The following is stamped on the item: There are no maker mark's nor brand mark's.This is a antique/vintage whiskey/liquor jug and it's real heavy stoneware type material with a attached handle.It's a one colored jug it's a dark brown color.The complete jug has a very nice glaze coating but not on the bottom.This is a used item it has wear and light scratch/scuff mark's from normal use not abuse and has alot of life left ... morein it.There are some very small flea bite's type chip/nick's but nothing bad nor major chip's.No crack's,there is nothing glued on any of this piece,I do not no what quart size this is.For it's age this is still in great condition for a used item,the complete jug is very solid and heavy duty.On lip area there is two older chip/nick's,just below the lip area there is this small hole please look at my picture's you will see these mark's. The messurement's: it's about 9 1/4 inches tall/high and it's about 24 1/4 inches round in the middle and about 22 1/2 inches round on the bottom. This jug is part of a series of three. All of which go under the name, Coronation Brand, but with presumably different contents. One of them is labeled“Irish Type Whiskey” and the other“Kornschnapps Style Liquor” a German alcoholic beverage. All profess to be“Products of Ohio. Each reflects the Art Nouveau sensibility in the differing modes of flowing shapes that surround their labels. Two decades of trying to locate the origins of these highly unusual whiskeys has yielded me absolutely no clues. I really don't know anything about this beautiful piece of pottery. It measures about 9 inches tall and 16 inches around at the widest point. It appears to be quite old and has Poland stamped on the bottom. There no cracks or chips just a few imperfections in the piece. Antique Stoneware Liquor Jug VAN ZUYLEKOM. LEVERT& CO A=1684 AMSTERDAM Measures approximately 12.5" high. I found the Company. Levert& Co. Amsterdam- Liquors" in a document on the Web titled"International Exhibition" dated 1876. Has wear with age includes surface markings and residue. The handle to the jug had broken off at some point in time as you can see by the cracks at top and bottom of handle. Despite this. The handle feels very secure and in place. There are a couple of chip marks at the bottom of the jug. Needs to be cleaned as I've made no attempt to do so. Please look closely at my pictures as I do consider them part of my description. This bottle is in excellent condition. It has a few minor scuffs due to general usage. The bottle is embossed with the words"Federal law forbids the sale or re-use of this bottle" inside an oval. The letter and number"R 104" is embossed right below the oval. Dimensions: Height: 10.20 inches Base Diameter: 3.12 inches History of Marking: Bottles which are embossed with the words"Federal law forbids the sale or re-use of this bottle" are dating from 1935 through the early 1970s. After prohibition was repealed on Dec 5. 1933 the law changed again and it became legal to manufacture and sell alcoholic beverages. The reasoning behind this law was to prevent the refilling of bottles by the black market bootlegging businesses. In 1935 the law went into effect which stated that the words"Federal law forbids sale ... moreor re-use of this bottle" must be embossed somewhere on the bottle. On Dec 1. 1964 the law was repealed. Some manufactures still were embossing their bottles into the early 1970s. Since hundreds or thousands of bottle molds would have been in active use circa 1964 when the phrase requirement was phased out, it would have been highly expensive, time-consuming and basically pointless to re-tool all the molds to“erase” the warning. Thus it is certain that some bottles continued to carry the phrase for some time after 1964. Nevertheless. It is still a fairly safe bet that most bottles with this marking do indeed date from that 29-year period. Huge numbers of all types and shapes of“spirits” flasks& cylinder-shaped(fifth) bottles(bourbon& scotch whiskey. Gin, vermouth, vodka, etc, etc) were marked with this phrase. This was done in an effort to discourage the re-use of empty bottles for bottling and selling homemade(that is. Unregulated) distilled liquor(moonshine” the sale of which had became very common and widespread during the Prohibition era. This canteen shaped stoneware 1/2 gallon jug is a very rare piece with 10 or less known to exist. Made by the Whites Pottery. Utica, New York factory for the Utah Liquor Company. Whites Pottery, Utica, NY is famous for their cobalt paddletail and running bird stoneware designs that sell for thousands of dollars. It is salt glazed with cobalt blue. The front has the words"Utah Liquor Company and 167 South Main St" The backside features a scene of three men drinking. Below is more about the canteen and the Utah Liquor Company. One of the most prolific of the Utah liquors firms was the Utah Liquor Company. This firm is first noted in the 1894 in the Salt Lake City Directory. The ... moreinitial establishment was at 167 South Main Street, a locale it kept through 1902. The canteens are among the most appealing examples of Utah stoneware. Each features on the front the advertisement UTAH LIQUOR CO/ 167 SOUTH MAIN STREET/ SALT LAKE CITY with the reverse of one featuring three drinking men and the other a picture of two standing elk. Special thanks to David Emett for contacting me to correct the information of the size of this rare canteen. Pretty sure with the photos you have listed that this jug is a quarter gallon rather that a half gallon. I am not aware of anyone who has actually measured the capacity of the canteens but for over 40 years this size is considered the quart. I already have a set but my two half gallons could be upgraded. Your jug is an exceptional example of this rare piece. The rarity of the quart has held but several other half gallon examples have surfaced. The quart usually brings a higher price than the half. The gallon is still the toughest to get. Whites Pottery, Utica, NY is famous for their cobalt paddletail and running bird stoneware designs that sell for thousands of dollars. It is salt glazed with cobalt blue. The front has the words"Utah Liquor Company and 167 South Main St" The backside features a scene of three men drinking. Below is more about the canteen and the Utah Liquor Company. One of the most prolific of the Utah liquors firms was the Utah Liquor Company. This firm is first noted in the 1894 in the Salt Lake City Directory. The initial establishment was at 167 South Main Street, a locale it kept through 1902. The canteens are among the most appealing examples of Utah stoneware. Antique North Carolina Earthenware Moonshine Liquor Whiskey Jug 1870
For sale is a Antique North Carolina Earthenware Moonshine Jug circa 1870. The jug was found in a hand hewn log barn by the owner who said the barn was built in the 1860's. The jug was under the floor in a space between the rock foundation. It is possible that it was put there after the barn was built. The jug is about 9.75" tall and 7" in diameter. The jug has something in it and even though I have washed it out there is still something inside. It is possible that a bird or other animal had made a nest inside. It is very heavy weighing over seven pounds. The way the jug is made confirms it's early creation. The glaze is glass and salt which confirms the approximate age of 1850-1880. The jug is in good antique condition with no chips or cracks. Please examine the photos carefully. CROCK TYPE LIQUOR**/JUG/BOTTLE/HOLDER
This is a Crock Jug. It has crackling on the top which is light beige and on the bottom it is brown with no crackling. The stopper is also brown with no crackling. The bottom has"liquor" imprinted on it then R-4 in the center of the bottom. And on the other side from liqueur it has Mohawke. The cork does not look new, in fact there is tape or some kind of paper on the cork that looks old. Do not know for sure how old this is.

This auction is for an antique pottery jug marked"Fee Bros. It is in good used condition with some small paint spots and one 1/8" ding in the side. But no cracks, chips or crazing. It measures about 6 1/2" in diameter at the bottom and it is about 7 1/2" tall. Fee Brothers is from Rochester, NY and was started in 1864, but began using"Fee Brothers" as a name in 1883. At this time they made and distributed wine and also dealt in other alcoholic beverages, but I don't know it's original contents. They are still in business today as a maker of extracts. This vintage or antique beige and dark brown stoneware liquor jug is marked"A. C. Brauer Wholesale Liquor Dealers 390 Jackson Ave. Jersey City. N. J. in black or very dark blue. The half gallon jug(it actually holds about 8 oz. more than that) sits approx. 8 1/2" high and is about 5 1/4" across at the bottom. It is in very good condition. There are a couple of very small chips in the dark brown glaze. A few small chips in the bottom near the edge(not visible unless turned over) and a light area in the beige glazing(see last photo) I think this is a fairly uncommon jug; at the time of listing I saw no others from this company for sale anywhere. It has an original white slip ash glaze. This jug is hand thrown but many may have been made in the same manner. These type jugs were sold primarily to be used in the kitchen(white color) for vinegar and medicinal whiskey or cider. It is not signed. The jug is in good antique condition with some chips& flaws at base edge. It does have superficial surface cracks. The jug does hold fluid and does not leak. The jug was probably stored outside in the winter. We used to find these at barn sales and flea markets in N.C. but they have become very hard to find especially in this half gallon size. It is from Griel Bros Grocers and Liquor Co. of Montgomery Alabama and has very attractive, clear, and legible advertising on its salt glazed body It is a desirable size standing only 7 1/2 inches tall. It has typical signs of age. Small chips. flaking of the glaze in places, a couple tight short hairlines, but no structural loss of integrity to speak of at all. This is a fantastic find.
