There pitcher is accented with brilliant gilt trim and decoration throughout and the front of the pitcher has a decorative gilt monogram on the front. The jug is unsigned ... moreand unmarked. There is a bit of faint gilt loss, particularly on the rim, lip of the spout and on the acanthus leaf handle. There is a tight ¼” hairline on the interior where the handle meets the body and another 1” tight hairline on the bottom rim. The hairline does not go into the interior or prevent water storage. Antique Brown & Mustard Decorated Redware Pitcher; 19th Century Folk Pottery old
Here's a beautiful. 19th century redware pitcher in very good condition! Thick, rugged, and heavy, this piece has an ovoid shape with a wide midsection. It has a gorgeous blend of colors including mustard, brown, and greens. The glaze& oxides were somehow applied in a manner where it didn't adhear in certain places and other parts were not glazed at all, including the bottom. In other areas the glaze is drizzled or running downward. When fired, interesting characteristics were created including mottling and a speckled effect. The unglazed red portions have an original, grungy patina that's the result of past use, places it was kept, and the passage of time. Oddly enough. There's some sort of slip decoration on the front, under the spout, that is difficult to discern. It probably was a name or some sort of writing and part ... moreof a date where a mistake was made and the entire piece was glazed over in this unique manner to cover it up. It looks like a capital letter C with a last name under it, followed by 1874 or 1879, perhaps. The way the piece was glazed as well as wear and tear makes it very difficult to make out. In fact, we didn't really notice the writing until after viewing one of the photos while posting this auction. It's an interesting peak into the history of this old pitcher and perhaps if you are skilled, you may be able to determine what it says under that glaze. Regardless. This is a very attractive piece of pottery that also has decorative incised bands, an applied handle, a charming country-style shape, and of course its very nice coloring. It measures 10 1/4 inches high while the diameter of the bottom is 4 1/8 inches. The opening of the pitcher is 5 1/4 inches including the spout and the widest point in the middle is 7 1/2 inches. It weighs over 4 pounds. We found no cracks or hairlines, only some old pitting on the interior that isn't structurally significant. There is surface wear and loss of glaze but nothing that detracts from its beauty. This piece is still even

Antique Decorated Ovoid Redware Pitcher; 19th Century Mottled Folk Pottery old
This time we have an early piece of decorated redware pottery in very good. Well-preserved condition. Dating to the middle 19th Century, this lead glazed pitcher has beautiful coloring that was achieved through the use of oxides. It's primarilly green inside and out with mustard and orange colored mottling all over. On the interior, the green turns to mustard at the bottom third of the piece where the surface is worn from use. On the exterior, an area that varies from 3/4 inch to 2 inches from the bottom wasn't glazed, nor was the underside. The original red clay surface was left exposed and an old, grungy patina resulted from past use and the passage of time. Carved into the bottom are the initials"A.S. In addition, this old piece has whimsical, white-yellow floral decorations on opposite sides, adding even more folksy charm. ... moreThe exterior glaze shows wear and tear. Mostly surface scratches from coming in contact with other items. Also, there are a pair of contact marks where it was touching other pieces while being fired. As mentioned earlier, the interior has some loss of glaze but the clay surface is not eroded. Glaze was also worn off on the opening rim and the edges of the handle. There are only a couple of old chips on the rim, none elsewhere. While writing this description we noticed a 2 1/2" line in the back, under the handle, that looks like a very tight hairline. It doesn't appear to go all the way through to the interior and can't be felt when running a finger or fingernail across it. While we like to fully disclose all flaws to the best of our ability, these are really just indicators of heavy use and are helpful in authentication. Redware pottery was used for common, everyday purposes; it was not considered anything special. Surviving examples are often found with significant damage so this early pitcher was well cared for throughout its history. Heavier than it looks, this piece is solid, rugged, and structurally sound. It stands 10 inches tall and has a base diameter of 4

The piece is glazed inside and out. 9-1/2" tall and 8-3/4" from the outermost part of handle to tip of spout. Wonderful detail. No crazing which is remarkable for the age of this piece. Another great find from"Jodye's Vintage Finds" on ebay.

STUNNING 19TH CENTURY ANTIQUE EMBOSSED WHITE PITCHER
THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY STUNNING AND RARE 19TH CENTURY WHITE EMBOSSED PITCHER. IT HAS AN INTRICATE AND BEAUTIFUL DESIGN THROUGHOUT WITH A LOVELY CURVED HANDLE AND STANDS 10 1/2" TALL. IT IS PROBABLY FROM ENGLAND. BUT DOES NOT HAVE A MARK WHICH WAS NOT UNUSUAL AT THE TIME. AT FIRST LOOK THE PITCHER LOOKS PRFECT. IT HAS NO CHIPS OR LARGE CRACKS, BUT ON FURTHER INSPECTION YOU CAN SEE A LONG THIN CRACK THAT GOES FROM THE BACK TOP NEAR THE HANDLE AND THEN DOWN AND AROUND TO THE BOTTOM. IF THIS WILL BE USED AS A DISPLAY PIECE, THERE ARE NO ISSUES FROM THE FRONT OR 1 SIDE. THIS DOES AFFECT THE VALUE AND BECAUSE OF IT, I HAVE PRICED IT LOW. IF PERFECT, IT WOULD BE WORTH MANY HUNDREDS OF $'S BECAUSE OF IT'S BEAUTY AND RARITY. IT STILL LOOKS BEAUTIFUL AND IS A WONDERFUL DISPLAY PIECE FOR YOUR COLLECTION.

Excellent Late 19th Century Glasgow Pottery Ironstone Pitcher. John Moses 1880's
This auction is for an excellent late 19th century Glasgow pottery ironstone milk/water pitcher. This piece was purchased from a prominent southern Maryland estate. This fine pitcher was manufactured by John Moses and the Glasgow Pottery company of Trenton New Jersey. Glasgow pottery was established in 1863 and quickly became one of the largest and most successful potters in New Jersey. Glasgow produced a variety of centennial commemerative tea cups and saucers for which they are well known for. Many organizations sponsored fund raising activities centered on the 100th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party that also featured Glasgow cups and saucers. The company continued success until shortly after the death of John Moses in 1902.Which at that time were sold to Maddock Pottery. This fine"helmet-formed" pitcher is decorated in the ... moreEnglish Roccoco taste, see pics) It has nice flowing lines and a lovely acanthus leaf decoration on the handle. It stands proudly at 7 1/4" tall at highest point. It has a faint early signature, and I can only make out the word Trenton. This type signature would date this pitcher to the 1880's. It is in spectacular condition with NO damage what so ever! Indeed, one for the collection! Truly to be a great addition to your Glasgow Pottery/Ironstone collection/fine decor. Please check my other auctions for more antiques and collectibles. I am happy to combine shipping to save you $$$! PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU HAVE A LOW FEEDBACK COUNT. 19th century porcelain pitcher with hand-painted landscape
Beautifully hand-painted porcelain pitcher. 8" tall, maximum diam. at base- 4 1/2" Finely molded handle looks like a wooden grip attached by twisted ropes. Gilding on rim(where it is slightly worn) handle and finely decorated gilded pattern around rim of the oval field of the landscape painting. Decoration of leaves on the back. No maker's markings. Very good condition. One very tiny chip out of the blue painting on the front and a hairline crack on the inside which does not carry through to the outside. I've always used it as a vase for flowers, so it certainly doesn't leak and has always seemed quite strong.

Antique ALBANY SLIP Glazed Stoneware Pitcher Mid 19th Century
We are pleased to offer a beautiful antique stoneware pitcher. Finished in dark brown Albany Slip glaze. It has a smooth finish with quite a bit of glaze drip on the lower portion of the piece. A very nice find! Pottery makers across upstate New York turned out millions of pieces of utilitarian stoneware in the 19th century. It was not considered valuable and as such. Was not preserved or well cared for. Much of it was finished in a dark brown glaze called Albany Slip. The glaze was high in mineral content which accounts for the variations in color- it can be almost black to lighter shades of brown. The firing process caused color variations as well. Many of the pieces show the fingerprints of the pottery who dipped the piece into the glaze before firing. We will be offering a number of these pieces in the coming weeks. They are great for ... moreaccenting country or primitive decor. Please be sure to add us to your and check back often. Condition: Excellent- no chips or cracks. Size: 7 1/2" tall; 5 1/4" diameter at the opening and 4 3/4" diameter at the base. Shipping: Buyer to pay actual shipping costs; insurance is included as a handling fee. We are happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases. Please note that customs fees are the sole responsibility of the purchaser. Returns: If you are unhappy with your purchase for any reason. Antique Early 19th Century Mocha Ware Ceramic Cream Pitcher
Antique Early 19th Century Mocha Ware Ceramic Pitcher This nice little cream pitcher is a piece of early 1800s Mocha Ware. A factory-made slipware that was refined earthernware decorated with colored slip and mass produced. Ware of this variety was manufactured by British, French, and North American potters from the late 18th Century to the late 19th Century. The pattern on this pitcher consists of banding on top and bottom, applied with a slip pot that the worker used to trail the colored slip on the pot as it rotated in front of him. This old piece has a lovely banded pattern plus some additional decorative molded design on the applied handle. The pitcher measures 4" tall. About 5 1/4" wide across the handle and spout, and about 3 3/4" in diameter across the belly. Mocha Wear was one of the first factory mass produced ceramics. ... moreAnd it became enormously popular for everyday use. It was tough and pretty and often was referred to as Tavern Ware(after its' use became popular in such places! This piece has definitely seen some use, and it bears the scars of its' workaday history- don't forget it is 200 years old! It has some loss of banding slip and a number of cracks- the most obvious being the one on the base(an old repair of a broken base rim) There also is a crack in the upper part of the handle and some rubbing on the rim and base. Still, the pitcher is a nice old piece, and it would be a great gift for someone who collects antique ceramics, for a historian, or for an historical archaeologist interested in assembling a"type collection" of 18th century wares. I've enjoyed it for many years, but it is time to thin out my collections now, so I'm hoping to find this old girl a new home. Please note: Paypal is required for payment. And payment should be completed within 4 days of the close of bidding. I wrap and pack very carefully and ship USPS priority. I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple items. So do check out my other listings. Please feel free to email

19th Century Rare Mason's Ironstone Davenport Imari Pitcher with Snake Handle
Beautiful Davenport Stone China Imari decorated pitcher with a snake handle. Very rare and in good condition. The pitcher measures about 7 inches in height and 6 inches wide. Marking dates it to 1805-1820; John Davenport, born in 1765, is said to have begun potting in 1785, first as a workman, and later as a partner with Thomas Wolfe of Stoke. He acquired his own pottery at Longport for the manufacture of earthenware in 1794. In 1830 he retired, and his two sons Henry and William carried on the firm until 1835, when Henry died. This style of the firm then became William Davenport and Company. William died in 1869, and his two sons took over the direction of the business, which remained in the family until 1887.

RARE 19th Century French Clay Pottery Pitcher Confit Pot Antique Primitive
This is a unique 19th century large French pottery pitcher with a handle and minimal pouring spout. Glaze is mustard gold interior and exterior top half and cream/grey bottom half. Appears to be red clay underneath. The design resembles brick work or a stone wall made of crudely painted marks in green glaze. Probably southern France. Came from an estate with many 19th century French pottery pieces(I have sold all the others) Most of these pottery pieces from that region have flaws in glaze and clay which give them character and this one has many, it is quite primitive. There is crazing/tiny cracks to glaze typical for age. There are no cracks in the clay; there is one chip on the upper rim near the handle and glaze missing underneath the chip on the pitcher vessel. Some of the glaze on the upper rim is worn off, which is common. It is a beautiful ... morepiece. Please see photos for anything not mentioned here as part of the item description. Measurements: 6" diameter upper rim and base(interior upper rim is 4.5" diameter) and 8.25" tall. The last 2 photos are of a similar piece filled with irises that was in an opening scene of 1930's England in the movie The Hours. It is the only other with these markings I have seen except the second one I sold last year. I do not ship breakables Parcel Post. Sorry- I pack well and ship FAST!

This beautiful Basket Weave Parian Ware Pitcher measures about 7.75" tall. I believe they are English however they could be American as well. With no marks it makes it quite difficult to figure out. I believe it was made before the registration British Registration period was required on pottery during the first half of the 19th century. The middle of the front has a a small brown mark that is repeated in the interior which was a spot of iron in the clay that was fired in the original m aking of the pitcher.

C93 ) 19th Century Staffordshire Orange Luster Cream Pitcher, Chinese Scenes
C93) 19 th Century Staffordshire Orange Luster Cream Pitcher. Chinese Scenes This lovely 19 th century Staffordshire cream pitcher measures 5 ¼” tall by 4” wide by 3 ¼” deep. Unmarked. It is pristine as its white is very bright, the color transfer is generally placed carefully, and only a few odd brown marks show below the handle. A ¾” border of flowers. Leaves, and tendrils in shades of brown is repeated all the way around the rim. Where the transfers join under the handle and at the spout they are slightly misaligned. The two related scenes join at the front of the pitcher perfectly. The more detailed scene features a father. Grandfather, and grandson with his pet dog in the courtyard of their estate; they are dressed simply, but the courtyard is surrounded by an elaborate architectural fence with hedges beyond it. A domed ... morestructure is seen at one side while beyond the hedges, we see the river, and beyond that, a cluster of four or five small buildings. The transfer of a boatman on the river joins perfectly under the spout; the same is true for the intricate fence. The second scene depicts the father and grandfather in the courtyard. While off to one side is a stone structure with a vase and small plant on it. The other side of the courtyard shows their home. The hedges are not seen on this side but the river is still there, and beyond it, the hills. There seems to be is a slight misalignment of the fence, but I think it was deliberate to indicate a corner. The grandfather watches his son as he appears to be releasing a falcon into the air. Simple elegance indeed. ~ ~ ~ We charge actual shipping costs only. With no handling fees. C94) Early 19th Century Brown w Orange Luster Cream Pitcher, Fans & Birds
C94) Early 19 th Century Brown w Orange Luster Cream Pitcher. Fans& Birds This simple but unmarked elegant pitcher. Measuring 5 ¾” tall by 4 ¼” wide by 3 ½” deep, features a simple ¼” border on the inside and outside of the top rim. Inside the rim is a continuous frieze of intricate brown transfer designs. The outside rim has random portions of the leaf, vine, and fan brown transfers used on the lower outside. The top outside of the handle has a less than 2” copy of the inside rim’s design. The bottom design begins with three patches of orange luster applied with the brown transfer placed over it. Its design consists of fans on either side of the pitcher facing towards the middle front. The fans have some aesthetic designs in them with a different bird in each fan; the birds face each other. In the middle of the pitcher(between ... morethe fans) is a larger bird with a long beak and even longer legs. Surrounding these three orange luster sections are simple brown vines and leaves. The bottom of the pitcher has a couple of orange luster marks and a short hairline that does not go through. The top of the handle appears to be weakened by a vertical crack on one side. The merchant didn’t feel it would prevent his selling it, however, neither do I as it is still intact. ~ ~ ~ We charge actual shipping costs only. With no handling fees. 19th Century Copper Lusterware Milk Jug / Cream Pitcher
This is a great Luster/ Lusterware pitcher or creamer from the 19 th century. This copper and pink piece has a delicate design around the neck and the brush stroked buildings often found on these porcelain/ pottery works. The handle is ornate. The rim is rough; I cannot really tell if it is wear to the item or in the making. There is definite wear to the bottom. If you look inside(see photo) there appears to be a crack. But it does not go through to the outside of the pitcher. It measures 4 inches high(pitcher itself) but the handle goes to 4 ½ inches. It is a bit over 2 inches in diameter at the top. But flares out in the middle and tapers down to a bit over 1 ½ inches at the bottom. I have tried to describe this as best as possible. But please feel free to ask questions. Thank you for looking!
