With the age and history, I think this is a terrific piece. It measures 11" high x 7" bottom diameter. Wonderful white and brown stoneware whisky jug. Everyone calls this type of stoneware jug a whisky or moonshine jug. Truth is. Most of them were used for other things. Whatever liquids needed to be shipped. Vintage Whiskey Moonshine Crock Jug Brown Top With Handle and Cork
This auction is for a Vintage Whiskey or Moonshine Crock Jug. It is brown on top an lighter color on bottom. Has a handle and cork. I do not know if the cork is original to the bottle. I do not want to try to remove it for fear it will break or crack apart. Measures 11" tall not including cork. Some pits and seeds from when it was made. Has a small ding in side which I think is from when it was made because it is glazed over. Not exposed. Small hole in bottom but I don't think it goes through to inside, but I cant guarantee it without verifying it by taking out cork, which I don't dare do because it will crack. Some scratches and divots from when it was made. Çouple small chips on top and bottom of jug has some of the brown paint from top splattered on it when it was made. Bottom edge has some chips and wear from age and ... moreuse. I don't know what the inside looks like or its condition since I wont remove the cork. A nice Vintage piece of crockery! Antique Prim Moonshine Whiskey Crock Stoneware Brown Pottery Shoulder Jug
sr 1262013 I am not an antique dealer. This is being sold for a friend who has had this forever and has had to part with his collections due to hard times. So please feel free to ask any questions prior to purchase! This jug has lots of flaws or some say character. I cannot not find definitive markings. However, there are markings underneath the pour spout that we can not decipher. There also appear to be markings on the bottom that look like initials, but age has deteriorated it. The brown part of the jug is full of flea bites, comes with the cork. The base of the handle is not perfect but it looks like it was manufactured that way. The crock has a dent in it on the right hand side of the spout, as well as a square chip from the base of the bottom. There are also flea bites and flaws from manufacturer. These 1/2 gallon jugs are pretty scarce and are even harder to find at a reasonable price. This particular little brown jug is about as good as you can get. There are a couple of small imperfections in it but they're not new. They've been there since day one. I doubt you're really brewin' up moonshine for this. The chip on the top is just glaze deep and the one on the bottom is not bad. Considering the life these had it is a wonder they survived. Not sure how much it holds. Maybe 2 gals or less. From my grandmothers home back in the late 1950's is this ceramic stoneware cider. Moonshine jug. I remember this from way back when I was a kid. My grandmother passed in the late 70's and my mother kept it. It then went to my brother and he's had it till now. He's 63 years old so this little rascal is an oldie! It's always been in the house and shows little signs of wear or use. It's a very nice piece.

This is a Antique Glazed Jug. The bottom is brown with a black uneven stripe around the base. The brown blends into black towards the top. There are no chips or cracks. Under the handle there is some paint loss. I am not sure if this is from wear or if it is original. There is also a small spot near the handle that has some paint loss as can be seen in the photos. Again I am not sure if this is from wear or was originally painted this way. Vintage ANTIQUE Brown GLAZE STONEWARE CROCK WHISKEY MOONSHINE JUG HEAVY OLD
You are bidding on an Earlier Period Art Nouveau Unsigned Antique Brown and Cream Colored Glazed Crock Moonshine Jug. This particular piece has very minor crazing and is in Excellent Condition. Jug was handmade. And is slightly smaller than most of the other jugs i have found online that are similar. Age was determined through the exceptionally old cork that is found inside the jug and unfortunately can't be removed or photographed without risking any potential damage to the mouth of the jug. It is assumed this was made in the USA however no stamps or marking have been found. There is an indentation in the jug as you can see in the photos that adds some character, as it was a flaw that was created during the crafting of the item. The creator obviously didn't think it was any problem and just added the glazing over it. From the interior ... morethere is no damage, so the functionality of the item isn't affected by the indent, I'm guessing that was how the creator thought when he finished this product. No one alive knows the exact age of this piece but it came with many other pieces that was from the 1830's-1850's. I will be listing a few of these items at a later date. Vintage 1 GALLON Handle JUG Brown Glaze Pottery Moonshine Crock Beehive
My parents bought this jug at a rural farm estate sale decades ago. I measured myself and it held approx. one gallon plus two cups of water. No leaks. It stands approx. 9.5" tall, with a 7.5" diameter at the base. I believe the shape is known as"beehive" but I'm not sure.I am NOT an expert on this sort of item! I have examined it carefully and can find no damage other than that associated with many years of normal use. As you can see in the pictures, the bottom surface is quite rubbed, and the underside of the handle is missing the glazed surface. But I see NO cracks and actual chips; there are places where the surface is uneven but I think that was part of the hand made process. There are also small surface bubbles. No maker marks that I can see. I will package carefully with lots of wrapping and foam noodles. Shipping ... morewill be via USPS with tracking and insurance. After listing. I saw the cost of Priority shipping outside my postal zone and it is very expensive! I am now adding a standard shipping option, which will also include tracking and insurance.
