives so thus Norton Co. was born. It was and still is mainly an abrasive manufacturer. I'm selling due to my age and have no one to pass it on to.

Vintage Or Antique 8" Glazed Stoneware Jug With Round Top-Grayish-Beige-1/2 Gal?
Offered is this vintage or antique glazed stoneware jug with a round top. I describe the color as a sort of grayish-beige. But the color varies a bit on different parts of the jug. It stands about 8" high and is approx. 5 1/2" across on the bottom. It has a cork in so I could not measure the capacity without removing and probably damaging the cork. But I would guess 1/2 gallon or maybe 2 1/2 or 3 quarts? The jug is in very good condition. I see no cracks. But there are a couple of chips at the top on the"neck" see last photo) a thin shallow line across the top that is not a crack but what looks like a mark made when it was manufactured and a small blob of white paint that may be able to be removed with careful attention As you might expect. This is a heavy item so shipping will be rather expensive. I am calculating the ... moreshipping using USPS but will send FedEx Ground if that is cheaper. Well here is a nice 1/2 gal jug from Memphis Tenn. As you can see someone had made a lamp out the jug at some point. It has a old shallow flake of the top of the lip that is had to see. Other then the hole in the bottom the jug is in nice shape. No cracks or repairs or touch ups. Clean printing of the label and the handle in nice. Someone has written on the bottom of the jug where it was found. It reads( Found during early 1950's under the Fayette County Court house by C.W. A couple of glaze skips. Crazing comensurate with age. One very small chip along the outside of the mouthpiece(see listing and photos please for greater detail) Script is clear and bright; shows almost no wear. 2 Glaze skips. Both about the size of the one pictured. Crazing is most notable on the bottom 1/3 of the jug as well as on the underside. One very small. Shallow chip along the outside rim of the mouthpiece(approx. 1/8" Any slight chips on the underside are under the glaze coat. 1/2" cut mark" under the glaze coat along the side brown area(see photo) I was able to find a"Charles& Co. THIS IS ONE OF THREE 1/2 GALLON JUGS I WILL BE LISTING CONSECUTIVELY! BE SURE TO CHECK THEM ALL OUT! I will not combine shipping on stoneware. It is just too dangerous! Shipping will be $18 per jug. The three jugs will be followed by a piece of blue stencil decorated Iowa Stoneware! Please feel free to email me with any questions! I don't know the maker but do know I have never seen anything like this one! The front is stamped WINE and underneath that are a series of incised fish an some sort of plant alternating all the way around. Years ago I saw a crock with this incised decoration but it had no markings other than that(and was crazy expensive) This jug has a great somewhat ovoid shape. The WINE stamp stands out even better in person. There is some sort of stone ping to the lower left of the word WINE that did lead to a hairline crack ... moredrifting across the front. It does not get any closer than 1 inch to the cobalt band with the fish and WINE stamp. Everything is pictured. It is truly a fantastic piece of stoneware! It has been sitting in my dining room since I purchased it. If it were not for an unexpected expense this jug would stay permanently in my dining room! Don't miss out on this rarity!
