Pictures 7& 8 show where it starts at the top and runs down towards the handle. It does go through to the inside. But it still displays well from the other side. I just hated to dispose of it since it is a cute little pitcher. The measurements are shown in my pictures. Up for auction is a Cooper Lustreware Pitcher. Bowl, and cup. All have issues so check out the photos but selling as a lot and fairly inexpensive for something that's decorative anyway. Selling As Is. The Pitcher is 6.5" tall and approx. 5.5" at its widest point. Terracotta body. Chip on lip of spout. The Bowl is 5 5/8" across and approx. 1 1/4" deep. Ceramic body. Crack and staining. The Cup is 3 1/2" tall and 3 1/2" across at its widest point. The bottom was glued back on at some point in its life and that resulted in the 2 small holes seen in photo 10. WADE English Copper/Bronze Lustreware Cream Pitcher and Sugar set from estate
Made in England this WADE Copper Lusterware small cream and sugar set is priceless! It was bought at an estate sale so little is known about it. The pictures tell all. The Sugar bowl is 1 34/ tall and 2 3/4" in diameter at the top. The Creamer is almost 3" tall and 1 3/4" in diameter at the top. There is some natural scuffing in the glaze and wear at the top of each piece. The are no chips. There is thin line crack as seen in picture#3 from the top of the creamer edge down about 1" These are 2 adorable little sugar and creamers made by WADE of England in the Harvest pattern. VG Antique 1830 Sunderland Large Pink Lustreware Mottled Pitcher William & Mary
Excellent example of lustreware from the Sunderland region of North East England. Dated 1830 William& Mary embellished with leaves and flowers and a poem by William Cowper: Like crowed forest trees we stand. And some are mark'd to fall; The axe will smite at GOD's command, And soon shall smite us all. Wonderful mottling decoration around neck; deep pink in color. Glaze is crisp and clear, not washed out or faded. One condition issue is a chip on underside of spout(please see photo) which doesn't detract from display appearance only when one picks it up and turns it upside down. There are also a few spots on bottom consistent with age but overall a very nice, collectable piece. Measures 5.5 inches tall and 16.5 inches around base circumference. Lustreware is type of pottery with a metallic glaze that gives the effect of iridescence. ... moreProduced by a thin metal glaze reduced by chemical agents. The final glaze lustre may be composed of one or more metallic ingredients. The origin of the method is old. The early Persians produced lustrious pottery in the early 13th century and has been noted the process could have been copied from earlier ancestors. Pink Lustre started to become commercially available in around 1790. The potteries around Staffordshire. England(including Spode and Wedgwood) finally figured out how to apply gold in the glaze that turned pink during a second, lower temperature firing. The gold iridescent pink ware grew rapidly in popularity, and it held that for the next 75+ years. The pottery at the beginning was a basic white clay ceramic some collectors call“soft paste. These earliest pieces have completely opaque base clay. These are the more valuable. One key way to determine a piece is early is that I first check to see that light will not pass through the piece. The second is that a characteristic blue in the glaze forms in the deep crevices on the base where the foot of the piece meets the base. This is a really good indication that it is early. This pitcher is decorated in a dazzling motif of brilliant copper colored lustre and a warm sky blue band. The blue band is decorated with a darling motif of a young boy and girl in the countryside. There is no mark. But the quality and craftsmanship are clearly English. We would date this to the 1830s-1840s. This pitcher is in fare condition. There is some very minor wear on the lustered portion. As would be expected, but there are also some chips to the rim, spout, and the design on one side. Victorian Lustreware Pitcher with Handpainted Floral Border - 5.25" Tall
Very pretty lusterware pitcher from the Victorian era featuring a beautiful glaze of copper with insets of floral design panels. Inside the pink is mimicked at the top and then fades to cream. The pitcher shows that it was used and loved. There is some minor loss of paint here and there on the dominant floral panel. Also. On the underside of the foot, there are chips; they barely show when the pitcher is upright. The pitcher measures 5 1/4" tall and has a mid-diameter of approximately 4 1/8" The diameters of the foot and top are 2 3/4" and 3 1/2" Respectively. It's 6 1/2" across from outside edge of handle to tip of spout. I did my best to capture the style and quality in pictures. Staffordshire Lusterware Pink Luster Pearlware Hunt Jug Horse& Hounds Pitcher 7¾ x 7½ dia. C. 1800-30 Eight panels ovoid shape. Pearlware relief molded hunt scenes on both sides below oak leaves& acorn molding around the neck and above basket weave band above rope foot. Painted in pink. Green, yellow& black enamels and pink luster. Two chips to the inner spout rim and one at the foot which has old staple repairs but an attractive large(2½ quarts) early pitcher.
